Streaming companies are the landlords of media. You will rent in perpetuity, and never actually own anything.

✨🏴‍☠️ PIRATE AND DOWNLOAD YOUR FAVORITE MEDIA IMMEDIATELY. PIRATE AND DOWNLOAD YOUR FAVORITE MEDIA IMMEDIATELY 🏴‍☠️✨

1. Download Firefox

2. Add the following extensions: uBlock Origin, AdBlocker Ultimate, Privacy Badger, Privacy Possum, minerBlock (ClearURLs and Don’t track me Google also recommended but not necessary for this)

3. Go forth brave soldier

Going to add a bit to this: 1337x is an excellent site for torrents. Do not download from piratebay, ever. Usually if it’s something that can’t be malware it will be fine, but better be safe then sorry!

Also, use qbittorrent and, please, for the love of all that is holy, uninstall utorrent if you have it and never touch that wretched piece of software. Qbit is superior in every way and utorrent is incresibly untrustworthy

When downloading games, MIND THE UPLOADERS. If you see IGGgames, do not download, they distribute malware. The game may work, but your pc could be compromised. Aside from IGG, 1337x is quite safe!

A site that is NOT safe, yet is distressingly commonly used, is Steamunlocked. They redistribute IGG stuff, and therefore should never be downloaded from

For games in general, you should usually go to trusted sources, like Fitgirl-repacks (go to reddit for the real link, as there are some imposters) or Xatab (the site is in russian, but be not afraid)

Now, say you downloaded a torrent and the thing says it’s “seeding”. Go ahead and leave that to seed for as long as you can. It runs in the background and probably won’t interfere with anything. Long story short, torrenting is peer-to-peer, meaning that pirates download the file from the devices that it’s already on (like yours!) and not from a server host. As long as it’s seeding, people can get the file from your device.

Now go ahead, stay safe, seed torrents and remember to have a lot of fun!

>First, we’ve discovered that about a quarter of all the internet connection in or out of the house were ad related. In a few hours, that’s about 10,000 out of 40,000 processed.

>We also discovered that every link on Twitter was blocked. This was solved by whitelisting the https://t.co domain.

>Once out browsing the Web, everything is loading pretty much instantly. It turns out most of that Page Loading malarkey we’ve been accustomed to is related to sites running auctions to sell Ad space to show you before the page loads. All gone now.

>We then found that the Samsung TV (which I really like) is very fond of yapping all about itself to Samsung HQ. All stopped now. No sign of any breakages in its function, so I’m happy enough with that.

>The primary source of distress came from the habitual Lemmings player in the house, who found they could no longer watch ads to build up their in-app gold. A workaround is being considered for this.

>The next ambition is to advance the Ad blocking so that it seamlessly removed YouTube Ads. This is the subject of ongoing research, and tinkering continues. All in all, a very successful experiment.

>Certainly this exceeds my equivalent childhood project of disassembling and assembling our rotary dial telephone. A project whose only utility was finding out how to make the phone ring when nobody was calling.

>Update: All4 on the telly appears not to have any ads any more. Goodbye Arnold Clarke!

>Lemmings problem now solved.

>Can confirm, after small tests, that RTÉ Player ads are now gone and the player on the phone is now just delivering swift, ad free streams at first click.

>Some queries along the lines of “Are you not stealing the internet?” Firstly, this is my network, so I may set it up as I please (or, you know, my son can do it and I can give him a stupid thumbs up in response). But there is a wider question, based on the ads=internet model.

>I’m afraid I passed the You Wouldn’t Download A Car point back when I first installed ad-blocking plug-ins on a browser. But consider my chatty TV. Individual consumer choice is not the method of addressing pervasive commercial surveillance.

>Should I feel morally obliged not to mute the TV when the ads come on? No, this is a standing tension- a clash of interests. But I think my interest in my family not being under intrusive or covert surveillance at home is superior to the ad company’s wish to profile them.

>Aside: 24 hours of Pi Hole stats suggests that Samsung TVs are very chatty. 14,170 chats a day.

>YouTube blocking seems difficult, as the ads usually come from the same domain as the videos. Haven’t tried it, but all of the content can also be delivered from a no-cookies version of the YouTube domain, which doesn’t have the ads. I have asked my son to poke at that idea.

bout time I brought back the Laurel and Hardy flex tape-

From The Killers, 1946. A Film Noir Classic

I’m an archivist, behold my growing collection was of old photos mirroring timeless memes I’ve come across at various places I’ve worked.

i am the very model of a modern gay millennial i have a tumblr blog and a prescription for estradiol i've problems economic, psychological, and medical and sympathies political which border on heretical

I’m very well acquainted, too, with squabbling over media

On discourse I’m regrettably the new encyclopedia

I know the petty crimes of many YouTube personalities

and who’s been cancelled over slightly retrograde mentalities

I’m very good at diagnosing narcissistic tendencies

and calling out fictional people for interdependencies

in short in all things unimportant yet somehow perennial

I am the very model of a modern gay millennial.

"average cat owner spends 3 years in prison" factoid actualy just statistical error. average owner spends 0 years in prison. Miette's mother, who kicked her body like the football and went to jail for One Thousand Years is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Ever since I figured out I was aroace, I found myself enjoying shipping less and less - now to the point of seething, frothing repulsion, perhaps even hatred.

(I've never liked "x reader" or "x original character" fics or snippets. Don't like don't read, let people enjoy what they want, yes - but I am fucking EXHAUSTED of running into those fics despite my extensive use of the "block tag" function. Please use more than just the hyperspecific fandom tags.)

Anyway. I think enjoying shipping is a bit of a strong word - I've tolerated it because so many fics are ship-centered, especially in some fandoms. Some are really well-written and I've enjoyed them in the past.

But now all I feel is repulsion. Why can't those two characters be really good friends instead? Why do two people who are working together just have to go into a romantic and sexual relationship? WHY IS ROMANCE THE ONLY WAY TWO CHARACTERS CAN BE EMOTIONALLY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER??

People are always talking about how characters can’t just be friends anymore. That every pair of characters that act amicable towards each other gets labeled as lovers by the fandom and has their friendship completely disregarded. And all of that’s true. But I just want to say that it also applies to enemies to lovers.

Nobody can just be enemies either it seems. Every dynamic involving characters fighting or having a rivalry or otherwise unfriendly relationship gets reduced to “spicy sexual tension” and “hiding their true feelings behind a different kind of passion.” Hate, anger, fear, disgust, distrust, etc. are such interesting human emotions on their own. They don’t need romance to make them interesting. People can just hate each other sometimes.

I’m so sick of romance culture and it’s need to insert itself into everything to make things better, more interesting, or more complex. Maybe if you just stop and shut up for a second, you’d see that it’s already all that and more. People need to learn to appreciate emotions that aren’t love and lust, and types of passion that aren’t motivated by love or lust, and character dynamics that don’t revolve and love and lust.

And people actually think that enemies to lovers is rare and underrated? “I’m so quirky and edgy! I like enemies to lovers and real relationships that aren’t all unicorns and rainbows!” Yeah and so do the rest of the 8 billion people on this planet, you’re not special. Like yeah, ship what you want or whatever, but I’m just sick of this shit.

So Arizona launched an “education hotline” that allows “concerned parents” to report “””critical race theory””” and other things like ~gender identity~ being taught in the classroom

It would be a shame if the number and email were spread to bad actors looking to prank call the AZ Department of Education

602-771-3500 or empower @ azed .gov 🤡

and for the love of god, don’t just spam it with memes or le funny shrek jokes or whatever, they’ll just hang up

make plausible-sounding reports for things that don’t actually exist, so that they actually have to waste time/resources investigating false leads - the goal is to waste time they would otherwise be using to do their jobs, not to get tumblr clout for being an epic troll

Okay, you need to make sure you play this game at some point. Maybe not today or anything, because you’ll need about thirty minutes and a serious willingness to understand how it works, but - it’s so worth it. It’s basically an answer to our occasional frustration - why do assholes always come out on top? - and the beautiful thing about it is that not only does it explain how that happens, but also how we can change it.

“In the short run, the game defines the players. But in the long run, it’s us players who define the game.”

This is fascinating if you’re into math or sociology or computer programming or all of the above.

Everyone, everywhere, without exception, should play this thing through.

Don’t check just this - check out all of Nicky Case’s work. They’re a brilliant creator and I heavily recommend checking out at least one of their projects.  Their website can be found here.

Parable of the Polygons - an interactive experiment that shows how tiny individual biases can collectively cause segregation on a massive scale.

To Build a Better Ballot - an interactive experiment that shows the alternatives to the voting systems we currently use and how they can be more representative and democratic, along with their faults.

Coming Out Simulator - a short interactive story/novel about coming out, based off of Case’s own experiences. Not one I’ve played myself but still one I can recommend.

Loopy - a very simple but useful tool to show how systems interact with each other and how things can self-propagate.

We Become What We Behold - “ a game about news cycles, vicious cycles, infinite cycles.“ A short five-minute game about news and media. Warnings for violence, blood, death and stress.
