Research on transsexuals also shows how the elicitation of deference depends on the type of man one is perceived to be. Based on in-depth interviews with 29 transmen, Schilt (2006) found that whereas white transmen beginning to work as men were taken more seriously, had their requests readily met, and were evaluated as more competent than they were as women, young, small Black, Latino, and Asian transmen did not gain similar advantages. Transmen of color, on the other hand, reported being more frequently treated as criminals, and short and effeminate transmen reported being publicly harassed as gay. Gaining the full privileges of manhood is thus shown to depend not merely on being recognized as male, but on the whole ensemble of signs that are conventionally taken as evidence of a masculine self.

Common misconceptions:
- "Intersex" does not mean "non-binary." Non-binary is a gender. "Intersex" means "my sexual characteristics are not as easily slotted into male and female as you'd think."
- Some intersex people are non-binary. Some use "intersex" as their gender label. Some are cis. Some are binary trans. Intersex people can have any gender you can think of frankly they're people just like you.
- Intersex people are not "assigned non-binary at birth." They're assigned a binary sex like everyone else. Hence why there can be cis or trans intersex people.
- While I'm certain the human experience is vast enough that there must be someone out there with a working dick and pussy at once, the large majority of intersex people do not have that sort of body.
Shoutout to disabled LGBT folks. Shoutout to those of us who don't feel safe going to pride because NOBODY will be masking. if you are perhaps an ex christian and all of your information about other religions comes from christians or other ex christians i think perhaps it might be worthwhile to revisit your assumptions and fact check your education. especially if you are prone to making broad statements about All Organized Religions
also if all of your knowledge of other religions comes from united states public schools. knowledge that what you were taught was propaganda ≠ the truth. once you know your education was biased you have to seek true information in order to course-correct.

These never went away. Many many people still use genderqueer as the primary label for their gender. Genderqueer flags are still a common sight to see in pride-themed lineups, even mass-produced ones detached from your local, much more inclusive pride events.
Online anti-"queer" discourse just likes to push the terms to the side and treat them as fringe or synonymize "vague" with "not good enough."
Tumblr automatically hides community labels and does not tell new users about it. The moderation unfairly targets people of colour and trans people. You could be missing so much and never know, and if youre concerned about some content, then choose blur
