Pikmin 3 finished! I enjoyed the parts that didn’t frustrate the hell out of me. I love Pikmin, so it is fun. It’s just this particular one is plagued by bad controls, confusing maps, and absolutely terrible boss fights. The Scornet Maestro was okay. I didn’t enjoy any of the others one bit. The final boss in particular took forever, and the gimmick level wasn’t fun. But all that being said, it’s a charming game otherwise.
Another Pikmin 3 complaint I have is the disjointed areas. It’s difficult to plan things out when the distances between areas on the map are so far apart and not obviously connected.
I lost like 40 Pikmin and I don’t know where else to go. Totally killed my enjoyment of 3. :< I was on a roll, too. I’ll take a break for now.
Days in Pikmin 3 feel so short for some reason. I don’t remember feeling as pressured in Pikmin 1. The caves in 2 make the entire flow of the game different, but still. I’m always rushing and feeling kind of stressed in 3.
I’m enjoying Pikmin 3 more now that I’ve switched to the Wii remote and nunchuck. The stylus mode is just *so* infuriatingly bad, and the classic mode is a lie because it doesn’t feel like the GameCube ones at all. I really miss the swarming with the C stick, but otherwise, this is passable. Maybe I can try to finish it for real now.
Castlevania the Adventure ReBirth is still really neat. I appreciate the deep cut tunes they brought back, and the game’s challenging enough. I nearly made it to the boss of level 3 before getting a game over. Not bad for being out of practice.
I forgot that I never properly tried out Nintendo Land. Eeeeh. Not super impressed. Each of the single-player games are cute, but after ten minutes, I’m done with each of them. Perhaps the multiplayer ones are more fun. I’ll try them out when I can.
The Wii U is hooked up again, not because there are any Wii U games I want to play, but because our Wii no longer works. I suppose I could try Pikmin 3… a third time… I dunno, I just can’t get into that one. It’s not bad, but it didn’t hook me like the last two. I’d rather replay Pikmin 2 yet again tbh.
I’m using the Wii Shop Channel in 2023 to redownload Castlevania the Adventure ReBirth. The shop music is so nostalgic.
My N64 memory card still works, woo! But apparently I erased my endgame Quest 64 file at some point. The save on there is only a couple hours in. Maybe I’ll just replay the whole thing sometime. Maybe.
I’m trying to finish Nexus while I wait for EO HD to go on sale. Not sure why I chose the forever game to beat. I just crossed 70 hours and I still have a few more dungeons to go.
My party is so insanely powerful, though. I think I can definitely plow through with determination. I got stuck on an FOE puzzle in the western shrine and just brute forced my way through.
Hooray! After losing to Pegasus’s Madolche deck in LotDLE like 20 times, I finally beat it! Sheeeesh. I’ve made my own Madolche deck now. Time no never lose again.
Persona 4 Golden’s voice feature isn’t too useful when it doesn’t work most of the time. It constantly says there’s no data, and even when it does work, the mess of thought bubbles doesn’t really show me anything useful unless most people did the same thing.
I wonder why Activision published Bomberman Tournament with that title. It makes it sound like it’s focused on multiplayer, which I suppose makes sense for the GBA, but the much more notable feature is the single-player Zelda-esque action-adventure campaign. The Japanese title Bomberman Story makes more sense.
Hmm. My Pokémon Pinball RS save data is gone, but apparently it doesn’t use a battery. How annoying.
I decided to see how my NH island’s doing. It’s been a minute.
A villager rudely barged in the second I stepped inside my own home, but immediately left when he saw the cockroaches.
I’m still happy with most of my house. The onsen upstairs, basement bar, and relaxed main room are nice.
The most interesting part of FE Echoes was how they explained plucky teenage protagonist Alm being the leader. The knights are like, “Hey, so it’s actually really hard to convince peasants to fight this war when it doesn’t matter to them, since they’re paying taxes to one lord or the other. So we want you to be the lovable face, while we handle the logistics.” Great way to allow you to not have to worry about all that, while still acknowledging that there’s more to the war than Alm leading a small squad around.
A lot of my playtime on old RPGs came from me checking up on NPCs frequently. I was so fascinated by the villages of friendly enemies in Paper Mario as a kid, and would visit them after every chapter to see how they’ve been doing.
