I have a request for everyone who thinks that Hillary Clinton is just as bad as or even worse than Donald Trump. Please read through her presidential proposals as outlined on her website. All of them, from disability rights to LGBT equality to Wall Street. There’s a lot of them, so take as much time as you need. Then read through Donald Trump’s proposals.
Do you honestly think they’re equal there?
Or maybe you don’t want Hillary Clinton in office because you think she’s a war criminal. Donald Trump is also a criminal.
Maybe you don’t want Hillary because you think she’s in bed with Wall Street. Trump is Wall Street.
Maybe you despise Hillary for white feminism. Well, setting aside Ivana Trump’s claim in a divorce deposition that her then-husband violently raped her, when has Donald Trump ever been a champion for any women, ever?
Maybe you think Hillary’s an imperalist neoliberalist, or that she’s a conservative masquerading as a leftist. Well, she’s actually a hardcore liberal, but even if she weren’t, Donald Trump is a fascist.
You’re probably not planning on voting for Trump. You’re probably not planning on voting for anyone, or you’ll write a name on the ballot. But much as I hate it, in our current political system, that’s throwing your vote away. And in this election, throwing votes away means clearing Trump’s path to victory.
Earlier in the month, an opinion piece from The Washington Post posited that we are morally obligated to vote for the lesser evil:
If our vote is part of a set of votes that will contribute to the defeat of the realistically electable “lesser evil,” therefore electing the “more evil” candidate, then we force society to pay a high price for our clean conscience.
Even if you don’t agree with that logic, the fact remains that come November, either Hillary or Trump will win the election. And if we set aside justifiable anger about our broken political system, or dismay that the revolution we were hoping for didn’t take off, if we only look at both candidate’s plans for the country, do you truly feel they’re equally bad?
I’m chronically ill and need healthcare to afford my medications. I’m disabled, and people with my disability are often denied organ transplants. I and many of my loved ones are queer. Several of my family and some of my friends are immigrants. One is a refugee. I cannot in good conscience, for the sake of my health and my country, make a choice that could help Trump win.
Please don’t let what we could have had keep you from caring about what we will have.

Black trans femme writer Venus Selenite calling attention to the murder of Goddess Diamond, a black trans woman in New Orleans, on June 5. I hadn’t heard anything about this until just now. I know we’re all going through a lot after the Pulse shooting, but please don’t forget that black trans feminine people are living through this every single day.
Goddess Diamond’s family has set up a burial assistance fundraiser: https://www.gofundme.com/28b4atw
