How to Enchant Objects

This is just my way of enchanting objects. There’s probably tons of other ways to do it, but this is just what I find works best for me. Enchanting an object is when you give a specific object a purpose, like protecting, or good luck. Jewelry works great for this but it can also be something like a chap stick, a coin, or a hairpin. Enchanting objects is a great idea because you can take the object with you just about anywhere, and it’s super discreet.

1. Cleanse the object you want to enchant

This firstly should involve physically cleaning it if you can, whatever that involves without damaging it. Next you want to cleanse it of negative energies. I like to pass it through smoke or put the object in salt, depending on what it is. It’s important to clean the object of any existing energies before you give it a purpose.

2. Find the associations for the purpose you want.

Say you want it to bring good luck. Some associations for good luck might be a waxing moon, cinnamon, the colour green, Mondays, bay leaf, peridot, pyrite, citrine, etc.

3. Pick the ingredients you can find or want to work with.

You don’t necessarily have to have a variety of herbs and crystals, but say one herb, and one crystal will probably be good enough. I always like to use a candle, but I also have a large variety of candles to choose from.

4. Get a small dish and arrange your ingredients as you like.

Now would be a great time to light that candle if you’re using one. Place the object either in the center of them, or on top of them. As you do this, make sure you’re focusing on filling the object with an intention. Tell it what it’s supposed to do, and when it’s supposed to happen, and for how long. Be very clear, maybe even be thinking of ways it could fulfill that intention for you. Meditate on that for a few moments.

5. When you feel you’ve filled it with enough intent, it’s probably a good idea to leave the object like that overnight. I like to set it out in the moonlight to charge it up, but do what you feel is right at this point.

REBLOG FOR LATER

Oof, I’m going to need this

All of the above! This is an excellent resource.

“Smashed” has been released on Amazon! It contains every story from “Voices in the Dark” and “New Voices in the Dark”, aside from “Glyceride”, which has been translated and released in 2018′s “Shiver”.

Cleansing Spray

Let’s face it. Not everyone likes to burn a bundle of herbs to clear there space. There’s the hassle of trying to avoid burning yourself with your cheap lighter, you get ashes and embers everywhere, and, well, not everyone likes the pungent smell of burning sage or rosemary or whatever.

I know there’s plenty of posts going around saying you can just use water and salt to cleanse your space, and yeah, that’s totally true!! It’ll work just fine, but sometimes you just want something with a little more punch.

Which is why I created this spray What you’ll need:

  • Purified water (for the base of the spray)
  • A little rain water (for cleansing properties)
  • Rosemary (for cleansing, protection)
  • Sage (for cleansing)
  • Peppermint (for energy, prosperity, abundance)
  • Lavender (for stress relief, peace)
  • Salt (whatever kind you have will work)
  • Essential oil (whatever you want)
  • A colander or something to strain the water with
  • A pot
  • A stove to boil the water and herb mixture
  • An empty, clean spray bottle

What to do:

Begin by prepping your area. I made sure I had all of my ingredients laid out, turned on some relaxing music, and lit my working candle. Prepare your herbs by washing them and gently patting them dry if they’re fresh. If they’re not fresh, measure out how much you need.

Place the pot on the stove and turn the heat up to medium-high. Add your purified water and a splash of rain water. You only need enough to fill your bottle. I started off by adding some Himalayan pink salt (I associate it with love and protection). You don’t want to add too much salt if you plan on using this mixture to put on your walls or furniture. Add each herb into the mixture and bring to a boil.

While the heat is rising and the energy in the water is increasing, focus on your intent and charge the water. Once it begins to boil, take it off of the heat and let steep until the water is cool. At this point, I stood over the mixture and stirred in some of my personal power symbols. If you don’t have any of those or a sigil you’d like to use, simply stir clockwise to promote good feelings or counter-clockwise to banish negativity. It’s totally whatever you prefer.

Once it’s cooled down, strain the water and add to your bottle. You want to make sure it’s nice and cool so you don’t warp the plastic or let the plastic seep into the water. Now you can add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil and you’re done!

How to use:

For a quick cleansing effect, simply spray the area that needs cleansing and notice an immediate boost in the energy around you. Need to strengthen your wards? Spray this on your doors and windows and visualize it coating the entire surface, creating a barrier between your home and outside surfaces.

Spray this in your carpet before vacuuming to get rid of whatever might be sticking in those pesky fibers!

The possibilities are endless!!

🧼Witchy Soap Making🛁

Hello Witches! So awhile ago i posted some pictures of my Yule soaps cooling and a bunch of yall wanted to know my methods so here ya go! (This is going to be a longggg post guys and im on mobile so no page breaks sorry.)

First thing you will need to do is choose your soap base. I use glycerin because it draws moisture into itself (which is great for locking moisture into your skin. Also it lathers BEAUTIFULLY for shaving) and because lye based soaps are a bit too chemically intense for me.

Glycerin melt and pour soap bases are widely available online (read Amazon😍) and come in a wide variety. You have shea butter glycerin soap, goats milk glycerin soap, honey glycerin soap, and soooo many more. I usually use goats milk glycerin BUT if you want to witch it up you can certainly use your own correspondences.

Next choosing scents. I use essential oils in my soaps (which if you havent read the posts that circulate every now and then you should use SPARINGLY and properly diluted. A teaspoon of rosemary oil in a pound of soup is alright. But be careful for skin reactants and please dont burn yourself). However when properly diluted, essential oils really add a lovely scent to your soaps that can last on the skin for hoursss.

(Side note: NOW is my favorite brand and ive never had any issues with them. I have with other brands though. Be sure to pick a good quality brand that doesn’t contain alcohol or other questionable ingredients.)

When choosing scents, there are a few things to keep in mind (which you can find pretty easily as perfumers basics online). You want three types of oils in your mixings to create a signature scent^tm. A base note, a middle note, and a top note. Base notes generally consist of your woodsy patchoulis, cederwoods, cloves and the like. Mid notes would be more citrusy or a little lighter in nature like your lavenders, oranges and lemongrasses. And for top notes these are usually more floral like jasmine, ylang ylang and lemon verbena.

The purpose of combining scents like this, is because the top notes are what you first smell from the scent, but are also what evaporate most quickly, then the mid notes and so on.

Some of my favorite combos are (for two pound at a time pours)

4 tsp Vanilla Essential oil

1 tsp Orange Essential Oil

¼ tsp Clove Essential oil

1 tsp Patchouli Essential Oil

2 tsp Lavender Essential oil

2 tsp Vanilla Essential oil

(I like vanilla okay?)

1 tsp Orange Essential oil

2 tsp Tangerine Essential oil

1 tsp Bergamot Essential oil

(This one doesnt have all of the notes, but it smells sooo refreshing)

If the scents arent strong enough, you can always add a little more. When diluted in two pounds of soap a little more wont hurt.

The last element of your soap is mostly for visual purposes, though you can certainly make it witchy, and includes things like coloring, flowers and salts. One of my more recent soaps pictured here

Is orange because of the tumeric i used while mixing the soap (this is the tangerine orange soap). However, mica powders and edible glitters can also be added for an extra punch. The soap above it included crushed lavender flowers (the lavender patchouli soap) and the one above that (mens shaving soap) sodium sodium bentonite clay.

Alright so now you know what kind of soap base youre using and have picked your scents and inclusions, you are ready to begin!

  • You will need a double boiler OR a pot large enough for a large metal bowl to melt your soap in.
  • Your soap (i use about two pounds) cut up in smaller cubes for ease of melting.
  • A spatula to stir with.
  • A whisk or fork.
  • Your essential oils.
  • Your inclusions.
  • A mold. (I use the disposable tin bread pans a lot of the time and they work just fine.)
  • Something to cut your soap. (This can be a knife or a special tool its up to you)

First things first on about medium heat, heat your water to begin melting your soap. DO NOT GET WATER IN YOUR SOAP. A glycerin soap pour can be ruined by water faster than you can say quidditch.

While thats melting, youre going to want to prepare your inclusions. Pictured here is blue mica powder and pink Himalayan salt. I like to mix it with a morter and pestle to be sure everything is completely incorporated.

Now after your soup is evenly melted, you’ll want to add in your powders and whisk it together well in order to avoid lumps. (Think pancake batter. Below is the example with the blue mica powder and Himalayan salt.

After this step, you’ll want to remove your mixture from the heat and allow it to cool off before adding in your essential oils. If the oils are added too quickly, the scents will burn off and you’ll be left with scentless albeit colorful soap.

Once this is done and your soap is wafting tempting notes of citrus or warm spicy cloves in your face, pour the soap into your molds. As you can see from the molds pictured now is the time to add flowers or other (skin and plumbing safe) decorations. If topping your soap with salt i would wait until a thin film starts to form so it stays on top better.

After this step is done, youll need to wait for the soaps to completely firm and set. Depending on the thickness of your soap, this could be anywhere from a few hours to overnight. I usually wait overnight so that i can be sure everything is set enough to cut. (Side note as with candles, soap should not be cooled in the refrigerator. Firstly because it can cause uneven cooling and a large hollow hole in the middle and secondly because when the soap comes out and begins to sweat it can ruin your soap batch.)

After you’ve let your soap set, its time to cut it into bath soap size slices; about an inch to an inch and a half is usually a good bet depending on how thick your soap is. Pictured is above mentioned fancy cutting tool, but you can just as easily use a good knife, just watch out for fingers.

And there you have your finished product!! I like to wrap my soaps in seran or plastic wrap to help keep the scents fresh, but wax paper would probably work as well.

I hope you all enjoy your soaps lovelies and if you do make any please tag me so i can see! 🌻

The Message.

a tarot spread for imbolc.

1. Darkness. The clutches of winter can be felt all around you. It penetrates down to your depths. Within this place of solitude, what secrets will you find hidden deep under the frozen waters?

2. The Vessel. You must be ready to deliver the message, to reveal the knowledge which was once unknown. You are the lantern, you are the light. In order to prepare yourself, you must be willing to let go of that which no longer serves you. What in your life do you need to let go of? What no longer serves you?

3. The Flame. This is your light, your time, your moment. Take back that which was lost. Take back the power you once had. Where do you need to focus your energy? What do you need to remember in order to be one with the light?

4. The Message. The cold of winter will come to an end soon enough. Set your eyes to the horizon. Feel the warmth of the rising sun. Do not live in fear. Share your knowledge. Do this and you will be blessed. What blessings can you expect to see manifest within your life in the days ahead?

the magick of besoms

besoms are a witch’s ritual broom; they are excellent tools for cleansing, blessing and spellcasting. i personally find besoms to be just as useful and integral in my craft as wands, if not more.

in tradition, besoms were made with sacred woods; a shaft of ash, twigs of birch as bristles, and strands of willow to bind it together. ash brings prosperity and protection, birch for cleansing, and willow for lunar goddess magick. of course, different woods have different properties, and based on what you want your besom to embody, you can use any of these woods:

alder for decision making and courage

ash for health and prosperity

cedar for power and strength

hawthorn for fae magick and rebirth

hazel for creativity and knowledge

maple for longevity and luck

oak for truth and protection

there are many ways to use a besom in witchcraft. a common use is to cleanse a ritual area or space before casting spells, by literally sweeping away any residual energies (though the besoms doesn’t have to touch the floor - leave the dust sweeping to the household broom!). similarly, you can cleanse your home by sweeping the energies up and sending them out the front door. if a guest brings negative energy with them for a visit, simply sweep the area in which they resided after they’ve left.

besoms are also protective. simply placing one by your front door is a powerful protective charm of its own. placing it under your bed is one way to prevent nightmares or harmful energies from influencing your dreams.

lastly, besoms are a symbol of unity, marriage and love; traditionally, pagan weddings involve the couple jumping over a besom as a part of the ceremony. for this reason, hanging a besom in your home can strengthen a relationship, bring marital harmony, or draw a powerful love to those without it.

Witchy Tip (good for closeted witches)

If you have a wax warmer and some wax cubes, you can scratch a sigil / rune / deity name into the cube, putting your intention into it, and then place it face down in the warmer

The markings will be hidden from view, and as the cube melts, the intention and power of the markings will be carried into the air along with the scent.

Have fun with it! Pick a scent that corresponds to your intention / deity

Casting Different Formations

The reason we make a formation of any kind is to center and ground the spell. It protects and holds the energy in place. Most people choose to cast a circle, as there is no beginning and no end, making it strong and effective. It is in and of itself, one.

However, I have found that casting a circle first and then a triangle or square within it is also powerful and protective for different kinds of spells. If you are not at ease using a triangle or square within a circle, stay with the circle only. Remember, never use a square or triangle alone. Always cast them within your circle.

The Types of Formations

The Circle

The circle is the most important formation- this is why all other formations are cast within a circle. It fulfills all the needs in any spell and achieves what is necessary in a beautiful and transcendent way. It shields and is a place to contact the God of your understanding, the gods/goddesses, the universal life force energy, spirit guides, angels, or any of the ascended masters. It can also be adapted solely for a place to balance and receive messages from spirit or your inner self, having no spells involved.

The circle is representative of wholeness, universal life force, power, achievement, balance, and emotions.

Sit directly in the middle of the circle and face the direction suggested in the spell or the direction that is comfortable for you.

The Triangle

The pyramids are triangular; the body, mind, and spirit are a trinity. We see power in threes through symbology from ancient culture to modern day. Three is a number of multiplication and abundance. The ancient Greek mathematician Pythagoras spoke of three as the perfect number… a beginning, middle and end.

The triangle is representative of self-expression of creative and artistic pursuits, spirituality, power and high energy, psychic abilities, astral projection and divination.

Sit at the base of the triangle facing the direction suggested in the spell or the direction that is comfortable for you.

The Square

Buildings have four sides, a table has four legs, and there are four compass points on a map. All fours represent stability. To cast a spell using a square is not as powerful as a circle or triangle. However, when casting for reasons such as work and career, it is the very best. For spells that have to do with home buying or building, the square is  the perfect choice. If you want an idea to be set into solid form, this is the formation that should be chosen.

The square is representative of stability, work and career, all business matters, legal issues, money affairs, and organization.

Sit directly in the middle of the square and face the direction suggested in the spell or the direction that is comfortable for you.

How to Cast a Formation

White Light Protection:

Before casting your formation, apply “white light” protection by visualizing a white light of protection around you. The white light will protect you from negativity entering into your body. It should encompass your entire being for at least the size of the area that you will use to cast your formation.

To bring forth the white light of protection, stand in your spell area, close your eyes, and visualize the white light coming from above you and flowing down and eventually encompassing you. It enters through the top of your head and streams slowly down to your toes and grows outward from there. It should come to the very edges of your formation.

Drawing the Formation:

Next, stand in the direction in which you will be eventually facing to cast the spell. Turn in a clockwise manner, as you will always cast a circle first. Then, also in a clockwise direction, cast your triangle or square. Do not be concerned if the formation is not perfect. To indicate that the formation is cast, an acknowledgement of  the completion process is recited.

As you say the following words, remain standing and raise your arms with palms up as if lifting  the energy up from the Earth. Say:

“This ____ (fill in circle, triangle, or square) cast with all-knowing eyes, bring forth the power, may the energy rise.” If you prefer to shorten this, merely say “May the energy rise.”

At this point you can be seated and begin your spell.

Opening and Closing Your Formation

If for some reason you must leave your formation before the spell is completed, you must create an invisible doorway in which to leave. Whether you used stones or a wand, you should not leave without the proper passage. If you’re using a circle of seashells, for example, stand and take your right hand with your first and second fingers (like a blessing) and pass your hand over the shells at a height that is comfortable for you and large enough for you to fit through. You have made an invisible door. Step over the shells and leave. Do not step on any item that has made up your foundation- always step over it. Once on the other side, immediately close the circle in the same manner. When re-entering, open the circle in the same way and close it again when you are back inside. This should take only seconds, as it is virtually done with the sweep of an arm.

Releasing You Formation

Everything needs closure when something is completed, and that also applies to formations. When your spell is accomplished, you must release the energy of the formation. To do this, stand and hold your arms up with palms down angled above your shoulder (as if ready to dive into the water), and in a gentle pushing motion, lower your arms and visualize the energy going back down into the Earth. Say, “The energy is released,” or other closing words such as “done” or “It is.”
