Weird idea for Witcher shrinkiness:
The basic premise is that someone can shrink at will, say from 2-6 inches small, and part of that ability is a bit of magic that helps them go unnoticed. Just a small shifting away of someone’s attention.
Now if this were Jaskier he’d absolutely use this ability to get away from his disastrous one-night stands or other troubles, whereas with Witchers it could be used as a stealth creep and then surprise grow-and-kill (or a way to hide after a painful contract).
The unnoticing would be fun with Jaskier because of general shenanigans, since it’s such a subtle bit of natural chaos that it works against Witchers’ senses.
But it could also be fun with Witchers because Geralt has never had to worry about having a human around when he goes small. And an oblivious Jaskier in a keep full of Witchers so used to going tiny whenever they want would be hilarious.
Anyone have any thoughts?
chewbaccaaah:
What if geralt can go down to 3 while jaskier can only do 5 and then the witcher has to drag the (weirdly larger than himself) bard away from whoever is chasing them " I TOLD you to stay away from her!!" Even at nearly half his height, the witcher is still much stronger than him.
(Okay, honestly I thought my inbox deleted this for ages before I remembered replies were a thing. I’m such an old millenial who’s crap at technology. lol)
Geralt managing to shrink more than Jaskier would be hilarious, because at that difference he’d just reach waist height on the bard. I can see him hauling him right over his shoulder and running with Jaskier shrieking about his head being too close to the ground.
On the plus side, even if Geralt is stronger it would stop Jaskier from picking him up whenever possible just long enough to hug his ‘cute wee witcher!’ before Geralt managed to struggle free.
A bigger Jaskier would make a nice centerpiece for the winter witcher pile at Kaer Morhen, too. And he’s so warm! (Tiny witchers absolutely prep and spend the worst of the winter tiny the majority of the time. They’d use less fuel for fires and less food so they wouldn’t risk going hungry.)
Oh god, now I’m thinking of Geralt spending a lot of downtime small because it stretches the food further. It’s never perfect but it works well enough when times are lean. Whereas Jaskier would only shrink so that his favorite foods were massive and he could stuff himself on one honeyed cake.
