But talking about psychotic villains, my advice to people who want to write one is honestly: don’t. Regardless of how sensitive and educated you are, we live in a culture where being psychotic is so demonized that is deeply, inextricably associated with being bad, with being evil, with being a horrible person. Don’t just give into that. We already got so many psychotic villains - we have so many psychotic villains that in most people’s minds, “psychotic” is synonymous with “bad” and “evil” to a degree where they are scared of and don’t want to be associated with psychotic people. If you want to write psychotic characters, go write a psychotic hero instead of yet another psychotic villain. Go challenge the stereotypes instead of embracing them.

Seriously, a couple hours with this and my first chapter is so much better. It helped me see problems I KNEW I had (passive voice, showing vs. telling, adverbs) but was having a hard time sussing out. It has made editing so much more fun and easy because now I know what the hell I’m doing and what to look for instead of stumbling around blind shouting “adverbs? adverbs?” like a town crier. I can already tell I’m getting better at seeing things without the program having to show me too.
I officially worship this thing.
