one of the ways i know this culture has a massive issue with consent
is the sheer amount of people I’ve known that just lie & tell people they’re deathly allergic to foods they dislike

Because forcing someone into a situation where they don’t feel safe declining putting something into their body they’d rather not be there is totes 100% wholesome American fun
And this is something so known that it’s infinitely easier to just lie and tell people that you’ll die if you eat that food…which actually doesn’t always stop it from happening
i hate how i can relate to this. i vividly remember telling my friends i was allergic to something when i was younger just to avoid them making me eat it. it sucks how it has to be that way.

Hey! I've been wanting to start an ask blog for a while and this has been really helpful! But, being the tumblr noob that I am, I'm a little confused as to why most of the ask blogs I've seen have the red speech bubble with a 1 in it, but a few others have a 2? I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question - I'm just a bit confused. ^~^

To answer your question: Why do ask blogs have an avatar that has a “red speech bubble with the number “1” or “2” in it?”
Well, if you look at our avatar, the origins of the “red message bubble” came directly from Tumblr! This Tumblr symbol represents the notification of a “new message” in your blog’s askbox!
Most askblogs adapt this icon as part of their avatar because their character/muse receives messages directly to them!
For the “number 2” message notification, it’s usually used by 2P!Hetalia ask bloggers. Most Hetalia fans know that the creator of Hetalia created an “alternate universe”, or “AU”, of all the Hetalia characters having alternate selves; “2P” means “2nd Player”.
Here’s an example of a 2P!Hetalia askblog, ask-2p-england! Notice that their avatar has the ”number 2” message notification. However, not all 2P!Hetalia askblogs have this symbol.
Here’s another example, ask-2p-usa! This askblog specifically treats the 2P!Hetalia character as a separate being from the original character; it’s their choice on how they handle their character/muse, but non-Hetalia people should understand that 2P!America is NOT Alfred Jones!

In general, it’s simply a choice of designing your askblog’s avatar! :) Moreso, you don’t even have to have this symbol next to your avatar, it’s just a universal symbol indicating that you are an askblog!
