ah fuck i can't believe youve done this (she/her/they/them im just here for my sideblogs ✌️)

The sad realisation that you're not actually a quiet person, you have just been forced and shamed into hiding your entire personality and expressing joy.

WEIRD TO DISCOVER IT IN MY 20s!!! FR!FR!

Do you know how awkward it is to realise you CAN actually make new friends easily and you LOVE talking on and on?? Do you know how awkward it is TO NOT KNOW YOUR OWN PERSONALITY?????

I found the most unsettling poem I must have written as a very young teenager. It sounds like some kind of invocation.

Half past twelve is underwater east and west and north and south one goes over and one goes under one is a hungry mouth.

She is the world and she is the window the starlight and the bramble wreath one is a carp and one is a minnow one is nothing but teeth.

The wind is soft and the water’s shallow and what has been will never be; hands of stone or hands of tallow, we will find them. One-two-three.

Unsettling, hell. I want this as a piece of word art for my wall.

also absolutely hate when people say "this is set a million years from now and there's still racism and homophobia? #problematic" and then you read it and it's a scathing and concise yet meticulous examination of our current views on race and gender and sexuality. you don't understand what the point of science fiction is. escapism is not the pinnacle of the written form that all genre fiction should aspire to. you're annoying me

the fantastical setting allows for the writer to make our current day issues larger than life and therefore more easily examined and deconstructed. in genre fiction fantasy is often used as a microscope and through it we can try to better understand what's gone so wrong with us in the modern day, we can try to point to the cancer in the cells. it's natural to want to escape sometimes (i love a good romcom for example) but you do need to confront a mirror every once in a while. the solution to your pain is not to bury your head in squeecore. sorry i said squeecore

gender to me is like a car i dont really want one and society would be much better if it was not structured around it. but i got one because it helps me get around and sometimes its fun to make it go fast

So incredible. 😍

Here's the thing. If you did that in say, texas, you would get 20 minutes of the sky, 40 minutes of a hillbilly fucking a possum, and then 15 hours of him rubbing his dick on the lens.

you wouldn't be able to get any stars in that 20 minutes because the buccees billboards would light pollution out all the stars

No disagreement on the possum fucking or hillbilly frotting? Just accepting that part at face value? You've been to Texas (or live there?)

i lived in DFW a few years (that doesn't really count as hillbilly texas) but yeah i trust op on the rest. texas is a weird place

my dad likes to call the stretches of time where you’re not creating “dreaming periods” and says that they’re meant to allow you to absorb all of the beauty, life, and inspiration from the things around you so that when you’re able to create again, you will have fanned your spark back into a flame. sometimes its hard to see those moments as anything but stagnation, but he always says that they’re natural and healthy and needed—things that should be embraced rather than feared.

it's good for your mental health to have mutuals who are wildly horny about kinks which do nothing at all for you

Avatar

this is both as in. sometimes you will realise that actually these kinks do do something for you and that can be very eye-opening and liberating

and also as in. sometimes you will hear someone decry these kinks as indicative of moral failing, and being friends with people like this makes you immune to that sort of knee-jerk outrage

Also primes you for awareness that there are a lot of people who like a lot of things you don’t like or even that make you uncomfortable, and that is okay, has nothing to do with their character, and is also none of your business.

It’s always good practice. Remember that minding your own business costs $0 and has numerous health benefits.

“Having freaky friends to immunise you against moral panic” is a take so good I can’t believe I don’t hear it more often.
