im not entirely sure if this would be related to your blog - do you have any advice for trying to practice self-love? im kind of hoping that maybe it will help with my suicidal tendencies. i think its one of my main causes of stress - unrelated but i love your blog a lot. thanks for all that you do

oh im the self love anon again. i have depression and autism if that helps/changes anything

Self Love Suggestions

  1. Keep a “Self Love” journal. Write down something that makes you happy in it every single day. When you’re feeling down, consult said journal.
  2. Do something nice for your body once a week. Whether that means a bath with a bath bomb, a self-manicure, a face mask, etc.
  3. Post supportive sticky notes on the mirrors in your home. Write things like “today is going to be a great day” or “you look gorgeous” on them. If this cheers you up, consider putting sticky notes in other places you frequent (the fridge, bathroom, etc).
  4. Utilize free suicide prevention resources! We wrote a masterpost with lots of options, also check out Calm Harm.
  5. Get involved in some local groups/clubs. Learn something new, expand your network, and make new friends! Or volunteer at the ASPCA and pet animals all day.
  6. Plan a dinner date for yourself once a week. Skip canned or frozen dinners, spend some time cooking. Try new recipes! We have SO MANY listed on our website under #food that are inexpensive.
  7. Come up with a nighttime or morning routine and stick to it. Routines can be extremely calming and comforting, because we can control them during days when nothing goes as planned. My morning routine involves feeding my cats, watering plants, putting on lotion, and sitting on the toilet for a half hour on Instagram watching people’s stories.
  8. Spend some money and buy yourself some trinkets that make you happy, leave them around your living space. Nice smelling candles, artwork/posters, cute plants, etc. Beautify your home!
  9. Look into yoga, meditation, or focused breathing exercises. Doyogawithme is a free website with hundreds of yoga tutorial videos which are amazing. You need to create an account, but the website is free.
  10. And finally, if you’re feeling down USE YOUR SUPPORT CIRCLE! Contact your friends, family, therapists, etc and let them know how you’re feeling. You’re not being annoying or needy, there’s nothing wrong with getting a pep talk from those who love and understand you.

Stay strong love!

What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless

FOOD

  • Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
  • grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
  • different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
  • some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit

SHELTER

  • Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
  • sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
  • Some churches offer short term residence
  • Find your nearest homeless shelter
  • Look for places that are open to the public
  • A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry

HYGIENE

  • A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
  • Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
  • Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
  • Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
  • Local beaches, go for a quick swim
  • Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
  • Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
  • Pack 7 pairs of socks/undies, 2 outfits, and one hooded rain jacket

OTHER

  • first aid kit
  •  sunscreen
  •  a travel alarm clock or watch
  •  mylar emergency blanket
  •  a backpack is a must
  •  downgrade your cellphone to a pay as you go with top-up cards
  •  sleeping bag
  •  travel kit of toothbrush, hair brush/comb, mirror
  •  swiss army knife
  •  can opener

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU COULD EVER REBLOG

the “bad bitch mentality”👑

- don’t settle. ever. whether it’s people or things. know your worth.

- don’t be catty or messy. focus on yourself. getting into fights and having beef with other women/people is really tacky.

- being a bad bitch doesn’t mean you’re mean. keep it cute and be polite and respectful, even to those you don’t necessarily don’t care for. being rude is corny.

- pamper yourself always. keep yourself up, look good for your own damn self.

- don’t let anybody waste your time bc it’s precious and contrary to what you may think, you don’t have much of it.

- YOU are your best support system. take care of yourself. be your #1 supporter.

- as a woman, you are often told to see other women as competition. stop thinking that way. look at the beauty in other women, and soon you will start to see beauty in yourself. build healthy relationships with women. sisterhood is so important.

- do not prioritize a man over everything else. a man is not your world. he just lives in it.

- success is the best revenge.

- don’t catch feelings for just anybody. your love and care is sacred, and for you to take it there with somebody, they gotta earn that shit. don’t fuck with anybody who doesn’t respect you and see your worth. stop fucking around with bum ass people that don’t give af about you.

- don’t let ANYBODY disrespect you. don’t take shit from anybody.

- don’t let anybody play you like you’re stupid. trust your gut, if you feel like you’re getting played, trust your instinct.

- you’re not only that bitch, but THE bitch. 💋

the “bad bitch mentality” pt. 2 🌹

(part 1 here)

*stop trying to “keep” a man’s attention. if they’re too dumb to stay interested they’re a fool & not worth the time. don’t stress over a fool, you’re better than that.

*don’t be easily fazed by money, looks, or popularity. when a guy that’s attractive or otherwise “unattainable” shows interest in you, don’t be surprised or fawn over him like “oh my god i can’t believe he’s talking to me” why wouldn’t he be attracted to you? you’re a beautiful girl. don’t be so easily impressed.

*don’t wait on others to validate you. think you’re pretty, smart, amazing, etc. without anybody telling you to. give validation & assurance to yourself.

*treat others the way they treat you. if they don’t have time for you, start filling up your schedule as well. text him the way he texts you. if they treat you like shit, cut them off. don’t allow people to give you half ass effort.

*always carry yourself with grace. control your temper & your reactions. think before you act. there’s a time and place for everything. not every action requires reaction.

*don’t be thirsty, it looks bad. for example: leaving extra ass heart eyes under guys pics= tacky. be very selective with the men you flirt with. not every man is worthy of your time. don’t be desperate. attractive men come a dime a dozen.

*have a high regard for yourself. do not associate with anybody detrimental to you. you become the people you hang around most, regardless of how strong minded you are. hanging around a bad crowd can get you in trouble and gives you a bad reputation.

*keep your business private. not everybody needs to know what’s going on in your life. avoid telling your problems to people that gossip or are otherwise loud mouthed.

*be educated. go to school, read books, learn from people older & wiser than you. knowledge is power. beauty fades. knowledge doesn’t.

On point!

self help tips

  • make your bed - even if you don’t think you can get out of bed you can still feel productive + clean
  • have a bottle of water by you - work on sipping it throughout the day and eventually you’ll get better at drinking the right amount and staying hydrated! if you’re still having troubles you could always have fruit squash rather than water
  • eat yoghurt - yoghurt is a great snack that requires no effort! its tasty and usually pretty healthy
  • baby wipes - these are a life saver for when showering isn’t an option, just wipe down your pits + bits (as my mum says) and around your face to feel refreshed
  • sticky notes - placing little reminders around your space is a good way to stay organised and positive. put them somewhere you’ll see them, or create a small place specifically for reminders and kind words. plus, it gives you a great excuse to go stationery shopping!
  • have a chilled drink - cold drinks are great for waking up and preparing yourself for the day, or rejuvenating yourself after a tough day
  • have a hot drink -  hot drinks like tea or hot chocolate are really good at relaxing you after feeling anxious or if you’re trying to get to sleep; they also make you feel warm + fuzzy when in the colder months. its also fun to try lots of different types of tea and pick a favourite too!! i wouldn’t recommend drinking coffee as it has lots of caffeine and can be bad for you if you drink a lot
  • make playlists - playlists are fun to make and fun to listen to. make playlists for every season, make playlists that remind you of a certain person or make playlists of songs you want a friend to listen to. make playlists for when falling asleep is too difficult, for when everything is too loud, or for when you’re excited. the possibilities are endless
  • try bullet journaling - a bullet journal is a quick and easy way to organise your thoughts and stuff you have to do. just google it!
  • write lists - lists are a great way to stop stressing about something coming up. if youre going shopping write a list of what to buy, alternatively if youre going to an event write a list of what you want to do and times

these are a few of the things that help me, if you have any more tips let me know!!
