okay, so, honestly, this little rant has been hanging on the edge of my fingers for months, and now i’m finally at a point where i want to scream it from rooftops, so i thought i ought to write it out. 

anyway, this is about fan fiction writers. yeah, yeah, i know, you hear about us all the time. but do you really?

writing is the most unappreciated art form ever, i swear. a lot of fandoms are entirely based off of books. the fan fictions within fandoms are, like, crucial to the people within the fandom. but you don’t give a fuck about the writers. like, i can post my writing, and it’d be a fucking miracle if i get even half as many comments as i get kudos. of course, comparing kudos to hits has it as me being damn lucky to even get a quarter the amount of kudos as there are hits.

on tumblr, i see a lot of posts. fanarts, fanmixes, edits, graphics, gifs–you name it. once in a while, i’ll see a piece of writing. i think i’ve seen maybe three posts of writing that have 1k or more notes on it, total, since i’ve joined tumblr nearly three years ago.

writing is hard. we work just as hard as those graphic makers and those fanartists, and not getting the same credit and love for it sucks. it’s disconcerting. it’s the kind of shit that makes us lose motivation. i’m lucky to have a lot of writer friends who understand and are supportive. not every writer has that. 

i get it! sometimes you don’t want to reblog it, sometimes you don’t have time to say “wow that was great!!!” sometimes the writing isn’t good. but if you like a piece of writing, do that writer a favour, and give them a comment, say what you enjoyed about their writing. don’t be an asshole about it if there was something they didn’t do right. if you don’t like it, leave. every person has a favourite flavour

we don’t get paid. we do this for the pure joy of it. one comment can make a day, i promise. i’ve had so many kind comments that have made me cry. we don’t get the credit we deserve, far too often. and maybe this is just me being a pissbaby, but it’s exhausting and it’s annoying and it’s fucking difficult to deal with. i see more posts on tumblr saying to appreciate fan fic authors more than i’ve seen reblogged fan fics. 

writers aren’t obligated to write and post things for you to read. and you’d be pretty fucking sad if we just disappeared all of a sudden. 

like, i’m sorry, i just get so annoyed with it. i’m not popular. i don’t get thousands of hits on my fics. i have to advertise a lot just to get people to so much as look at my fics. to get them to leave kudos, to comment–well, that’s a whole other story.

i’m not trying to be rude, but appreciate your authors a little more. i promise, you’ll get more out of it as well, if you don’t have it in you to be a decent human being for the sake of being a decent human being. by which, i mean that motivating and author will make them write more, and thus you’ll have that next chapter a little sooner than you might have had you simply left it.

anyway, that’s my thoughts, as a fan fic writer. a rather infuriated fan fic writer.

Finally, I was inspired enough to make a video about Draco and Harry again ;). This is an AU to the events at Malfoy Manor - Voldemort forces Draco to torture Luna and Ollivander, but Draco refuses and is tortured himself instead of them. As he disobeyed the Dark Lord he is sent to Malfoy Manor prison together with Luna and Ollivander. When Harry, Ron and Hermione are captured and brought to the manor, Harry meets Draco in the dungeons and they have conversation, which eventually leads to Draco escaping the grounds of Malfoy manor with Harry and the others. They become close and together they fight Voldemort. – Sorry for the mix of British and American accents, obviously there was nothing I could about that.
