PEACE AND LOVE!!!!!!!!

The vegan to ecofascist pipeline

Actually I'm going to expand on the steps of the pipeline.

It starts with:

"I want to do something to better the environment". A noble pursuit.

Then, "Large scale animal agriculture is bad for the environment". Accurate statement.

Then, "Therefore, I am going to stop consuming all animal products and biproducts." A lofty goal, but still reasonable. It's not something that's for everyone, but if that's what you want to do to do your part, more power to you.

Then, "If I can do it, so can you." Inaccurate. The human body is suited ideally for an omnivorous lifestyle. While the human body is very adaptable, its adaptability varies from person to person, and not everyone is able to subsist off of a vegan lifestyle.

Then, "People who don't follow my lifestyle are maliciously contributing to climate change." We're going into dangerous 'us vs. them' territory now. Now everyone who consumes animal products and biproducts even utilyzes large-scale animal agriculture, and there are myriad of reasons for someone to not be vegan. Personal lifestyle choices are also a distraction from the larger issue at hand, which is that corporations contribute the most to climate change, and blaming yourself and other individuals is a distraction.

Then, "Human beings are responsible for climate change. Humans are inherently destructive." False. Corporations and industrialization is responsible for climate change. Humans are inherently neutral, and for the most part are actually good.

Then, "If there were less people on this Earth, we would have less climate change and pollution." And there we are. At the ecofascism finish line.

Not every vegan ends up at the ecofascist finish line. Many vegans stay comfortably on the third rung of the ladder, focusing on their own personal boundaries and lifestyle choices. However, as soon as you dip your toes into the "if I can do it, so can you" mentality, that's when the ball begins rolling down the slippery slope of ecofascism.

As soon as you begin forcing your lifestyle onto other people, that's when it becomes dangerous.

I have received a piece of information about the occult roots of a particular scientific project which is so fucked up I'm scared I'm going to go slowly crazy.

How do you not go crazy when you find this shit out??? I honestly figured you would know best.

It's the Pasadena Jet Propulsion Lab isn't it

Avatar

go look it up but this is my favorite part

he then got scammed by the first scientologists

The Jet Propulsion Lab was fucking wild. Huge chunks of 20th century history came from the McCarthyites breaking it up.

Ok, ok so here goes... Jack Parsons:

  • Parsons was part of the Jet Propulsion Lab in the US
  • He was also personally anointed by Aleister Crowley, bizarro occultist and creator of Thelema who created the religion after going to Egypt and meeting the spirit Aiwass.
  • With his rocket money, Parsons bought a mansion in Pasadena, where he collected a bunch of poets, Sci-Fi writers and Project Manhattan (Yes, that one) scientists and had a bunch of fun times.
  • He was in an open relationship with his wife, Sara, and several others. Fun times at Pasadena ;)
  • He also met L Ron Hubbard, Scientology founder, who lived in has mansion for a while before stealing Parson’s wife and creating Scientology with her.
  • Parsons was pissed by this, and decided to make his own tulpa “elemental” to be his girlfriend. This was done via an Enochian inspired ritual of masturbating onto a tablet, multiple times while listening to Sergei Prokofiev's Second Violin Concerto. A bit like a classy soggy biscuit, but then the biscuit becomes your girlfriend.
  • For some reason this didn’t work, but Parsons found another partner through the process, Marjorie Cameron, who he lived with from then on.
  • He then got fired from the JPL because the FBI thought he was a communist.

There’s also:

Qian Xuesen:

  • A Chinese mathematician, Qian was involved in small projects such as, The Manhattan Project, US Air Defence Strategy and America’s first missile program.
  • Pretty much the exact opposite of Parsons, Qian was a family man and didn’t really care for much apart from his family and work.
  • Then the 1950s happened, and the FBI decided that Qian was a communist.
  • In a supreme twist of irony, Qian decided that he was no longer welcome in the US and decided to MOVE BACK TO CHINA
  • The US government then realised they had fucked up and decided to keep him in legal limbo, but they weren’t able to hold him for a few years before he returned, and decided to help the Chinese government.
  • He got bored during detention and got interested in the field of cybernetics - writing an entire book during the time.
  • He joined The Science Planning Commission of the State Council and for the next decades he was responsible in part, or directly, for: China’s nuclear deterrent, Golden Shield - China’s police surveillance system and The One Child Policy.

Frank Malina:

  • Actually founded the JPL.
  • He was also part of the Communist Party of America, and had raised money for the Spanish Civil War and campaigning against racial segregation in Pasadena.
  • As an actual, Real Communist™, the FBI were on his case immediately after World War 2 so he decided to move to Paris and join UNESCO.
  • He then watched as his own rocket became the first human object to reach extra-terrestrial space - and his own name effectively erased from history as Goddard got all the fame.
  • He once complained that : “If those who publicise such matters had not been asleep in our country... a reasonable claim could have been made … that the Bumper WAC project opened up the Space Age well before the Sputnik”
  • Russia then went on to lead the US in rocketry until the Gemini and Apollo programs allowed the US to catch up.

So yeah - The feds breaking up the JPL membership effectively caused Jack Parsons to create a soggy biscuit tulpa, China’s one child policy and Russia’s lead in space exploration during the 1950s.

u don't like kitty and puppy? 🐈 meow? 🐕 bark?

Beyond parody that conservatives see a study saying "perhaps we should provide animal companionship to college kids?" and immediately respond with "NOOO PUNISH THEM! HURT THEM! SLAP THEM!"

Their whole ideology is built on normalized cruelty to the point that having cats give college kids some semblance of companionship and affection seems like a radical act that they cannot abide. Like, jesus christ. If you saw a kid asking their parents for a pet and the parents said they should get a slap instead so they don't turn into a "beta", you would not think that's okay or normal. You'd probably recognize pretty quickly that that is abuse and you'd probably call CPS on those parents if you could.

The "I want to hurt people, especially vulnerable people" side of the political spectrum

Republicans claim to be tough on crime. But Republicans also balked at a study that showed that giving prisoners cats greatly reduced recidivism.

Republicans whined that prisoners were being rewarded, while ignoring that many of these men were given companionship and responsibility. According to one man in the study (and I'm paraphrasing), "I can't do anything bad to increase my sentence. I need to keep my nose clean so I can provide my cat with a good home. If I get arrested, they'll take him away and he not end up with a family who loves him." Prisoners were avoiding crimes for their cats, but Republicans considered cats a reward instead.

They want people to suffer.

The cruelty is the point.

The cruelty is the point.

It's always the point for them.

I've seen a few posts of people from varying us states saying "why is no one talking about x new anti LGBT bill/law in my state?" and I need you guys to know that unfortunately part of the reason you're not hearing much about your specific state is that it's not just your state. there are currently 321 anti LGBT+ bills in the us

you'll notice that several of these states have more than 10. Missouri and Oklahoma have 31 and 34 respectively. and some of these have already passed or are well on their way. living here has become exponentially more terrifying. and even people in states with 0 bills should be worried because they are absolutely not going to stop at state level legislation, the next step is federal law. it's really time for everyone in the us to be vigilant right now. connect with people in your community and start or get involved in movements for change, starting on a very small local level. I know it gets really discouraging looking at maps like this. you're probably not going to be able to help everyone in every state, but you might be able to make a big difference with your local community

Even I can't keep up, and damn I'm trying.

Note: Unfortunately, this map doesn't cover everything.

Here is a list of bills (there are likely others.)

best thing about tumblr is seeing pictures of Weird Creatures I’d never heard of before

You wanna know what makes this better?

Crows normally walk. This one seems to have both legs working, so he’s not hopping out of necessity, he’s doing it for fun. Corvids can sometimes be seen doing things like this for no evident reason other than enjoyment.

Sean: "The crumbs of love you offer me are the crumbs I left behind." It's just this… It's this, fuck you. Like, you're trying to give me something. You found me down here. You don't know who I am. I'm you. I'm the future if you keep pursuing this. And fuck you for everything that you've found so far because I already found it.
Andrew: Yep.
S: You're a shadow. You're a shadow of what I am. It's your turn. And that's the transference. "It's your flesh I wear." It's the transference at the end that this, whatever you're finding at the end, this, you know, deformed entity that you found on your pursuit. They're not there to help you. They're not there to, you know, assist you, not be by your side or guide you. They're there to become you at the end. And whatever body they're wearing at that time is not their body. They don't have a body. They're formless. And that's the creepiest part at the end when, you know, it's your turn. "It's your flesh that I wear." You're submitting yourself to this idea so far beyond actual humanity that you just become something entirely else. You become something twisted and deformed and yourself become buried under, again, your chosen avalanche and that. […] Andrew, what do you think?
A: Yeah, I, as someone who tends to prefer the ambiguity and, you know, non-referential nature of sort of that reading, I think it is important to kind of look at it in a religious context, because I think there is some evidence of that in the text. [...] You know, "I sleep beneath the golden hill". This is something that I kind of caught, and I've seen people discussing it and picking up on this online. That seems to be a possible reference to the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. You know, it's a holy place, the golden roof. To me, the most important thing about that line is that it possibly places the speaker as the sort of the voice of God, the embodiment of God or a God. You know, "you who wish to conquer pain, you must learn to serve me well". That feels like not the most malicious thing in this song, but it does feel like sort of an order from or a declarative statement from God.
S: Well, a lot of Christianity is the pursuit of conquering pain, right? Afterlife, you know, the great deal of pain that Christ went through to solve the pain of the world or to absolve the pain of the world.
A: Yeah, and knowing, you know, obviously less [Leonard] Cohen than Cave, but knowing Cave and Cohen's sort of tendencies, you know, they do have a penchant for reference and definitely religious iconography and reference.

you what

and i'm just supposed to live like this now?

you come to me like this, and it's—

They're not there to help you. They're not there to, you know, assist you, not be by your side or guide you. They're there to become you at the end. And whatever body they're wearing at that time is not their body. They don't have a body. They're formless.

Every single time I watch it. Every single time I smile. They’re perfect. THEY. ARE. PERFECT.

heard someone say "who even owns a rolling pin anymore" and my brain froze trying to process it. what does that mean. are u implying rolling pins are outdated technology? did we come up with a shiny new 21st century method of flattening dough of which i remain uninformed? is there now an app on the app store people are using instead??? im losing my mind "who even owns a rolling pin" people who BAKE

It means that most people don't bake anymore

Like most people can't knit or sew or weave or crochet or change their own oil or replace their own brakes or jump a car or butcher their own meat or churn their own butter or grow their own plants or poach their own eggs or fry their own chicken or bake their own bread or make anything from scratch

We like to believe this "end of history" mythology that we're all smarter and better than the generations that came before us but every generation gains and loses some of the skills of their predecessors

It looks like baking may be one of those skills/arts

Maybe most people.

There are 3 rolling pins in this house. One plain wood, one all-in-one-piece, one marble.

Also, we know how to (and sometimes actually do) bake, knit, sew, make & mend clothes, change our own oil (it’s a PITA on my car), jump cars, butcher meat, replace brakes, churn butter, poach eggs, bake bread etc etc etc.

Also there were all these articles not that long ago about how “grandma crafts” like baking or knitting are cool again.

Like… the rush to knit, bake sourdough, generally create stuff with our hands that happened during lockdown wasn’t a fluke. People are genuinely happier when they make things from scratch.

I dunno. Live your boring not-making-stuff life if you want. I’m gonna go work on recipes for an event I’m cooking and then keep knitting this pair of mitts I’m making for myself. Meanwhile, my housemate is gonna keep futzing with his new 3d printer and another housemate is planting some trees to replace fallen ones in the yard. None of those skills are lost.

That's what the word most means

I, too, own a rolling pin.

I, too, know how to (and sometimes actually do) bake, knit, sew, make & mend clothes, change our own oil (it’s a PITA on my car), jump cars, butcher meat, churn butter, poach eggs, bake bread etc etc etc.

While “grandma crafts” might be "cool again", it's not "coolness" which explains why these skills have been lost. These skills are not being transmitted between generations because the older generations are not teaching the younger generations. We can get into why but that's a whole can of worms

The rush to knit, bake sourdough, generally create stuff with our hands that happened during lockdown wasn’t a fluke but the question of why this knowledge was lost and had to be rediscovered is worthy of inquiry and dedicated thought beyond lazy kids and "coolness" and individualism. People are genuinely happier when they make things from scratch but the question of why this knowledge was lost and had to be rediscovered is worthy of inquiry and dedicated thought beyond lazy kids and "coolness" and individualism.

It's really myopic and grating to characterize breakdowns in the transmission of generational knowledge as people "wanting" to live a "boring not-making-stuff life" as opposed to people not being able to live a "boring not-making-stuff life" and while you may have these skills, you are not everybody nor are you most people but rather you are you who is a fucking individual. I'm glad for you that you have a community that is able to transmit knowledge. That being said, I'm begging you and op and the people like you to ask why these skills are being lost for the majority of people as opposed to looking around you and arrogantly crowing that "none of those skills are lost"

for the mario movie???? the mario bros movie?? the actors can't know the plot of the mario movie??? they're scared of plot leaks for mario the movie?? the movie mario???? we're getting not just chris pratt but chris pratt acting BLIND????????

we've all joked to death about how this type of micromanaging essentially kills the art of acting, but I want to make it extra clear that doing this to voice actors and making them riff on their performance in a void is just one tiny step away from AI generating the cherrypicked delivery that a studio desires, which is something they are already doing with james earl jones's darth vader

Fuck this shit, fuck it all. I can’t believe the shit I’m seeing these days and as a film nerd it pisses me off. The disappearance of the mid-budget movie, replacing actual costumes and sets with green screen and non-union CG teams, keeping scripts secret from actors for some stupid reason, and I think the next step is absolutely AI bullshit. I hate it all. This isn’t movies, this is products and commercials and consumable goods. I want an epic fucking tale told to me by a campfire goddammit, not whatever the fuck this is turning into.
