A blog full of jokes about alternate universes for the comic Check, Please!

What we need to do is convince all the disney adults in america that high speed rail would be a preferable way of getting to disneyworld compared to driving or flying. We could maybe harness their fondness for the monorail or something, but this is a group of people that has time, income, and passion that we could leverage. If we could direct 5% of the enthusiasm they have for limited edition popcorn buckets into calling their representatives and demanding high-speed interstate rail, we could get it by 2030

yesterday I wore sandals and a short dress and had to tie my hair up to stop from overheating. today I wore my (lighter) winter coat and could’ve been lifted up like Mary Poppins if I’d dared to use my umbrella at the wrong angle. it is rude and uncalled for that the weather is like this

Friends, allies, I come to you now with a request. I’m mentoring a young woman applying for scholarships to afford college and there used to be a ton of resource posts floating around tumblr that I can’t seem to locate anymore (or are out of date since I saved them).

Does anyone have current links to posts that compile scholarship opportunities, text book resources, etc? Or links to websites with

This is bothering me so here goes:

I'm on mobile so I can't do the ipa symbols but the (standard Hochdeutsch) German way has a voiceless z that sounds like "ts", and the -er sounds more like a quick, untoned "ah". The anglicized (American) way I would imagine has a sharp voiced z and a clear r-sound, and the "-mann" would sound like the word man.

I have no idea if Ngozi has already adressed this, so I also wonder how Jack himself would pronounce it? To my knowledge he doesn't speak German, and since he and Bob speak French at home, would they pronounce their name in a French (or, if there's a difference in this matter, Québecois) way? What would that sound like? 🤔🤔🤔

(in my head, i've been pronouncing jack in the american way, laurent in the french way and zimmermann in the german way. help me)
