a letter to students,

because I need it right now. your worth is not your grades. an assignment is not worth sacrificing your mental health. your body, your mind, is the only one of its kind, and it shouldn't be given up for an A that'll get lost to time. because grades will be lost to time, but you won't be. you have so many years ahead of you—and if you look back on yourself now, you want to see someone happy.

yes, it's always nice to do well. yes, what you do now will affect your future.

but what you do now will affect your future. if this is your one chance, go: go live, and laugh, and eat foods that you enjoy, and make friends and fall in love with the world. grades are important, but happiness is more.

all I'm saying is that focus on yourself as much as you do your work. one day you'll look back and be grateful for it.

and most of all, I love you. don't forget that.
