So, if Luke presumably trained Kylo from a rather young age until he was around 23 years old, and Snoke has only been training him for the past six years (and has presumably taken a break for who knows how long by the time TFA rolls around, as Snoke suggests with his “time to finish his training” comment), it’s no wonder Kylo is so conflicted, really. He’s much closer to a Jedi than a Dark side user.

a thought/head-canon hit me when reading this, what if Snoke wanted kylo to stay partially light side just so his inner conflict is something that will always be with him, drive him forward/mad in seeking out the dark, making him feel “un-finished” so his (snokes) grasp on him could manipulate him (kylo) even further.. i mean as long as kylos training is un-finished he can never leave snoke/kill him/take over bla bla bla.. It kinda enhances the whole “emotional abuse” even further, its a very cruel manipulation method and scary as hell, Snoke is keeping Kylo in limbo, not allowing him to finish his training and become what kylo has been taught to desiree (sith) but also not letting him embrace the light..like.. hes actually making him hate himself for it instead..

- urgh sad head-canons are sad.

This makes even more sense when you think about Snoke telling Kylo that killing Han was his ultimate test. Snoke knew that Kylo wouldn’t feel more powerful by doing that, he would feel even weaker and more conflicted. That’s what Snoke wants, to keep him weak and in constant suffering. Probably because Snoke fears how powerful Kylo is, that’s why he took him away from his Jedi training, where Kylo would be able to develop his full potential with Luke, and instead of helping Kylo to be stronger, Snoke is actually holding him back.

^^ I never looked at it this way. Hmm…then what about Snoke saying now that Kylo Ren’s training should be completed? Is it because of the now looming threat of Rey coming into the picture? I guess we shall see what happens next

Avatar

I wouldn’t be surprised if Kylo’s final test is to kill the new object of his compassion aka Rey. Or Leia, no one less than his mom. Either way, i don’t think he will be able to do this.

Avatar

yeah I think so too, also (on another note regarding why snoke want to finalize his training) Rey kinda makes him weak and draws kylo closer to the light, which sorta un-dos snokes “work” on kylo, feeling it necessary that since rey is pulling him closer to one side (the light) he needs to pull a bit harder in the other direction as well.. kinda also thinks that Snoke sees this as a “final battle” thing and intend to off kylo once this is over so he might as well use him for his full potential just once before he gets rid of him

Okay but guys I think that’s what Snoke IS doing. He’s keeping him conflicted on purpose. Having him use two completely different disciplines, that in itself must be torture. “Kylo Ren is the embodiment of conflict, drawing upon contradictory teachings and deriving power from discord.” - Visual Dictionary “Supreme Leader Snoke believes Ren to be the ideal embodiment of the Force. A focal point of both Light and Dark side abilities.” - Visual Dictionary  Why would Snoke be so invested in using someone whose abilities he thinks  are already ideal if he was going to change him and train him to just be Dark? I think he WANTS to keep Kylo conflicted, because he draws power from it. But it also keeps him compliant. The constant conflict and confusion will always have Kylo looking to Snoke for answers, guidance. He keeps Kylo believing that he is dependent on him. When really, it’s the other way around. Snoke’s the one who needs HIM. Otherwise, why go through so much trouble to have this particular force user on his side. Because Snoke’s weak as he is now and Kylo would be a threat. So he has to keep him close. They don’t seem to trust each other very much, Kylo knows he’s being used and Snoke had a tracker put on him… but Snoke’s all he’s got. That’s what he believes, so he’ll dutifully follow until something changes his mind. And his next test, whatever it is, may very well break him. Push him to whatever his limits may be before doing away with him once he’s no longer needed.

ohh my god didn’t know there where such solid evidence for this, now I’m even more sad cus its actually canon..urgh I honestly dont understand how anyone can bypass the obvious abuse kylo/ben suffered is still suffering at Snokes hands, this is horrible and kylo ren deserves a fucking redemption cus killing him off or turn him 100% evil with this in his bagage would be down right cruel to his character IMO..

A glitch in the matrix is an experience that proves something isn’t right in the world or sometimes your brain.

Here are some creepy experiences that are supposedly true as reported by these users.

  • DEAD BUT NOT DEAD

by reddit user 3clipse

I knew my uncle had died.

My mom had called me and told me the news. It was very sad. She told me in the middle of work and I told one of my coworkers. He expressed his condolences on my loss.

A couple weeks later, my sister mentioned my aunt and uncle doing something. I said “but…he’s dead.” And my sister said no, he wasn’t.

I called my mom. No, he wasn’t dead.

To this day I’m still not sure how much of it my brain imagined and how much was real. Did I really talk to my coworker? Was I even on the phone with my mom at all that day?

It still freaks me out knowing that my mind could fabricate so complete and real a memory like that.

  • WHY DID WE TALK LIKE THAT

by reddit user WittyRepost

Several years ago I woke up in bed next to my (now ex) girlfriend and we had a conversation in fluent French. I got up and got in the shower, and as the water started running I realized, neither of us spoke French. When I got out I asked her about it. She remembered it happening but was as confused as I was. I can’t even remember what we talked about because I don’t fucking speak French. Brains are weird.

  • FORGOTTEN

by reddit user Joevual

My dad has epilepsy and says that he’ll experience this when he doesn’t take his meds. Sort of like a fugue state. He went to Aspen on a business trip to design a ski lodge and he forgot his meds at home. He was supposed to do a big presentation but he never showed up. His coworkers looked for him for hours until they finally found him walking down the highway in the snow, 8 miles from their hotel. Apparently he had completely forgot who he was, where he was, and why he was there. He figured if he just started walking he could piece things together and figure things out. He snapped out of it when he saw the familiar faces of his coworkers.

  • A DIFFERENT PATH

by reddit user A_lot_of_italics

One day I was walking to work and all of a sudden had an urge to walk a different path than usual. I work downtown in a big city. It was a strange spur of the moment urge to walk a different way that changed my life forever.

I turned into an alley I had never seen before. As I remember it, I made it about fifteen feet or so when an actual “glitch” happened. Everything in my mind scrambled. I felt like I didn’t have a body anymore, just that I was a semi-conscious entity floating through some weird dimension. All of a sudden in the array of different colors and shapes a vision came to me. It was a bunch of strange looking people that in my mind resembled businessmen in suits. They looked startled and panicked that I could see them. One of the “people” made a quick movement and everything turned to black.

When I regained normality, I was on a completely different street. It was the same street that I always use to walk to work. I felt sick, and severely disturbed/depressed.

I’ve never done any hard drugs, never experienced any hallucinations, never have had anything like this happen to me. The weird thing is, when the glitch was correcting itself and I could see those “people” watching me like a caged animal I had the feeling that I knew I was being controlled. It still bothers me very much to this day.

  • A SHARP BEND

by reddit user pistacchio

When I was like 10 or 11 I was going to the beach with my aunt and her friends. There were two cars of us. To get there we had to go through a very large industrial area. We didn’t know the direction, so our car was following the other. Suddenly, they did an unexpected turn and so our driver had to take a sharp bend.

In that moment we heard a very clear, loud voice inside the car saying laughing “Sharp bend, hm?!”. The driver immediately hit the brakes. We looked at each other, puzzled: we all recognized it as a voice not belonging to any of us.

In the very same time, we noticed that the other car has stopped as well. The other driver got out of the car with a scared face and shouted to us: “Did… did you hear that as well?”.

They heard the very same thing inside their car. The area around was full deserted.

  • THE SUICIDE DREAM

by reddit user 47attemptslater

When I was a teenager I had two really intense dreams one night. The first one was about an online friend of mine calling me to say she’d broken up with her boyfriend, and I sang a few lines of Seal’s “Don’t Cry” to her over the phone. The second dream was finding a (real life) friend dead body floating in her bathtub.

I didn’t think anything of it up until I logged online that evening and the online friend came online to tell me her boyfriend broke up with her. I immediately asked if I could call her, and she said no. I remember thinking that it meant something, like I could change it. Not long after, my phone rang, and it was Real Life friend from the dream calling me. I was completely freaked at this point, but talked to her normally… she was just talking about school and shit… up until I realized I heard a splash in the background. I asked her, “Are you in the tub?” and when she said yes I felt like my heart had stopped. I asked her, “What did you do?”. She didn’t answer me right away, and then after a very long pause she told me she’d taken an entire bottle of pills and chased it with mushrooms and vodka. She’d gotten scared waiting for it to hit her… so she called me so she’d hear someone’s voice. I hung up and called 911. By the time they got there she was unconscious, but alive. Today she’s a mom to a beautiful little girl, and she’s ok.

  • NO BRUISES OR SCRATCHES

by reddit user mbalsevich

Was monkeying on the hand rails of a balcony on the 4th floor of my building and fell off, as 2 of my buddies watched in horror.

I remember seeing the concrete floor approaching as I fell head first and thinking “oh fuck - I’m going to break my wrist” (Why my wrist? dunno)

Next recollection is seeing my buddies yelling, from up there, “Are you OK!? ARE YOU OK!?”.

I look up, I say: “What happened?”.

They did not see my actually hit the floor, they just ran outside and saw me already standing looking up.

Not a scratch, not a bruise, nothing hurted. I don’t remember hitting the floor, standing up, nothing. No memories exist for those 1 or 2 seconds.

None of us 3 ever understood what happened. But we all saw it and agree on what happened.

  • MY EYES ARE BURNING

by reddit user ClassicJenny

About 15 years ago my friends parents, Steve and Julie, were woken up at 1am to a very loud THUD that rattled the house. Worried that one of the kids had fallen out of the bunk bed Steve went downstairs to check on them but all three kids were sound asleep and safe in their beds. Julie told Steve to check the house in case of intruders so Steve checked the doors and windows before going outside to take a look.

After ten minutes of investigating the noise Steve came across nothing unusual and went back inside to go to bed. He found his wife absolutely worried sick and she demanded to know where the hell he had gone and what happened. Confused and tired Steve told her he found nothing and tried to calm her down before Julie pointed out that it was now 4am and that he had been missing for 3 hours. Julie had even gone outside to check on him and he was nowhere to be found and didn’t respond to her calling his name. Unable to figure out what happened they returned to bed and slept until Steve had to get up for work in a few hours.

Steve owns a painting business and a couple hours after working on a house he noticed his eyes started to feel itchy, then his eyes started to burn, then after a couple hours his eyes burned so badly that he was holding his eyelids open as to not blink because it felt like his lids were sandpaper against his eyes. His employees rushed him to the hospital and Steve was treated for second degree flash burns on his eyes. He was told his burns were equivalent to staring at a welders torch without eye protection for an extended period of time. His eyes were treated and he was lucky to have his vision fully restored.

I’m looking for some glitch in the matrix stories! Please post your own!

Royal Dress- Shipwreck Treasure

Marine archaeologists have unearthed something pretty incredible in a 17th century shipwreck off the coast of the Netherlands - a sack filled with extraordinarily well-preserved treasures, including an elaborate silk gown, silk knee socks laced with silver and gold thread, a velvet embroidered pouch, and a bunch of leather-bound books stamped with royal emblems.

They were found buried in the sand at the bottom of the Wadden sea, at the site of a known shipwreck that’s thought to have sunk nearly 400 years ago.

It wasn’t until they’d hauled the package up from the sea floor that they realised they’d stumbled on a one-of-a-kind time capsule, which offers an unprecedented glimpse into the life of one of the wealthiest women in Europe at the time.

So who was she? While it’s not yet clear, the team that analysed these artifacts and says that the slight wear on the gown and other articles of clothing suggests that this was an (incredibly extravagant) everyday outfit for whomever owned it. (Source)

Just a reminder that I’ll be posting the stories that get to me the most on my personal blog! Please give it a follow (sixpenceeeblog.tumblr.com/)

I suppose I should preface my story with the fact that I wasn’t always a religious man. I mean I’m still not, but at least now I know there’s something more than just “us.” I don’t know about some ultimate plan or divine judgement, but I hate to break it to you atheists, there’s a whole other world waiting for you when you die.

i think people underestimate how well all the elements of tfa work together to create a story without having to rely on dialogue (music, iconography, direction, etc.)

because rey spent 5 minutes onscreen without ever speaking and that was all it took for us to learn who she was and to fall in love w/ this fresh-faced young girl making it on her own on a remote desert planet

Rey’s introduction is like the textbook example of “showing not telling”. Glorious.

DRAMIONE APRIL FAVORITES // Day Five: Tropes - Potions Partners

“Oh-ho, so you admit I’m good-looking, eh? Always knew you thought so deep down.”

(this was gonna be a comic but then it got too detailed and then whoops there was no time to make it look nice so have a gross sketchy scribble I guess??)
Let me give you a hypothetical example. Let’s say, in a future Star Wars movie, all of the characters want Rey to kill Kylo Ren. But at this point, Rey has grown to care about Kylo Ren very much. She doesn’t want to kill him and is desperate to redeem him instead. So desperate that she even risks her own safety by going to him to beg him to come back to the Light. This doesn’t turn out so well, as Kylo Ren refuses and hands Rey over to Snoke instead. However, though he doesn’t want to admit it, Kylo Ren secretly cares about Rey too. And when he sees Snoke torturing her, about to kill her, he is overcome by the power of love, rescues her, and is finally redeemed in the process. If they put something like that in the films, anti-Reylo folks would be outraged. They would say Rey’s agency had been thrown away for the sake of Kylo. They would compare her to a sad, loyal little puppy for going and begging him to turn good. They would say the writers turned her into a damsel in distress for Kylo Ren to heroically save, and that his “magical love for a woman” redeemed him in the most sexist of ways. Here’s the thing, though. Read that hypothetical example again. But this time, switch Rey’s name with Luke’s, Kylo Ren’s name with Darth Vader’s, and Snoke’s with the Emperor. Yes, that’s right. That hypothetical example I gave is literally the end of Return of the Jedi. If Luke can redeem someone he cares about without being weakened or sacrificing his own Hero’s Journey arc, then Rey can also redeem someone she cares about without sacrificing hers. By all means, let her be powerful and independent. But also, let her be human. Don’t be afraid to let her love people.

ALL OF THIS!

YES, EXACTLY! EXACTLY!

How does love and compassion make a woman less powerful and significant?

It’s sad but women characters are judged by higher standards than male characters and everyone refuses to admit it

(via reymous)

Ben had the wavy dark hair that Han remembered, now shoulder length. His mother’s cheeks. Han’s chin. Yet everything about him was narrow and stark, as if he had starved himself of nourishment. And his eyes were not the dark brown eyes Han remembered. They were dim and dark and terribly sad.

Han Solo seeing his son again, as described by Michael Kogge in the junior novelisation of The Force Awakens (via starwarsnonsense)

Okay Reylo Shippers I get it...

I'm coming to an understanding:
1)Kylo Ren is redeemable no doubt about it, I can definitely see him heading back to the Light. When Adam is acting he does such microexpressions that not only do you see the anger, pain but you sense confusion and hesitation when Kylo is doing the evil things he does.
2)Rey is completely different. She has so much Light in her despite her situation; Kylo and Rey both have the same abandonment issues. Yet Rey has transformed her energy into Light instead of channeling anger, fear, and pain(all ingredients of the Dark Side).
3)Rey can trigger redemption in Kylo. The Same way Luke tried to redeem Anakin but by then Anakin was dying.
TL/DR: YOU GUYS AREN'T CRAZY. I see why you guys ship them.
Yes he did torture her, but so did Anakin cut off Luke's hand and I know he did love Luke enough to want Luke to not succumb to the dark side.
The Dark Side does crazy shit to people.
Maz Kanata to Rey: "The belonging you seek is not behind you, it is ahead."
Kylo Ren: *Lands literally 5 minutes later outside Maz's castle.*

I absolutely LOVE your theory, absolutely brilliant! Buuuuut I do have to ask the obvious question, I mean Finn and Luke look more different physically than really any two human beings can. So do you mean he is Luke's adopted son?

Avatar

This is a great question. Made me think.I even went back and took a look at some shots of the actors.I think it’s more so a case of him taking after whoever his possible mother is. I mean, for instance, Leia looks little like Anakin - she more so resemble her mother and Luke looks little like Padme - he resembles his father.

Add on top of this that a darker skinned parent’s genes would probably be likely to taken over…If Luke’s possible wife was of African decent, it’s possible that those genetic features are just more present in their possible child.

Even still, there are some familial traits that Finn, Luke, and Anakin all seem to share. Particularly in the jaw, chin, lips, and facial structure. Even Anakin’s eyes and Finn’s are comparably similar.Really, when you look past race/skin color, there is actually quite a decent resemblance.

The problem here is that these are two very different questions.

“Could Hamill be Boyega’s bio father?” is not the same question as “Could Luke be Finn’s father?” The former is a question about real world genetics. The latter is a question about human decision making operating within a framework that is divorced from any real world genetics unless it chooses to acknowledge it.

A better question would be, “Would the middle aged white Hollywood liberals who cast this film consider Boyega’s skin color or facial morphology to be a reason not to cast him?” The answer is no. More specifically, would JJ and Kathleen consider it a deal breaker? The answer is a no with a side of “Actually they would loooooooove the idea of using people’s assumptions and blindness as a Jedi Mind Trick.” They have the ultimate rejoinder: this is a movie about space wizards. Does it vex you that Hayden Christensen doesn’t look like he could have been fathered by An Abstract Concept?

They cast a perfect Finn and a perfect Rey. The only thing they knew going in was that they would not cast them both white. For Finn, the finals the Hollywood Reporter and other industry sites had out were three white guys (one of whom was Jesse Plemons), a light skinned biracial black man, an East Asian man (Dev Patel), and of course Boyega. What this means is that Finn absolutely cannot be a Windu or a Calrissian. While it is reasonable casting that Finn could have a white parent, it is not reasonable casting that any of those very white actors could have a black parent. That is the sort of thing casting would definitely consider. That is a choice they would not make.
