This reminds me that I have a box in my basement with about a dozen bottles of various Mystery Liquids that I pulled out of an early 20th century midden, that the museum would (understandably) not accession, but that I feel weird about throwing out.

To those in the notes saying I should get these analyzed - I actually do know a wonderful chemist who has done some mystery analysis for me in the past! But I try to pick and choose my subjects so I don’t abuse her generosity and time. And to be honest, most of these bottles are probably of the “1920s kitchen leftovers combined with groundwater seeping in” variety of mystery substances.
