Be you, The world will adjust

Life is a question and how we live it is our answer. -
“I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

F. Scott Fitzgerald

I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.

Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath 1982

“She doesn’t say “I love you” like a normal person. Instead, She’ll laugh, shake her head, give you a little smile, and say, “You’re an idiot.” If she tells you you’re an idiot, you’re a lucky man.”

“It’s okay if I’m not your favorite chapter you have written, but I hope you sometimes smile when you flip back to the pages I was still apart of.”

Unknown

“(…) no one wants a half-remembered tragedy. You must know the width of the knife and how it ruined you, name the organs it kissed.”

— Life of the Party, ‘Addendum II to No Baptism’ by Olivia Gatwood

Full offense but your writing style is for you and nobody else. Use the words you want to use; play with language, experiment, use said, use adverbs, use “unrealistic” writing patterns, slap words you don’t even know are words on the page. Language is a sandbox and you, as the author, are at liberty to shape it however you wish. Build castles. Build a hovel. Build a mountain on a mountain or make a tiny cottage on a hill. Whatever it is you want to do. Write.

I don’t remember if i’ve reblogged this before… but it is still an important reminder
