There was an actual bracket, but reylo got obliterated in round one, and after the poll was done, someone suggested it would be funny to do a "bonus round" where every tournament contestant is pitted against reylo to see how many ships, if any, reylo can beat

Beans.
My partner and I have a running joke with a friend. Every time he goes on holiday we increase the quantity of beans in his flat.
The first time we bought ~30 cans of kidney beans and hid them around the house like some Easter egg hunt thing but with beans.
The Second time we bought ~6kg dried white beans and hid those in various places. Nearly every receptacle that could safely hold beans became the home of beans. My personal favourite was emptying an oat milk carton, very carefully washing and drying it, filling it with beans and then just putting it back among several other cartons.
He went on holiday again a couple of weeks ago. Obviously there is an expectation of bean-based shenanigans. And obviously we have to beat our previous efforts.
Our friend has (had) a mosaic on his wall of the famous Marilyn Monroe Pop-Art by Andy Warhol. He made the mosaic himself. Over the last couple of weeks we have spent hours and hours assembling a frame, drawing up a pattern and gridding out a 70 x 70 frame and gluing an untold amount of beans to it. I have spent over 21 hours gluing beans to a frames.
For the last couple of days I ended up going to bed at 5:00 am because I lost track of time whilst experimenting with which types of glue works best with different beans (I now have *opinions* on this, y’all). The day of our friend’s return we spent the morning and afternoon grouting the piece and wiping it down and wiping it down again and wiping it down again because grout is just like that. In the evening we went to install the mosaic, just a few hours before his return. Here’s a comparison between the original and our clearly superior replication, and the new piece installed in its rightful place.
It took him over a day to notice. So for over a day he was wandering round his house knowing there were beans somewhere, but not knowing where.

Forever thinking about how, on election day in 2016, I wore a shirt with an American flag on it because it was what was clean. And the 20-ish year old bagging my groceries made a snide remark about it, followed by 'I didn't vote, they're all the same anyways.' And a fellow grocery worker chimed in agreement that he wasn't voting for the same reason.
And now I can't go to a local drag event without having to walk through a gauntlet of nazis.
I realize that the election is a year and a half away, but please don't fall for the 'they're the same' rhetoric this time around. Both candidates will suck, but they'll suck in different ways and one of them wants my community dead.

voting on a local level is so incredibly important. as is running for things on a local level. so many republicans that are currently passing anti trans bills in states like missouri ran completely unopposed. the Glorious Revolution is not going to happen overnight, so in the meantime we NEED folks challenging these seats.

Bob Iger announced that Disney is going to absorb Hulu, and Hulu will no longer exist next year. All shows will move to the Disney+ app.
Disney also announced they were going to remove shows and movies periodically from their streaming services.
I believe both of these moves are because of the Writers Strike.
Disney knows its going to lose the strike. There is too much public support. Specifically, the WGA is going to win writers getting more residuals from streaming.
So if Disney takes shows off of streaming, they dont have to pay the writers the residuals.
They are going to use excuses like "not enough funding for the server capacity" or "not enough views to warrent keeping the show". These are BULLSHIT. Its all greed. Its only GREED.
Pay attention to what happens in the following weeks.
And keep supporting the writers' strike.
This is similar to what happened with HBO - new owners merged two streaming services, and all of a sudden there wasn't enough server capacity for all the shows somehow. A total lie.
Time to start downloading EVERY Hulu show. Hoist the colors high.

Imo the funniest part about tiktok is that despite how ridiculous and pervasive the censorship is, there's no evidence that any of it actually works. People get videos with allegedly suppressed words to go viral all the time. The Washington Post's social media team even did an experiment where they tried to get a video suppressed or banned by saying as many "bad" words in it as possible only for it to become their most popular video by a wide margin. Hell, the only tiktok to crack a million views on my account is also one of my most profane, and some of my other most popular vids are jokes about BDSM with no censorship.
The practice of self-censorship was developed because people saw that their videos were flopping and assumed it was because they were getting shadowbanned for mature content rather than accept the reality that The Algorithm is random and unpredictable.
That entire app has made it standard practice to use Orwellian newspeak euphemisms for everything for literally no material reason. It's like the online equivalent of every desk fan in south korea coming with a timer because a huge swath of the population there believes with no evidence that you can asphyxiate if you sleep in a room with a fan running overnight.
A similar phenomenon happened on Twitter. People straight up believe they can't say words like "commission" or "fundraiser" or "auction" or else the algorithm will hide their posts from people, but the fact is people just tend to interact less with posts asking for money or advertising a product. Despite several tweets debunking it, I still see people still to this day censoring the word commission because they think it will help more people see their posts.

the reason so many characters who "use humor to mask the pain" or "are assholes with hearts that care DEEP down" are mischaracterized in fan content is because fans would like to explore the more vulnerable side implied but not shown all the time in the source, but in doing so forget the outer layer the character actually acts like most of the time, which then echoes as fans begin to immerse themselves in fan content exclusively without going back to the source for a long time. that is to say that you cant separate the outside self a character presents to others from their inner self and insecurities they are and have inside - they may have issues, but theyre still funny and/or an asshole
