In exactly ONE MONTH!!! from now, me & Natalie's new graphic novel "The Bawk-Ness Monster" from @01firstsecond will be released! On that very same day we'll ALSO be at a book launch event at BookPeople in Austin! We'll have a live drawing demo, audience Q&A and a signing. You can RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bookpeople-presents-natalie-riess-sara-goetter-the-bawk-ness-monster-tickets-634846822937 or check out the BookPeople website for more info. We're really looking forward to it!

Yesterday (5/25) was Dibbit + Boo 2′s second anniversary!

I know things have been very quiet since last year; I’ve been kept very busy by a number of announced projects. I still very much await the return of my free time to dedicate to continuing this strip.

In the meantime though, I’m happy to announce that Nat and I will be attending MICE in Boston this fall (September 30th-October 1st), and with it we’ll be selling a print collection of the first year of strips. I’ll share more details as things develop!

“Penny swears that when she was a little girl, a creature called the Bawk-ness Monster—half sea serpent, half chicken—saved her from drowning. Now, years later, she’s about to move away to a new city, and before she goes, she needs the help of her best friends, Luc and K, for a vitally important mission: seeing “Bessie” one more time. But in their quest to find Bessie and give Penny the send-off she deserves, the kids stumble into a whole new problem—cryptids are being kidnapped by an evil collector, and only Penny, Luc, and K can save them!”

Environment shots from me and Sara Riess-Goetter’s upcoming graphic novel, The Bawk-Ness Monster! It’s coming out in June of this year, and you can preorder it at your favorite local bookstore or request a copy at your local public library! More info here!!!

For some weird reason on our books that we collaborate on, I get listed on sites like goodreads as the writer and Sara as the artist. This is incorrect! We both write (me doing structural setup/action stuff and Sara doing dialogue, acting, and making the jokes funny), Sara draws the characters and letters and I do the colors and BGs. I’m proud of my bg work on this book…I love drawing forests!!!

The book comes out in just a few months, so I’ll be talking a little more about me and my wife’s middle grade GN about kids looking for weird creatures over on my professional/book work account!!!

At some point in 2019 or so I just got really into this “Redeemed Raditz hanging around as just a weird annoying uncle” AU. He really likes cats and won’t ever wear pants.

in an effort to use tumblr more, I made a sideblog for DBZ fandom/more casual blogging over here, if that’s more your speed.

It’s the one year anniversary of Dibbit + Boo 2, and here are the long-awaited results of the first ever character popularity poll! Thank you so much to everyone who voted and in general for the support the comic has gotten, it means a lot!

does the dungeon critters graphic novel include all 3 issues or just the first one? i can’t find physical copies of 2 and 3 online :’D

Dungeon Critters (2020), the graphic novel published by First Second, is it's own original standalone story, using elements from issues 1-3 of the single issue Dungeon Critters shorts that we self-published from 2016-2017. It's confusing, but the issues were like, the Dungeon Critters OVA/pilot while the graphic novel is Dungeon Critters: The Movie, if that makes sense.

Dibbit + Boo 2: An Introduction

Think of these pages as the "Opening Cinematic" that introduces you to the general concept. The rest of the comic will be 4-8 panel strips. Click that next button (or wait like, a couple minutes for me to post it) to see the first strip.

I know this is a weird thing to suddenly return to but the GN I co-created with Natalie Riess that’s coming out September 29th, 2020 is also being posted as an updating webcomic as a free preview of sorts! The first 16 pages are up on the site now, with 80 or so pages planned to be posted leading up to the book launch! Come check it out! I’ll try to remember to post updates over here on tumblr as well.
