GONCHAROV (1973) dir. Martin Scorsese

It funny because for many years people thought Goncharov was the main antagonist of the film, after all, he’s the one everyone’s out to get, right? But it seems people are starting to understand that in actual fact, it is time that is the main adversary in this story. There’s never enough of it and that torments a lot of characters, especially Goncharov, because he’s fighting so desperately to find his place in a world that is so keen on keeping him ostracized.”

“We also unfortunately – we couldn’t do the flashback we wanted to do there which was Eliot going – when he goes ‘what, you have to fight an alien?’ We wanted to do the flashback of Eliot just like, covered in green goo with like, a Ka-Bar, just kinda panting. Just covered in green goo and just like a tail whipping around just as he kind of finishes the job. And we were just like ‘nah, we can’t. We can’t.’” - John Rogers, The First Contact Job DVD Commentary

Ah yes, and throw back to my most popular tumblr post, the commentary for the Last Dam Job where they wanted to use the Stargate (from the movie) and have Eliot standing there about to go through it and saying “Okay but this is the LAST TIME!”

But they couldn’t do it cause the Stargate had been dismantled and thrown away, although Dean Devlin rescued pieces of it from the dumpster post production.

Instead of this lost shot, they used it as art on the walls in the room with all of Latimer’s possessions. Seen with Saul Rubinek (who appeared in the Stargate tv show) in front of them all.

Did I come back to tumblr for the sole purpose of adding stupid blue check marks to my blog?

Yes.

Yes, I did.
