Why was James so obsessed with Lily? Was she the prettiest girl at school?

Lily being the prettiest girl in school? I doubt it, but who knows it could be true.

I think she was the prettiest girl in gryffindor, and given how highly James thought of the gryffindor house, it's safe to say that could be why he sought after her so much. Plus never in the book does it mention him being friends with anyone who isn't in gryffindor, so I doubt he'd fall for anyone in any other houses.

Not only that but we know James was spoiled as a kid, because he was a miracle baby. His parents had tried for years for a child and then they wound up with James, so I get why they would spoil him. With that said James is use to getting what he wants, and being liked, so when Lily first rejects him that must of shocked him. From then forth he'd try to win her over, because it was like a challenge, something he had to win.

It doesn't help that Lily was friends with Severus, someone completely opposite of James, and that alone upsets James because he clearly thinks highly of himself.

Oh an another one that kinda ties into the last one: wizard fashion seems very old timey, they were robes that go down to their feet and on pottermore jk said that women’s dresses tended to be long. How do you think J&S with their pureblood upbringing would react to muggle girl’s fashion on the day that had them in mini skirts and tube tops? Would it be a mix of slut shaming and arousel (which seems to kinda be a common male reaction to the exposure of the female body unfortunately. Sigh.)

They'd probably be shocked by it all at first.

Given how they are, yes I feel like there would be slut shaming from them. Mainly from James and Sirius, Peter would simply chime in if he were around when they talk, and Remus wouldn't stop them, like always cause if he didn't stop them from bullying Snape then I doubt he'd stop them from bullying others. He'd stay quiet and then feel guilty about it later, tho he may say something so long as their alone in their dorm.

If they thought Snape was weird (more like a freak but still) then they would think Luna is weird too. Tho they'll most likely insult her behind her back (either because she's a girl or because she's a ravenclaw)

They'd probably make fun of tall girls, especially one's in slytherin. They'd most likely make playful, not really, jokes about it, then act shock when the girls would get offended, and then laugh afterwards about it.

No, no I don't.

I think he might have spoiled her yes but not for that reason.

I think James lied to Lily in order to sleep with her. I think this because supposedly James had changed. That he deflated his head a bit, and stopped bullying people. That was a lie, because he continued to bully Snape behind her back.

So if James wanted to date Lily and get into her pants, then he did so by lying to her about finally changing something she cleary wants to see happen to him.
