Shipping Geraskier doesn´t make you sexist or racist

One day while I was on tumblr on Yennefer tag because I love her I read some post about people that said in a few words that those who ship Geralt x Jaskier where racist and sexist because they prefer a relationship between two white males than one between a white male and one woman of color and I am gonna be honest at the beggining I felt bad thinking that I was a horrible person but after thinking for a while I came to the conclussion that it was not true.

1- A ship doesn´t tell how a person is. You can´t see what one person likes and instantly know how good or bad that person is. It is common that those who likes the most “unproblematic” ships are actually rude persons while those who like “problematic” ships are nice people.

2- Geralt is the protagonist, in the books and videogames he is the most important, it was Netflix decision to make the story about three main characters (Which was an excellent idea). It is common that the main character it is the one with the most numbers of ships and contents.

3- People don´t ship Geraskier because they took two random white male characters. In the tv show, the books and the videogames they are good friends and it exist a lot of reasons why people could like them as a ship.

4- Let´s talk about yennefer, if we are honest it happens sadly that the female characters that are a love interest are treated like an enemy but in general Yennefer is written right, she is a friend of Geralt and she is wrote like someone great, fierce, brave and powerful because she is all of those things in canon and it makes me so happy that in fanon she is portrayed as the fantastic woman she is.

5- Her value doesn´t depend on her relationship status, some of the arguments I have seen it is that she is left without Geralt and she is single like it is a bad thing. NOBODY HAS LESS VALUE BECAUSE THEY ARE SINGLE. Yennefer doesn´t need a man or a relation to be a good character.

6- She does has ships, if you want her to be single or in a relationship it is your decision but while I was reading Geraskier fics and content in general I saw how Yennefer was shipped with three characters monstly: Triss, Tissaia and Renfri and I swear that they wrote about them so beautiful. Yennefer is happy and I specially adored Renfri/Yen ship because they change the fate of a character that suffered and died and instead write about how Renfri survived and now she is healing while being in a loving relationship with Yennefer who it is also a character that went through a lot, saphics women healing together it is awesome.

7- The same thing happens with the arguments of being racist, Yennefer is portrayed by a women of color, she is wonderful it doesn´t matter if she is in a relationship or don´t. (Headcannon exist too so maybe in your head Geralt and Jaskier are poc, I do that a lot, my favorite characters I made them poc because my head is my universe and I decide what happens there ). Or maybe you want them to be white because you want to have white characters that are not a piece of shit.

8- If we follow the same logic that if you prefer Geraskier than Grlt and Ynnfr you are mysogynist and racist then if you like more Ge and Yenn you are homophobic because they are a straight couple. It doesn´t make sense because your ships doesn´t make you a bad person, how you act toward people irl it show your values.

If you ship Geralt and Yenn, it is good. If you ship Geraskier, it is also good. Ship what you want, just remember to respect other people specially those who doesn´t ship tha same as you.
