By the way, if it was Harry Potter or Percy Jackson please don’t answer because I’m trying to see what else people loved. Also, children’s, not YA.

There’s a lot people saying “I’d pick this book but it was in different language so I don’t think it counts” and, uh, yeah?! It counts!

I wanna know what you were obsessed with and that includes the books in your native language!

Just because I’m an ignorant mostly monolingual doesn’t mean you guys are?

One my favourite books right now is written in Shetlandic so… it’s allowed.

i cannot stress enough how much the smug "well the handmaid's tale would NEVER happen to WHITE women" idiots really need to watch the new docuseries about the duggars and bill gothard/institute in basic life principles on amazon....

“There were corpses here and there, and pools of blood on the pavement. I remember a white butterfly which went and came in the street. Summer does not abdicate.”

I’ve been meaning to draw this quote for years! Happy barricade day friends!

Compare classic literature characters that share names and if they would get along. I’ll go first.

1. I think Jane Eyre and Jane Fairfax would get along well. What with the governessing and coming from a poor background. As well as marrying obnoxious men even though Frank Churchill retains his limbs at the end.

2. Henry Crawford and Henry Tilney would not like each other at all.

3. Frederick Wentworth and Hale have sailing going for them so they would have at least something to talk about.

4. Anne Shirley definitely has the energy to make friends with everyone (because she’s unbelievably kind), so it’s obvious she and Anne Elliot would be friends.

  1. Sir Clement Willoughby (Evelina) & John Willoughby (S&S) would love each other and become best friends. It would be terrible and the world would become a worse place.
  2. Charleses (Charlsi?) Bingley (P&P), Musgrove (Persuasion), and Vernon (Lady Susan) would be best friends forever and go hunting on the regular.
  3. John Thornton (N&S) would absolutely hate, but be civil to John Thorpe (Northanger Abbey) because one of them is actually a gentleman. Miniseries version would punch Thorpe and I'd be down for that.
  4. Edward Weston (Agnes Grey) and Edward Ferrars (S&S) need each other in their lives and I actually want them to meet. Agnes and Elinor would totally get along too!!! Edward Rochester (Jane Eyre) is not invited.
  5. Thomas Buchanan (The Great Gatsby) and Tom Bertram (Mansfield Park) were buddies at school and both played polo. Fortunately, Mr. Bertram improved and later regretted the friendship.
  6. Robert Gibson (Wives & Daughters) would hate Robert Ferrars (S&S) with an unholy passion and vent to Molly about it. However, he would love and respect Robert Martin (Emma)

  • The girlbosses are all within 10° to the left of the center of the political spectrum and will try very hard to get you to invest in their MLM

  • The reenactors have booze, but your phone is dead and they’re giving a very pro-America history lecture
  • The influencers have a pool, a jacuzzi, and lots of drugs, but they have a combined net worth that teaches seven digits and won’t let you forget it
  • The retirees have great weed but they’re gonna ask you a lot of invasive questions and give you a lot of unsolicited advice.
