Helping to spread this!
“Did you see the way that little girl looked at me? Kids. Little kids. They grow up believing that they can be a hero if they drive a sword into the heart of anything different. And I’m the monster? I don’t know what’s scarier. The fact that everyone in this kingdom wants to run a sword through my heart or that sometimes I just wanna let ‘em.” “We have to get you out of here. Over the wall. We won’t stop until we find some place safe, okay? We’ll go. Together. No matter what we do, we can’t change the way people see us.” “You changed the way you see me... Didn’t you?

ALICORNS:
Alicorns are beings that contain thr magic of earth ponies, unicorns, and Pegasi, they are much larger and stronger than their sums though and are often associated with royalty. Most know the most recent and main 6 alicorns, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, Twilight, Sombra, and Flurry Heart, but theres several more spread throughout Equestria. Most havent been discovered (at least by the main public) or have mistaken as different creatures all together. Most of these rejected alicorns have been lost to the ages, magic contorting their forms so severely that its unknown if theyre even ponies at this point. Nontheless, theyre alicorns, and theres far more than most could dream of
- At some point all alicorns must dedicate themselves to their destiny. For Celestia it was moving the sun, for Flurry Heart it was protecting thr crystal heart, etc etc. it may not be clear what these destined tasks are or understood why they must be done, but its expected for all alicorns to do this at some point. Its referred to as a Divine Vigil. In this state theyre completely unresponsive, foccusing all their energy on their designated task and only moving if absolutely necessary. The excessive use of magic that the alicorns must use 24/7 has morphed their bodies nearly unrecognizably, their cutiemarks taking over them completely. This doesn’t mean they’re weak, far from it. Their power is beyond what any mortal could possibly ever dream of physically or magically. Before the vigil an alicorn leader must have a successor and be sure that the state of Equestria will be safe before or afterwards, one cant just fuck off in the middle of a war for somwthing that doesn’t need to be dealt with immediately. These alicorns are now refered to as Queens/Kings/Monarchs (example: Queen Luna, King Sombra)

Friendly reminder that LGBTQ+, Queer, and LGBT+ are the preferred terms for the community (x).
Friendly reminder that Queer is approved by 72.9% of the people, and the groups who don’t prefer it’s use as an umbrella term are straight people, exclusionists, transmeds, truscums, sex-negative people, and sex work critical people (x).
Friendly reminder that aros and aces are excluded only 9.2% / 8.1% of the time respectively while being included 78.9% / 81.2% of the time (x)
Friendly reminder that exclusionists are in the minority and aro/ace people are included in the LGBTQ+ community by the people within the community.
Also, i checked out the survey the second claim sources a while back: this is not OP choosing the words truscum, exclusionist, etc. These are labels that the survey gave people the option to self-identify as. It’s self-proclaimed exclusionists who dont like the word queer, not random accusations
yeah that’s super important.
This one gets reblogged on main. The reclassification of ‘queer’ as an inexcusable slur is a recent development which stems in part from exclusionist rhetoric. We reclaimed it decades ago. Learn our history. You are not immune to TERF propaganda, but you can absolutely choose to educate yourself to spite it.
Be kind. 💜
This is a terrifying norm I’ve been seeing in fandom recently, with a lot of people asking for photo ID’s to enter a server or for 18+ commissions or to follow a private Twitter account. While I understand the sentiment and realize that there’s an issue of minors trying to get into adult spaces, this is an incredibly dangerous practice that needs to stop.
I have seen this popping up more and more in the past year and frankly, I’m sick of sitting back and watching it become a social norm. Not to mention, there is a huge difference between a company with a team of lawyers and legal statements with the intention to protect your information and giving this to a random person online.
Here is an article from IAPP discussing more in depth the current difficulties for age verification online. Thanks to @murmurkins for digging around to find this!
Here is also some resources for Discord specifically on how to moderate and run a server that has 18+ channels and designating a server as 18+. Discord also notes that if you are locked out of 18+ channels, you can appeal this by sending a picture of yourself and either a photo ID or your Discord tag. Again, while not a perfect solution, this is their last resort, not the intial requirement. It’s dangerous to do, and Discord recognizes this, which is why they have a system to protect your information AND they require that all third-party individuals have a privacy policy telling individuals how they will protect others’ information.
If anyone wants to respond to this post with more information on other websites, feel free! The biggest issue I have seen with this is on Discord, so that is where my information is focused.
TL;DR: Don’t give your ID out online to random people for your safety. Make sure who you are giving personal information to has a privacy policy. While it is an issue that minors are accessing 18+ content, this is not a safe solution to the problem.
I remember when Y!Gallery tried this back in, like, 2012. And most of us flatly refused. This blows my mind. What happened to the never share personal details online mindset of the 90s and early 2000s?
Facebook. Facebook happened.
There is NO VALID REASON for anyone online to ask for your photo ID.
Because - and hey, this is a BIG THING - you show photo ID in person so the viewer can look at it, and you, and say, “yep, those match.”
If you are conversing via email or chat… they cannot look at your face and confirm it matches the card.
If they CAN confirm it matches the card (like you’re meeting in Zoom)…. you can photoshop the damn card to attach your face to it.
You cannot usefully check photo ID online. The vast majority of people asking for “photo ID” are identify fraudsters, and the rest are people who don’t understand tech & security.
Do not share your ID with anyone online.
"Where has all the genuine self-expression gone? Now what used to be authentic subculture is turned into a performance of Aesthetic!" so many posts exclaim, usually concluding that the problem is Capitalism.
I don't disagree entirely, but. The problem is that y'all are so deathly fucking afraid of things Cringe, Weird, and Uncool that anything unmarketable, subversive, or oddball enough to be "genuine subculture" is gross and unacceptable to you.
People wish to see "genuine self expression" that is not a performance or a commodity.
Very well then. I assume you're appreciating and celebrating the dress, style and behavior of somewhat shabby, weird outcasts who firmly refuse to make themselves palatable to you?
I think some of you are forgetting what "subculture" means. If it makes everybody around you think you are cool and look nice, that's missing the point a little bit. That's just...culture!
When people express themselves in a way that is not a performance to appeal to others...
...it is actually very likely that they will...not appeal to you.
"Why can't people be unapologetically themselves, in a way that is of course never "cringy" or too weird or too ugly or uncool? Why can't we have self-expression without performance, in a way that is not boring to me and that doesn't weird me out?"
Do you see the problem?
There are still robust, thriving subcultures full of unique fashion and artistic expression...
"Ah, but you see, that one is personally unappealing to me!"
That's the Point, you fools!
I see how people talk about non-binary youths with hair dyed in funny colors. But there is such a young person of indeterminate gender I see sometimes on my college campus with "Trans Liberation Now!" and a bunch of other symbols and slogans hand-painted on their jacket, and they are a million times more "Punk" than anyone with simply piercings and spiky chokers
I was thinking about the incredibly cruel phenomenon of taking photos of strangers without consent and uploading them to websites so others can mock them, in the vein of "People of Walmart" and other such things, and when looking it up, I was disturbed to see how many of them are just 1) a fat person is in public (wow!) or 2) a (perceived) man is being obviously gender non-conforming
they are just existing. probably at a more advanced level than you.
