I’ve been looking for this really helpful post about artist growth… where you get to these points where your skill doesn’t match your knowledge of what SHOULD look good, and then it flips… it looked like a double helix on the graph, if that helps. If anyone happens to have that pic I’d love to see it again!

Here you go!

There's also this one, I just prefer the one above because it's easier for my brain to parse.

THANK YOU!!! This is exactly the one. I like both versions but yeah the first is a bit easier to take in

Nappy.co

You know how long I've been looking for something like this!?

To any sketch artist out there too.

[Image ID: a black woman wearing a plaid shirt and red bandana around her head. Her braided hair is coming out of the top od her head and falling in front of her. Text says "Did you know there's a black-owned stock photo company nappy.co that provides stereotype-free images of black people" /end]

the other day i was trying to find reference images of black people for art things but all i was finding were black-and-white images of white people! love this!!

Also! They accept submissions. If you’re a photographer and want to contribute, the button is on the bottom left of the webpage.

Just a reminder about fatphotoref.com—it exists!! I'll be updating with new photos next week and hopefully more regularly after that. Request access by going to bit.ly/fpraccess 💙🧜‍♀️ happy mer may!

It is not Mermay anymore, but the moment I saw these mermaid poses, I knew I wanted to paint one of them for exercise :D So last night I finally managed to do that. Colour-wise I wanted to do something inspired by Yuming Li, because their delicate balance of colours is so incredibly fascinating, and I want to understand it.

Playing with the Cintiq again... It's like I don't feel what I'm drawing somehow maybe I'm too used to draw with an Intuos now.

I see a lot of those mobil games using ai images for their ads. I mean you can tell when it’s ai because some of the details will be weird looking. If it was a human artists they would pay attention to those little details

“There’s a legend about a Chinese painter who was asked by the emperor to paint a landscape so pristine that the emperor can enter it. He didn’t do a good job, so the emperor was preparing to assassinate him. But because it was his painting, legend goes, he stepped inside and vanished, saving himself. I always loved that little allegory as an artist. Even when it is not enough for others, if it is enough for you, you can live inside it.”
