Went to see The Whale last night to celebrate my landlord finally fixing my boiler. My god it is a hard watch. Like it is brutal. Anyone but Brendan in that role and I would’ve walked out. He 100000% deserves to win the Oscar for his performance because he delivered. I was crying on and off from the start but when it got to the last 20 mins my face was drenched. We had to stay in our seats after the credits to compose ourselves and wait for the redness to go down on my face. 

I have complex thoughts on the movie and I’m not even sure if I enjoyed it honestly. But Brendan’s performance was phenomenal and deserves all the praise and that Oscar. He is truly incredible in it. He is the reason to see the movie. Wish Sadie had more to do though. I think she must’ve had scenes cut or something because her story never wraps up or moves along in any real way. She kinda felt like an afterthought to me

Doom Patrol ending with S4

Not home yet but I saw the news and I’m devastated. I love the show with my whole heart. It convinced me to go to therapy, it resparked my creativity and best of all it gave me Brendan Fraser as a sweary robot. I’m really going to miss my idiot children kicking ass (sometimes literally). I’m going to miss the representation for the queer community. I’m going to miss seeing character growth and development from really flawed individuals that so many shows lack. I don’t think anyone involved in the show will truly understand just how important the show is to so many of us. 

One day I feel it will become a cult classic like Firefly did and people will look back and say “wow how did we miss this?” because it truly is unlike anything else in the superhero genre. As Mark Sheppard put it “it’s not a show about superheroes. It’s about mental health”

Hey Doomies if you didn’t already know S4 is out and there are 5 episodes to catch up on!

The amount of people that didn’t know this makes me sad. HBO really didn’t give S4 any promo. Like if people who already love the show didn’t know then how are new viewers supposed to discover it?

The new episode is gonna be divisive huh?

I enjoyed it and love the characters involved. But would I include it in a Doom Patrol rewatch? Probably not. I think it would’ve benefited from being a B plot of an episode or two so it didn’t break up the flow of the season. 

But my baby Dorothy is growing up and I’m so proud and I won’t hear Dorothy slander!
