so like, I think for Toga’s storyline to resolve, the words ‘quirk counseling’ should probably be uttered by someone at some point. because, y’know, that’s the thing that failed and alienated her? Big factor that lead to her path towards being a Villain?

It’s all good and well that Uraraka wants to help, but… then what? What happens after Toga regains hope?

That is, Uraraka can instill hope and love back in Toga, and I’m counting on it!

It’s just: What happens after that. What’s the treatment plan for Toga? What’s the plan to accommodate Toga’s needs? Are we back to asking her to ‘endure it with all your effort, pretty please; just suppress all your compulsions and Don’t Do That’, which ultimately didn’t work? Getting her hope and support is important, don’t get me wrong, but it does not tackle the core issue?

What happens to the other Toga-like children with dangerous, society-incompatible quirks that seem to have biological compulsion components, which will inevitably appear in the future? How are you doing to deal with them? How are you going to treat them? What exactly can Uraraka even do about Quirk Counseling beyond ‘yeah, sure, I’ll mention it to MY TEACHERS THE ADULTS WITH ANY REAL SYSTEMIC POWER TO CHANGE CURRICULUM but really I’m just a Hero trainee with little administrative power’…?

for the longest time i was actually of the opinion that maybe Toga could’ve tried harder to resist her blood-drinking urges. I sympathized with her issues all the way since MVA, but I did think maybe she didn’t try enough to fit in.

But when in Chapter 341 we see little elementary-school age (note the little randoseru backpack hanging from her desk) Toga chewing on her wrist hard enough to draw blood in her sleep—

It’s no longer about effort. it’s medical. It’s medical and should be about getting children like Toga individualized therapeutic attention and accommodations and educating parents not to shame or discipline and instead to seek help and ending stigma and all those boring and non-flashy-heroics but vital public health stuff.

Hero Society understands quirks and the effects on children enough to have Quirk Counseling already, but I think Toga’s case is about how they don’t do enough yet.

So far, I think the Heroes is where I was at: they’re trying to sympathize a little with Toga,

but they don’t realize the scope of the problem yet? So less “I would never want to hurt someone I love (that’s weird, what’s wrong with you, do better)” and more “why do you think you need to hurt someone you love and what can we do to change or manage that impulse?”

Tumblr Migration 2: Reddit Boogaloo

We all know about the Twitter immigrants, but there seems to be radio silence on what's happening now with Reddit users from certain subreddits doing a similar thing.

What's happening?

Reddit is restricting their API later this month and killing off third-party apps. An AMA (Ask Me Anything) with the CEO Steve Hoffman was held and it was clear that he would continue with the changes.

In protest, thousands of subreddits across the site are planning to go dark for 48 hours on June 12th. Some are planning to continue indefinitely until the changes are reversed.

Okay, so how does this affect Tumblr?

Some subreddits (mainly queer and left-leaning meme ones, don't worry too much about Reddit Atheists™ overrunning us) are encouraging their users to jump ship to our beloved - and beloathed - hellsite. There will be another influx of new users and many will be unfamiliar with how the site works.

What do us Tumblr users do?

Show them how to use the site; introduce them to the site's culture, tell them to reblog shit and curate their dashboard. Sorta like how we welcomed Twitter users back when they flocked here. Kungpowpenising optional.

I'm new from Reddit, what do I do here?

CHANGE YOUR PROFILE PICTURE AND BANNER TO SOMETHING OTHER THAN DEFAULT BECAUSE THIS SITE IS FILLED WITH BOTS AND YOU MIGHT BE MISTAKEN FOR ONE. This is the FIRST thing you should do after getting a blog.

Other folks can help you with stuff like curating your dashboard or creating sideblogs (or you can look shit up) but please, PLEASE just give yourself an icon and reblog some stuff so people don't mistake you for a bot

Since Reddit and Tumblr have some different features and functions, cultures from the sites shaped by those elements will vary and it can be confusing, for sure.

But yes, PLEASE, change your avatar/icon/pfp/whatever you prefer to call it away from the default. Also don't use a photo of a sexy feminine looking person, because this is a staple of the bots sadly. :/ if you aren't ready to reblog because you're still getting stuff set up, you can also edit your bio and/or make a post and pin it explaining that you're new and getting a feel before you start reblogging a bunch of stuff.

(Or if you want an original-post or blank main* blog--with all reblogs and such going to specific sideblogs* you can also explain that! The reason that's important to note is because when you follow people it's linked to your main so they won't know you're the same person who's reblogging a bunch of stuff to a different sideblog)

*you can think of "main blog" as your "primary account" and sideblogs as your "sub-account", basically.
