finding the words...

@shapingthewater

Is it crazy to start a blog for a movie that doesn't come out for five more months? Yes. Am I doing it anyway? Yes. May GdT's beautiful fish man save 2017. (Also, this is a side blog so all liking/following will be done from my main. Message me if you want the URL.)
var sc_project=11402861; var sc_invisible=1; var sc_security="37a41894"; var scJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://secure." : "http://www."); document.write("<sc"+"ript type='text/javascript' src='" + scJsHost+ "statcounter.com/counter/counter.js'></"+"script>");

does liking the sessi fishman count as teratophilia?? or is it like ,, in the furry category? you're the local sow expert lol

Hmm…from what I’ve seen, it’s more often described as teratophilia but there does seem to be some overlap between the two. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but I think furries are into animal characters with human personalities and characteristics while teratophiliacs are straight up into monsters and their monster personalities (though our fish man is sweet and wholesome…mostly).

To be perfectly honest with you though, this is my first brush with it so I’m far from an expert!

Attention Those Interested in Watching The Shape of Water

A few days ago, I was in dismay upon learning that my theater (or any alternative theater options in my area) wouldn’t be showing The Shape of Water on December 8.

However,

I recently discovered something. I looked up the official website for the movie and came across this

You’ll notice that the December 8 release date is only for specific cities followed by additional cities on the 15th. But what I want everyone to notice is the nationwide release on December 22. So, if you were like me and dismayed that your local theater did not list Shape of Water as the release for this upcoming weekend, there may still be hope. We can save our distresses for the 22nd, which by that date will hopefully have a more definitive answer as to whether or not the general public will have access viewing this film.

To reiterate: December 8 is the limited release for selected cities. The nationwide release is scheduled for December 22

If you know someone that’s interested in seeing this movie, but doesn’t live in the listed cities above, please show them this post. And if there are any inaccuracies present here or new information comes out that discredits this post, please add to it so that people will be aware. I encourage all information that may help people to see The Shape of Water to be shared.

I know this is a highly anticipated film for many, myself included, and I just want to make sure that we are all aware of this release schedule so as to plan accordingly. And for anyone who lives in an area that will be showing this movie either tomorrow or next week, I sincerely hope you give this movie a chance.

Thank you for reading.

I’m excited for The Shape Of Water not because it’s going to be an amazing movie but because of the fanfiction. If fanfic can turn weird with ships imagine when the love interest is already a fishperson jesus the possibilities!

Same! I've been trying to write some for a while now and I'm honestly paralyzed by all of the possibilities.

Me: *wants the shape of water to have a happy ending for the main couple but also doesn’t want to get my hopes up but also remembers that one of del toro’s reasons for making the movie was because he was disappointed that the fishman from the creature of the black lagoon didn’t end up with the lady but also remembers the way pan’s labyrinth ended and jhbvfxdecjijvrwa*

The Shape of Water (2017)

And in this movie, the music was played to the Deaf woman, the keyword here is “DEAF”, how typical… this is your classic audism - to which the hearing folks think/assume that the Deaf folks are “lost” in a world of silence without any sounds or music…so they feel they have to play music for whatever reasons! FFS

Movies featuring music being played to the Deaf:

  • Mr. Holland’s Opus (1995)
  • The Children of Lesser God (1986)
  • Love is Never Silent (1985)
  • The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (1968)
  • Johnny Belinda (1948)
  • and many more…
Hearing people are definitely “special-needs” that’s for sure.

Elisa, the main character in this movie, is not deaf. She is mute.

I am so happy for this movie. Human/monster alien love stories are something I've been wanting for so long but are practically non existent. I'm hoping this forms a new community around it

I agree! It’s something I’m new to myself but it certainly seems to be getting a lot of support. There will always be people who don’t even want to give it a chance (and that’s fine) but I’m happy to see so many people being open-minded about it.
