if i was in charge of voyager i would've had janeway keep the lizard babies in a terrarium in her ready room for the rest of the series and only acknowledge them once when some bad guy of the week makes a snide remark about her "cute pets" and she deadpan replies "those are my children" leaving the bad guy to wonder about the strange biology of humans

Tumblr is really convincing me that I'd enjoy watching star trek. It's ridiculously long running though and I have no idea where to start.

Please explain why in the comments/tags if possible.

depends on what ur into tbh ! i usually start my friends off w some of the more fun / interesting episodes from tos like amok time (shows the kirk and spock dynamic well), mirror mirror (fun, sets up the mirrorverse which is in a lot of other series), and the city on the edge of forever (one of the best tos episodes imo). then i’ll either show them some new movies if they prefer action movies or i’ll get them started on deep space nine since i truly believe it’s the one of if not the best series, star trek or not.

i personally watched all movies → realised star trek is also a tv show → watched tos → watched tng → watched ds9 and realised star trek was my favourite show → watched enterprise and started the rest of trek.

ds9 has the best character development and ensemble cast. i think you do need to know some basics of star trek like who the romulans are , what the federation is etc. which you can easily get from watching tos (3 seasons) first. it also helps if you understand who the borg are and how they fucked up starfleet, which if you watch tng s1-4 that’ll show it well. it’s not necessary but you’ll understand the politics b/w starfleet more :)

personally i’d say start w tos → tng s1-4 → ds9 → go from there :)

i truly think any order works tho , the main thing is if you feel bored by a trek show don’t feel bad dropping it for awhile and starting a new trek show. like truly cannot emphasise this enough !!

dudes will be like yeah that's a fantastic episode of the show one of my favorites in fact. i can't watch it straight all the way through because the mental distress it causes me is too acute
