"I'm personally a holocaust survivor as an infant, I barely survived. My grandparents were killed in Auschwitz and most of my extended family were killed. I became a Zionist; this dream of the Jewish people resurrected in their historical homeland and the barbed wire of Auschwitz being replaced by the boundaries of a Jewish state with a powerful army... and then I found out that it wasn't exactly like that, that in order to make this Jewish dream a reality we had to visit a nightmare on the local population.

There's no way you could have ever created a Jewish state without oppressing and expelling the local population. Jewish Israeli historians have shown without a doubt that the expulsion of Palestinians was persistent, pervasive, cruel, murderous, and with deliberate intent - that's what's called the 'Nakba' in Arabic; the 'disaster' or the 'catastrophe.' There's a law that you cannot deny the Holocaust, but in Israel you're not allowed to mention the Nakba, even though it's at the very basis of the foundation of Israel.

I visited the Occupied Territories (West Bank) during the first intifada. I cried every day for two weeks at what I saw; the brutality of the occupation, the petty harassment, the murderousness of it, the cutting down of Palestinian olive groves, the denial of water rights, the humiliations... and this went on, and now it's much worse than it was then.

It's the longest ethnic cleansing operation in the 20th and 21st century. I could land in Tel Aviv tomorrow and demand citizenship but my Palestinian friend in Vancouver, who was born in Jerusalem, can't even visit!

So then you have these miserable people packed into this, horrible... people call it an 'outdoor prison,' which is what it is. You don't have to support Hamas policies to stand up for Palestinian rights, that's a complete falsity. You think the worse thing you can say about Hamas, multiply it by a thousand times, and it still will not meet the Israeli repression and killing and dispossession of Palestinians.

And 'anybody who criticizes Israel is an anti-Semite' is simply an egregious attempt to intimidate good non-Jews who are willing to stand up for what is true."

There is a photo attached of Dr. Gabor Maté, a 79-year-old Hungarian-Canadian, visible from the tips of the shoulders up. He is wearing a flannel scarf and a blazer. He has an open face, and it is hard to discern if he is smiling, or has a neutral expression with a smile-shaped mouthline.

There are ads here on tumblr as well. Tiktok is putting warnings on videos of people who are only mentioning what is happening in palestine. Instagram is deleting accounts of people who are reporting straight from gaza.

Biden questioned the number of deaths reported in Gaza, after which the health ministry came out with a report over 200 hundred pages long with personal information on the killed individuals.

24 journalists have been killed in 21 days.

Yesterday internet and phone services in Gaza went down, due to the heavy bombardments.

The voice of the people in palestine is being silenced in every way you can imagine.

So the least you can do, is share what is going on. Use all your platforms. Even this one.

This is the paramedic who found his family among the dead victims. I thought it was only his mother who got killed, but I was mistaken. But his sister seems to have survived only.

They're telling him to calm down but he fell to the ground saying: My family. My family.

The man consoles him saying: We're all one family here. Each one of us has lost their family. Look, my sisters are in there. We have to get back up. You're strong.

Share this. Call israel on their crimes.

I was asked why there's a zionist claim that the Palestininian identity is not legitimate. And I think it's important to understand why Palestinians as a whole are seen as a threat by Israel. To understand why it's not about Hamas.

The claim is that the Palestininian identity was made up in order to push us out. Palestinian existence is a threat to the legitimacy of Israel as a country.

I was taught in school that Palestine was empty when we got here. They used a Mark Twain quote. It was a barren land full of swamps and some nomadic people (Beduins) but as soon as we wanted to come here, the awful antisemitic Arabs sent people to settle here before we could to take up the space. I was in school in the settlements though. I was taught the most extreme version of this.

Another version of this is that Palestine was never its own thing, they're just Arabs the same as all Arabs from the surrounding countries. So they could just... scooch over and give us the space, please and thank you. In Israel no one uses the term Palestinian. If I do, people roll their eyes and dismissively go "Arab." An Arab is an Arab. It's a way to strip away their unique identity and blend them in with the rest to say they could always move to Jordan, or Syria, or Lebanon, and it's all the same to them.

It's a way to make Palestinian existence by itself into a malicious plot to deny us a homeland.

Because if Palestinians exist as a distinct group of people, we aren't the only ones with a connection to this land. And you don't create an ethnostate by sharing.

You still hear echoes of this mentality. Why won't all these Muslim countries take the people of Gaza as refugees? That's asking why they won't let Israel make its ethnic cleansing more neat and convenient. Yes, refugees should be taken in and given shelter. But this question shifts responsibility away from Israel. Palestinians shouldn't be forced suffer either ethnic cleansing that leaves them as refugees, or a genocide.

The reason for the very heavy bombing of Gaza tonight is that the Israeli army is attempting yet again to infiltrate Gaza at several points.

It has tried this thrice in the past couple days to disastrous results for the IDF

The guy speaking is Douglas MacGregor, a retired US colonel. According to him, American and Israeli special forces attempted to infiltrate Gaza and they ended up taking heavy losses. Reminder that Gaza is the most militarised place in the world. Underneath it is hundreds of kilometres of tunnels built at least 45 metres deep into the earth. If you know anything about history, you know tunnels and guerilla warfare defeated Americans in Vietnam and later Afghanistan.

Right now, the IDF is trying to infiltrate Gaza again. This isn't the ground operation it has been promising but a test

The situation is still ongoing but I can't say it's going well for the IDF (and likely American special forces)

I would also like to remind everyone that a ground operation in Gaza will trigger a regional war

And these are not empty threats. I've made numerous posts about this. Here are some of the latest events in the lead up to tonight

The situation is Gaza is still unfolding. It is going to be a long night. In the morning, we will see horrifying pictures of the destruction caused by Israel. We will hear about the many civilians who were murdered in their homes and on the streets of their neighbourhoods and in hospitals waiting for treatment.

We will also see the humiliation the IDF has endured while trying to occupy Gaza. Remember they are not invisible and they will be defeated.

We must never stop believing in a free Palestine.

My position on “blue no matter who” now is that I don’t care about whatever nebulous prospective genocide you think might happen in the states if Biden doesn’t win, I care about the two genocides he let happen in less than 3 months. I will not prioritize theoretical lives over real ones no matter what histrionics some fandom blog wants to go to

I've had people in my notes saying we still need to vote for Biden because if we don't Republicans are going to "exterminate" Black/brown/LGBTQ people overnight once elected, which a) obscures how fascist state repression of marginalized people in the United States actually works, and b) shows me these people are raging hysterical narcissists still so high on 2017 Teen Vogue YA protagonist You Know What Fuck This Fuck You brain they worm their way into thinking not only they're on the same boat as Palestinians but fuck them they're getting to the lifeboats first. Really just so many layers of compounding liberal brainrot and USAmerican main character syndrome I'm amazed their brains haven't collapsed into black holes yet.

The site of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh’s killing in Jenin has been bulldozed and her shrine desecrated, in an unexplained early-morning operation on 26 October.

A surfaced road running between houses has been reduced to huge boulders of broken concrete, and earth dug to over half a meters depth. Vehicles passed up and down the lane. One day after, even walking amid the smashed rocks would be a challenge. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has joined its affiliate, the Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate (PJS) in condemning this act of vandalism and recalls on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh.

The road, Balat al-Shuhada’ Street, in the Jabriyat neighbourhood of Jenin is thought to have been ploughed up by heavy civil engineering vehicles at approximately 3 am on 27 October. Locals state that these were operated by members of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). Paintings of Abu Akleh, and tributes left on the spot where she was shot have beed destroyed.

Nasser Abu Bakr, PJS president said: “This is a monstrous act of destruction. Shireen’s family and friends have found some solace visiting the place where she was shot down, and placing tributes. This wanton act of vandalism is surely revenge for the report just issued by the UN that states that Israeli forces ‘wilfully or recklessly killed Abu Akleh’. It underlines the need for her case to the investigated by the International Criminal Court ICC, with which the IFJ has already lodged a complaint”.

IFJ General Secretary, Anthony Bellanger said: “I have visited this site myself and know firsthand how important it had become to those who mourn Shireen’s loss. It is hard to see this destruction as anything other than a cruel act of vengeance, of a kind that can only exacerbate tensions in Palestine. The sooner the ICC gives this case the attention it deserves, the better”.

As always, the Irish speak nothing but facts.

How many more innocent civilians have to be killed by Israel before you condemn that for it?

That is a genocide.

That this is a crime on all accounts.

And deserves to be punished to the full extent off the law.

BDS expanded their list of companies to boycott.

Many companies are complicit in Israel’s genocidal war against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza. All peaceful popular efforts, including boycott and divestment, to hold these entities accountable for their support of Israel’s crimes against Palestinians are justified. BDS focuses on a specific number of the most complicit targets in order to maximize our impact. We call for boycotts & divestment against @CarrefourGroup, @Siemens, @PUMA & others, due to their proven complicity in Israel’s violations of Palestinian human rights. Some companies, like Carrefour, have doubled down on their complicity by donating thousands of personal packages to the Israeli occupation army, thus directly supporting its commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Other companies, including @McDonalds, @Dominos, @PizzaHut, and @PapaJohns, have also made generous donations to Israel’s genocidal military.
They all deserve to be boycotted and divested from, regardless of the claim that their branches in various countries are wholly or partially owned by local businesses. The parent company is complicit for allowing its Israel branch to support an ongoing military aggression that leading scholars of genocide have described as a “textbook case of genocide.” We encourage continued pressure on entities that support apartheid Israel and its genocidal war against our people in Gaza. This child in gaza is screaming:

"I wish it was a dream. Oh, mom and dad. I wish it was a dream and my mom and dad are still alive" after being rescued from underneath the rubble to find his parents killed by Israel.

Share this, we are not numbers. Let our voices be heard in hopes that this stops.

seriously though how many wars are fought where one side can completely cut off an essentially trapped civilian population of 2 million people from water, food, and electricity? how many battles are fought where one side basically controls the perimeter and the borders of the area theyre bombing?

the narrative framing of hamas’s attack as “the most jews killed since the holocaust” is such a dishonest and vile invocation of the shoah. trying to connect palestinians resistance to nazism in this specific instance, when personally i think indiscriminately bombing the modern equivalent of the warsaw ghetto is a little bit more connected to nazism

Gonna reblog this with these replies in the notes:

Interview with a Jenin refugee camp resistance fighter.

I highly recommend watching the full episode here (warning for graphic violence). It documents the violence inflicted on Palestinians in the West Bank including raids and attacks earlier this year.

It's not hard to see why young people are drawn to armed resistance when they grow up refugees in their own homeland, having their families killed and arrested by Israeli forces. What choices are left for Palestinians? Of course they will resist, of course they will retaliate. Why do only Israelis have the right to defend themselves? Palestinians are humans too, they want freedom from occupation and colonization. The violence will not end as long as Palestinians continue to be displaced, killed and oppressed by Israel.

The absurd claims of Palestinian chemical weapons are all the more disconcerting with the background of the purported IDF plans to flood the tunnel network beneath Gaza with nerve gas, under US military supervision. There is no scenario where such an act wouldn't result in a massive release of chemical agents onto the surface - meaning the literal gassing of the captive population of Gaza. Given the IDF's consistent and repeated behaviour, this would almost assuredly be claimed to be the result of nonexistent Palestinian chemical weapons, be reported on uncritically by the western press, and receive absolutely zero repercussions.
