🎉 HAPPY 2021 🎉

One thing that sucks about ShB’s huge success is that regardless of how good 6.0 is, people are going to compare it negatively, and regardless of my personal feelings I hope that sentiment doesn’t get too overwhelming because it can be really… demotivating? I feel it’s somewhat inevitable atm: ShB had a great advantage of being almost entirely self-contained & was able to do a lot of the things it did well because there was a ton of freedom. What we’re seeing in the MSQ now especially is a move to tying up loose ends in the plot as we move towards the end of the entire game’s incredibly complex and expansive story, so it’s naturally going to become a little awkward.
But beyond that - there are totally valid criticisms of the direction the story is moving in and just because I’m excited about it doesn’t mean I want to quash those, but I also want people to like… be reasonable about it and not get mad simply because it isn’t Shadowbringers. To be honest, even though I have huge faith in the team and in the potential for more amazing writing like ShB had, I am a little concerned about how hard it’s going to be to wrap everything up in a satisfactory way. It might end up not being as enjoyable as ShB, but I’m confident I’m still going to have a great time regardless, so I just hope that this is gonna be the overwhelming trend and not too much negativity.
The same thing happened with Stormblood. I think people would like it a lot more if they weren’t comparing it to Heavensward. I’ve found the people who liked Stormblood are usually those who still liked Heavensward, but didn’t like it *as much* as everyone else.
every person can feel freddie’s presence in their souls when they sing MAMAAAAAA UUHHHH, I DONT WANNA DIE, I SOMETIMES I WISH I’VE NEVER BEEN BORN AT ALL with all the air in their lungs i’m not joking
it’s fucking crazy to think about the amount of people who have sung bohemian rhapsody? like it’s such a unifying song, by nature of the fact that so many people know it. it holds so many good memories for me and other people. it’s a song you scream in the car with your friends while you drive around your boring hometown, it’s a song you drunkenly sing with your arm around your best friend, or a song you sing along to with strangers when it’s on in public. it’s bittersweet to think about freddie’s legacy carrying on like that through his masterpiece. freddie carries on because he’s a part of so many people’s good memories and bohemian rhapsody is a huge part of that.
Reblog if you have sung bohemian rhapsody with your friends
every time i see this post i’m reminded of the video of 65,000 people singing bohemian rhapsody in near-perfect harmony
like, what other song can make that claim?
Some of the highlights of that video include:
- The crowd cheering after the first stanza when they realize what they’re all doing
- So many people audibly ‘doing the guitar parts’… like ya do
- The sheer number of voices joining the rediculous falsetto (thanks, Roger)
- How they all start jumping at the ramp-up “so you think you can stomp me”
- Hands up, hundreds, thousands deep for the final “ooooo”s and the last line to close the song
Only days before my state went into lockdown, “Bohemian Rhapsody” came on in the restaurant kitchen I’d just been hired at and, no shit, every single worker in that little diner started singing along. Me (the only queer afaik), the manager, all the other kitchen workers, the dishwasher up front, the two people on the counter, all but two of the men over 30. Just belting out Freddie Mercury at the top of their lungs. And you can bet when “sometimes I wish I’d never been born at all” came around, we every single one of us ramped up the intensity and basically made sure Freddie could hear us in the afterlife.
If your gf/bf/bff needs reassurance on how you feel, just give it to them. We’re humans and go through shit. It’s nice to feel wanted.
Anxiety can be a bitch, and even when it isn’t, it can be nice to hear the nice words.
“The people who cling most tightly to this “punching up vs punching down” paradigm are those who really, really want to punch people, and want to know which people it’s okay to punch. Remember, this was originally a moral principle for regulating comedy. Insofar as comedy involves ridicule and mockery, comedy is “punching” as an art form – as entertainment – and “punching up vs punching down” is a professional ethic for comedians, people who “punch” others for a living. As such, comedians have an a priori desire to get on with the punching, and thus a need to identify which targets are fair game. But there’s plenty of other people who just want to get their “punching” on, and are delighted to have this “punching up vs punching down” principle because otherwise they didn’t have any principle at all which said that punching was ever acceptable. As far as they knew, being mean was always morally bad, which is a total bummer if you really, really, really want to be mean but also want to not think of yourself as someone who does morally bad things – or don’t want other people to think you’re bad for being mean. For people nursing this kind of covert aggressive impulse, this moral principle, that it is totally licit to “punch” people of more privilege, was like a declaration of open season. I expect there will be a lot of yowling and hissing about this post from people whose favorite toy I just took away, like cats protesting being deprived of their half-dead mice. Yowling from people who aren’t actually standing up for social justice - just getting their vicious jollies on.”

Where’s that post that’s like ‘tumblr is populated by people who wanted to be middle school bullies when they grew up’ cause yeah
An even more important section, IMO:
And then there’s people who treasure getting to “punch” others because they’ve been “punched”, and they feel - maybe deep down, in an inchoate, unexamined way – that fairness dictates that there be someone they get to “punch” in turn. The people who “punched” them used the rhetoric of fairness, or justice, or being wronged, to justify abusing them, so they feel when they’re wronged they should get to “punch”. Sunshine, that is not how this works. Nobody is entitled to have victims on demand. That is not what “punching” is for. Even if we allow the “punching up vs punching down” standard, it does not mean that because you had a bad day at work or a fight with your spouse that you are entitled to find someone of more status than you to use as a punching bag for the sake of soothing your emotional disregulation. People are not things to be used, and most specially not things to be used as drugs for self-medicating bad moods.
Methinks the Liv doth protest too much.
She says “there’s no barrier to entry in Social Justice”, then immediately says all the bad people were all fakes. Not a single SJ person has ever done a bad thing, to hear her tell it.
Followed by the classic “my side is literally just the pure, Platonic ideal of [good thing], and the actual actions are completely irrelevant!”
And frankly, if she read the entire post and got to the comments without realizing it was about social justice, I have to think she missed - or avoided -the entire point of the post.
This “punching” metaphor is exactly the kind of thought I have whenever I see “keep reblogging the straights/men/whites are mad.” Like, it makes it so evident that the point is to make people mad. Like bullies going all-in on bullying a special needs child BECAUSE that child gives them an especially strong reaction. They just think it’s fun they get to make someone else suffer.Like if it was really about educating and advancing society it would be about changing minds. Not making people mad. And they would mourn every time their “takes” are not convincing/proven/defensible enough to change people’s minds. They would not relish it!
im all the people in the notes who think this is bad
Archie Loyd tried to walk away from Trabucatti after being physically pushed, told him “you’ll work for me one day” when the man wouldn’t stop following him with two other people, Trabucatti punched him, and then Loyd died upon hitting the ground.
Trabucatti denies he is responsible in any way for the death, claiming Loyd came at him with fists raised. Every single witness denies this happened, even the people that were with Trabucatti.
This is not a privileged white person getting hit for talking shit. This is not a case of him getting his comeuppance for being classist or racist. This is straight-up a dude being stalked and attacked after not fighting back or making a motion to physically defend himself.
And there are people that are okay with this in the notes. That’s fucked up.
*long sigh*
OK but even if none of what @the-foley-knoll-horror said is true, a human being still died??? Because of words???
Can you imagine ifthe races were switched? If an authority figure injustifiably assaulted someone of a different race and it lead to his death?
We’d not only be takingit seriously but saying how it wouldnt have happened if he was white. Instead of mocking someone who died
There’d be riots.
Trabucatti is Greek, so I don’t see how that relates.
Any country on the Mediterranean is Schrödinger’s POC.
Friendly reminder that hating Pokemon Unite isn't just about ""no Sinnoh remakes or no let's Go Johto"".
Fucking Tencent is the one making it.
Tencent is known for spyware, punishes those who support the Hong Kong protests, are KNOWN to rip off larger companies or buy out larger companies if they're seen as competition, are extremely rampant with censorship of any kind, and were receiving personal information from Apple such as I.P Addresses, and the CEO is extremely honored by the communist party that supports Muslim concentration camps.
This company is absolutely fucking garbage and it's pretty obvious from the comment section of the video that everyone who knows about Tencent is chiming in with them dipping the moment they announced it was made by them.
And if that's not enough to stop you from wanting to play tencent has driven many players who actually did enjoy their games away due to the rampant cheating that occurs and isn't dealt with in their other online games. They're known to try and milk their gamers for money with pay to win deals and from the sounds of it ""free to start"" means you'll have to pay eventually no matter what and then continue to keep paying in order to succeed or advance in later levels due to the pay to win structure.
For those who are excited about this there are LITERALLY so many other games on this oversaturated market that spent time on their back grounds, and textures, and design that dont make them look like a dollar store rip off game. Please look into literally anything else.
Pokemon Unite is NOT the way to go
I'm sure that people in the videos comments did a MUCH better job of explaining the dangers of tencent instead of me and theyre most likely a lot more well aware of the first hand experience with them. But please just take my word for it when I say that the ""unfair hate around this game because it's not a Sinnoh Remake"" is bullshit.
There's hate for a reason
I’ll admit I was skeptical of these points bc there are no links or resources to back em up, so I did a little research.
So Tencent is a ridiculously large conglomerate holding company whose investments in video games ALONE pile up fast:
(Outside of video games, Tencent also invests in “search engine[s], e-commerce, retail, real estate, software, virtual reality, ride-sharing, banking, financial services, fintech, consumer technology, computer technology, automobile, film production, movie ticketing, music production, space technology, natural resources, smartphones, big data, agriculture, medical services, cloud computing, social media, IT, advertising, streaming media, artificial intelligence, robotics, UAVs, food delivery, courier services, e-book, internet services, education, and renewable energy.” Needless to say, the company has a LOT of influence and power.)
Regarding OP’s mention of the Hong Kong protests -- Tencent made a partnership with the NBA to secure rights to stream its U.S. games in China, but in October 2019, when Houston Rockets general manager Morey expressed support for the protesters in Hong Kong, “Tencent began sending out refunds to customers after cancelling the broadcast of NBA games" due to NBA executive manager Adam Silver’s support of Morey’s “freedom of political expression.” (x)
Regarding OP’s mention of censorship -- oh boy there’s a lot of info that proves their rampant censorship. Most notably, Tencent owns the social media app WeChat (which has “a billion active daily users”) and uses it to facilitate Chinese government surveillance and censorship. Millions of WeChat conversations were found to be relayed to police; people have been interrogated and arrested due to their private conversations. (There have been ”penalties against numerous WeChat users for mocking President Xi Jinping, criticizing judicial officials, commenting on massive floods, sharing information about human rights abuses, or expressing views related to their persecuted religion or ethnicity.”) Also, WeChat SIGNIFICANTLY distorts the news available to its users by using AI to find and delete select topics (including in 2018, the “deletions from some 4,000 public accounts...[of] major news stories like the U.S.-China trade dispute, the arrest in Canada of Huawei chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou, the #MeToo movement and public health scandals”). (x)
Regarding OP’s mention of ripping off other companies -- Tencent’s founder and chairman, Pony Ma, has famously said, “[To] copy is not evil.” There are plenty of allegations and remarks out there about his inclination toward copying.
Regarding OP’s mention of Apple -- at least in iOS 13, Apple’s “Safari browser uses Tencent’s Safe Browsing system to help fight malicious webpages--but Tencent may log IP addresses in the process.” Apple’s also had many issues with surveillance and censorship in China. (x)
Regarding OP’s mention of Tencent’s money-grabbing -- their popular technique of gaining revenue from games is to publish “free-to-play” games, such as Pokemon Unite, and then include in-game transactions so people will pay *after* having gotten into the swing of the game.
TL;DR: Tencent is a despicable company whose hand in a Pokemon game should be a red flag. Don’t support this company.
Y-you are an absolute godsend
I didn't expect this post to blow up like it did, but that's probably a poor excuse for no links
Thank you so much for taking the time to find sources 🥺🥺🥺

This is the Baby Money Yoda, reblog in the next 60 seconds of seeing this to receive a blessing from our green bean prince.
you meet real interesting people in early morning/late night dungeon roulette. today i am going to talk about the “your boy eggnog” healer.
i queue in as a tank and i get the aery, and right away the first thing the healer says is that he doesn’t feel like healing, so i might die. already we’re off to a good start. the first few pulls aren’t anything truly noteworthy – he seems a bit slow to keep me up, but no close calls, nothing especially worth noticing until he shouts in all caps in party chat:
“MR POSTMAN"
and then before anyone can respond:
“who do youy think yoiu are?@!”
being that i’m the only one with the postman title equipped, i answer, “the postman”
“you aint never gonna get my love!“ he tells me.
“mr. the white,” i say in reference to his own equipped title, “we have a purely professional relationship.”
Recirculating this classic, this absolute gem, for those who might not have been around when 3.0 was current.
Extroverted Introverts: Ten things to know
Also known as an ambivert, an extroverted introvert is someone who exhibits qualities of both introversion and extroversion.
1. Their spot on the spectrum changes with their environment.
Your ambivert friend may be loud and gregarious around their family, but quiet and thoughtful at the office. Seeing them in both situations may feel like meeting two entirely different people.
2. Talking to strangers is fine – but don’t expect them to keep it to small talk.
Although an ambivert can hold up their end of a conversation, talking about the weather will not be enough to engage them. Their social energy is limited enough that they won’t want to waste it on meaningless chatter. They will likely push the conversation into deeper territory or bow out entirely.
3. They like to be alone – they don’t like to be lonely.
There is a big difference between the two. Choosing to sit at home with a tub of ice cream and a book feels fantastic. Sitting at home because nobody called them back feels sad and lame.
4. Getting them out of the house can be a challenge.
If you catch your friend on a highly introverted day, you may just be better off leaving them at home. They might manage to be social, but they’ll just be thinking about their books and their couch the whole time.
5. If they’re new, you can find them in the back of the room.
An introverted extrovert will approach new situations with cautious excitement. If they know someone in the group, they will likely cling to them a bit as they become comfortable. If they do not, they might waver on the edge of the crowd, slowly getting used to the water rather than jumping in all at once.
6. They’re selectively social.
They don’t mean to be snobs. They just have limited social energy and prefer interacting one-on-one or in small groups. For this reason, they can only afford to invest their social time and energy in those who they feel truly connected to.
7. Making friends is easy. Keeping them is hard.
They like talking to people, but they value their alone-time, as well. This can make maintaining a friendship tricky. If your ambivert friend makes an effort to consistently invest time and energy in your friendship, be glad. You are truly special to them.
8. Their social desires change with the breeze.
They might be desperate to hang out with you on Friday, but then not answer your call on Saturday. They’re not mad at you. They’re just super comfortable in bed watching films.
9. They can talk to you for hours.
If you manage to catch them in a one-on-one situation, an extroverted introvert will just not shut up. Once their interest is engaged, there’s no stopping them.
10. Listening is great too, though.
Sometimes they want to be a part of the action, but their social energy levels are too low for them to contribute in a meaningful way. Listening allows them to get to know you without burning up their social fuel. They also know its value from their chattier moments when they are desperate for an ear.
This is literally me! Fascinating!
Yikes, this is me pretty much to a T. >.<
Called out lol
Never seen it put so accurately.
The picture in the background of the second one
Tama is boss
THE TRAINS HAVE CARTOON TAMAS ON THEM
Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.
Beautiful.
Now I’m crying thanks
and a new cat was hired right?
yep! her name is Nitama (essentially ”second tama” or “tama II”) and she served under Tama as an apprentice before being appointed her deputy
she works very hard
Everytime this crosses my dash, I reblog. It is the law.
I’m crying at 11pm over train cats
Nitama, already now a mature cat (born 2010), has a protege named Yontama (fourth Tama, b. 2016). There is no information available for either the physical befellment or tragic self-disgrace which has removed Santama from contention.
^Nitama majestic, and below with Yontama
Yontama.
a legacy
okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back
“Sun-tama-tama” (a pun off of “Santama”, lit. “third Tama”) was a calico cat sent for training in Okayama. Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]
As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.
Every time I see this post there’s new info and it gets better
You are only allowed to scroll pass this after you pay tribute to the great Tama Station masters.
I’m not sure how her Sloth is so high when she also exercises frequently, but hey I don’t make these things.
