in spanglish you don’t switch by word, you switch by phrase.
it’s not:
“[first part of the sentence in english], [second part of the sentence in english], mi amor.”
“[full english sentence], querida.”
it’s:
“[first part of the sentence in english], [segunda parte de la frase en español], mi amor.”

also miles is boricua, miguel is mexican. they have two different accents and use different vocabulary for certain words.
also miles is “nyourican” - a puerto rican native to new york - while his mom is directly from the island, so there are differences there, too, because his spanish is more influence by new york english.
here’s some good references that aren’t google translate (which usually pulls from spain, a country that speaks vastly differently from latin america)
here have some random videos on different slang/spanish accents:
-
in spanish most words are gendered, so most feminine words end in a and masculine/gender neutral words end in o. adding ito/ita makes something cuter, smaller and more affectionate.
spanish nicknames that aren’t “mi amor”
also spanish is a language that uses adjectives as terms of affection both cute ones and ones that might sound insensitive in english
and like most languages that are not english, spanish has multiple ways of saying i love you.
see also:
and, of course, they can vary regionally too.
please use this because i have read a lot of really well written things that take me out of it because the use of spanglish is terrible. don’t just go on your presumptions that spanish/spanglish works in the same way that english does.

Danny hadn't heard of his alternative future version since he and Clockwork worked together to de-age him and send him to some distant relatives 40 years ago, after Dan begged them to do it since he wanted a second chance to live again.
So imagine his surprise when he receives a desperate call from Dan, now Bruce Wayne, raving about clowns and something about Lazarus blood pools.
Sometimes being a Ancient wasn't worth it, but it was better then being the Ghost King.
I’m just thinking about how Tim would react right now.
Because when he said “Batman needed robin.” I don’t think he thought it would be, “Batman needed robin to not commit a global genocide.
And if we’re going with Batman tried to kill joker but superman stoped him cannon then there’s another dilemma. Does Clark know? Cause if he did then not only did he stop Bruce to prevent an international scandal he stoped him out of fear.
And if Clark knows, who else knows? The justice league? Or hell maybe JL dark? Cause then that adds so much to this. Cause in the case they know not only are they working with him, they are also monitoring him.
And if the hole ‘someone stole batman’s plans on how to kill the justice league and used it’ thing happen, did they take that as a sign of him snapping? That they had to deal with him before he destroyed the world.
There are probably so many more implications that I’m missing but this is already making my head spin
Holy crap that makes so much sense its scary
I mean.... combine both Danny's and Vlad's obsessions and what do you get?
A guy with a need to protect everyone (good or bad) within where he sees as home with a desire to be a parent and mentor figure, who also has a bit of a temper and flair for the dramatic
.....aka - batman
Oh gosh yes this works. Dan lost his powers and became basically human, but kept his memories.
When he was a baby the memories didn’t make sense to him, but as he grew up he began to work out what was going on, and by the time Thomas and Martha are killed when he’s eight he (a) knows enough to understand that this sort of thing is what set him off last tme and (b) has been brought up with enough love and goodness that he knows it would be a bad thing to do anything like that again. So he absolutely latches on to Alfred as the only remaining constant person in his life, and Alfred suddenly finds himself parenting. But as Bruce grows older he knows (perhaps works out in therapy) that he needs to find something productive to do with his grief and anger, and he remembers being Danny, protecting his town while no-one knew who he was. There’s a lot he can do even without powers, so he learns and trains and designs a costume and eventually becomes Batman.
He knows there’s a strong possibility that he could regain his ghostly form and his powers if he’s ever exposed to sufficient ectoplasm. It’s a bit of a temptation for him when he encounters the League of Assassins and their Lazarus pits. There’s so much good he could do! But there’s always that chance that that would strip him of his humanity again, and he’s spent a couple of decades regrowing it and he won’t risk it.
When the years pass the time when Danny ought to be born, Bruce starts thinking about preventing the portal accident. He has a child of his own now: Dick, a boy with black hair and blue eyes who his Vlad-memories tell him should be kept and protected, whose rage and despair his Dan-memories as well as his own Bruce-memories recognise all too well, and whose joy and playfulness bring back Danny-memories long forgotten.
Does he save Danny, allow him to grow up as a normal kid? But time is already folded upon itself twice: would that break the world? And there’s a part of him that wants Danny to know who he is, maybe even to be proud of him.
Does he save Danny, and to hell with the world, even if Danny never knows who he is? Does he preserve the timeline for the good of the world? because he’s selfish?
In the end the point is moot. At the time the accident happens, Bruce isn’t thinking about Danny; he isn’t thinking at all. He’s raging, tearing himself apart, tearing Gotham apart because his son is dead.
If he had his powers, he could look for Jason in the Ghost Zone.
Losing his humanity and destroying the world again sounds pretty good right now.
Right up until another child with black hair and blue eyes stands before him and says he needs to do better.

There's dressing up, cosplay, and somewhere way, way, WAY beyond that is whatever sort of sorcerous shapeshifting this is...
Most of these are amazing, some are genuinely disturbing... but still amazing..
OMGOSH AMAZING
If you can't shape-shift naturally, learning sorcery is fine.
A good use of sorcery power :D
I…those…am…what? I feel like I've just visited a space station somewhere in the Epsilon Quadrant or something. Wowowowow.
I'm pretty on board with the headcanon that what Link gets out of being the bearer of the Triforce of Courage is the power of being a video game protagonist, but I genuinely can't decide whether it would be funnier if he's 100% aware of how much bullshit his everything is, or if he honestly doesn't realise.
Like, does he know that normal people can't recover from life-threatening wounds in a matter of minutes by drinking a jar of really good soup? It's the sort of thing you'd assume would be obvious just from being around other human beings, and yet.
The fact that Breath of the Wild Link's laser-parrying trick is something that only works for him is made explicit in the dialogue, so presumably he's at least aware that it's exceptional, but does he understand that it's complete bullshit, or does he think it's just a skill issue?
Link: No, that's fair, if I fuck up the timing I have to eat a laser to the chest and that is, understandably, extremely painful, so I don't recommend you practice this unless you're really confident about your timing.
Random Guard:...Link people die if they take those to the chest.
Link: I mean you should be angling yourself, i'm not saying to just let your sternum take a whole blow, to just take it square, that's a terrible idea
Random Guard: It explodes rocks.
Link: You have armor for a reason my guy.
Random Guard: ...
Link: If it helps, drinking some fire resist potions has proven to be moderately effective for me.
Random Guard: The Ones you apply to your skin?
Link: What
Random Guard: What
How dare you leave this Jason Todd discourse in the tags.
This is really sad, but it's at least kind of encouraging that he's still trying
Absolutely. The spirit of learning should be nurtured at any age. Read on, info warrior!
Hey, this is exactly how you expand your vocabulary - stumbling across new words, looking them up, and then remembering that. And they're still having fun reading the book, so they're probably going to remember the words they pick up. This is good!
I see y'all in the notes making fun of this, don't fucking shame people for learning stuff late. It's not like this guy can go back in time and do more reading as a kid/teenager, do you want people to learn new things, or do you expect everyone to just wallow in ignorance if they weren't lucky enough to be taught things as a kid/teenager? And they don't need an easier book either, if they're engaged with this one and understanding it, they're fine.
This is just how learning to read books works when you start out...this guy is just starting later but like. I very much remember doing this as a kid. All the time. Irritated my parents doing it because easy internet access wasn't a thing so I asked them whenever I didn't know a word. Nowadays I still stumble across unfamiliar words on occasion, and my english vocabulary is excellent on account of me being an enormous nerd. This guy will learn quickly and be able to read faster and more easily in no time. I hope he doesn't get discouraged.

magical girl shows really did snap when they assigned personality traits based off the members colors
pink - commander and the leader. probably really nice and sweet
blue - probably very close to pink, is either 100 iq smarty pants but shy or very tough and cool
yellow/orange - very happy and positive. can vary from being newbie of the group to be older and mature, probably known as the beautiful one
purple - mysterious, usually starts off as a rival or joins the group later, but is definitely known to the members as another MG. Probably has a softer side they don’t show
Don’t forget green - more mature and very reliable
Red - Mad
okay but this implies the existence of a lost pink teletubby. a fallen leader too painful to talk about anymore
tubby custard.
No Notes forbidden tubby custard lore post.

things i am learning now that i’m finally actually watching avatar the last air bender part one:
1) not everyone is a bender 2) it does appear to be inherent to some extent, because katara seems to be partially self-taught 3) however, there is a learning element, because you can improve on your skills and the avatar has to learn how to master all four elements where i thought aang just had inherent skill 4) the element of the bender seems to always match the element of the tribe they’re in, which makes sense if they are taught by their tribe but raises some questions if it’s inherent. is bending ability passed genetically? what happens if two benders of different elements have a kid? i can’t google this because i don’t want anymore spoilers than i already have 5) uncle iroh is prince zuko’s uncle?????????? i thought he was like an earth bender who owned a tea shop this entire fucking time how did i go into this series knowing almost everything but THAT
i honestly thought it was an honorary title like he’s a nice old man who helps out all the kids so he just has them call him uncle
OP is a citizen of Ba Sing Se
Typhlosion is one of my favourite Pokémon and I just love drawing/painting him <3 (painted with Ecoline inks, about 5 hours’ work)
i love this thing so much
You get it.
This is exactly what Superman stands for.
Superman was created by two second-generation Jewish immigrants in the 1930s.
He was created to represent Jewish refugees, partially-assimilated immigrants, and orphan refugees. They couldn’t admit it at the time or he would never have been popular.
Whoever Little Light is they understand Superman far more than the majority of people.
Superman is the hardworking Hispanic immigrant who has developed a taste for apple pie.
The Muslim who plays baseball between prayer calls.
Every immigrant who still speaks their own language at home.
This is perfect and I love you for it.
