i've never had such fake, shallow friendships as i have with white, liberal, "queer" friends. people i've supposedly been close with for years consistently left me on read when i texted them at 4am in hospital scared and alone with critically low sats because they didn't have the energy for emotional labour. you have to ask to vent, respect triggers, never ever traumadump, so real conversations are difficult because nobody wants to complain - unless, of course, it's related to identity somehow - you can say you had a bad day because your teacher is transphobic, but not because you had an argument at home or threw up or just didn't feel well - none of it comes from genuine concern but instead the rules and norms within your online community. constant reassurance, validation, knowing there's no possibility of a nuanced discussion on anything other than your approved safe topics. attempts at open communication feel sanitized and are laced with therapy-speak, not reflecting real human emotions, but "i sincerely apologize for crossing your boundaries" because it's ideologically wrong, the undertone is 'please don't make a callout on me', not 'i'm sorry', abuse and manipulation are wrong because they get you ostracised and put on blast publicly by your friendship group so any little disagreement comes with a flurry of reassurance that you aren't an abuser, and they still call you they/them behind your back, they still ask your other friends what they think of your opinion on ace discourse, have you crossed the line yet, can we cut you out yet, it's so fucking tiring and there's no space for real connection or humanity in all of it
the whole "queerplatonic relationships" thing makes a lot more when you consider this. when all your friends treat favors like chores and emotional connections like financial transactions, having actual friends can feel different on a whole new level
It must be utterly exhausting to have to live that way.

- It's fueling Qanon quacks. There are people out there that believe some absolutely insane stuff, and they're using this film as proof to back up their insane beliefs. Those people think that the fact that CST is real is proof that Trump was fighting some secret cabal and other nonsensical stories.
TDLR: It's highly fictionalized with bad acting that misinforms people and misrepresents CST, while also drawing eyes away from other films that did what it tried to do but better, and it's making crazy people even more crazy.

Hey quick question - have you seen the film? What do you know about the actual story it's based on? Maybe this is news to you but for most people it's common knowledge that when a film is made based on a real story, movies always take some liberties and fictionalize parts of it for dramatic effect. It doesn't make a bad film or speak against it unless it is so wrong it equates to lying. But leftists seem to completely forgotten that movies do that when it comes to The Sound of Freedom.
Please, do tell exactly what they fictionalized and why it's bad enough that leftists are coming out in droves to discourage people from watching it (even though not a single one of them have seen it).

Bad acting is never an objective point. Again, have you seen the film? If you don't like the acting that's fine. A lot of people think the acting was very good. I thought the acting was fine. So at this point I'm pretty sure you haven't seen it. You're just repeating what you've heard by people who haven't watched it. That's a very vague claim. Please give me very specific examples from the film that you think gives a false idea of child sex trafficking and why it's harmful. Because I don't think you actually know much about this issue and you're just following the mob.

First, a narrative movie is always going to reach more people than a documentary. The sad fact is most people have zero interest in documentaries, and the ones who do, usually have some pre-existing interest or stake in the subject. If anon really cares about child sex trafficking and wants to promote accurate information, they should be glad Sound of Freedom is as popular as it is because it's going to make a lot more people aware of the issue.
Second, the media and the people like anon who can't stop crying about the movie are directly responsible for Streisand Effecting it. Whining about Qanon nonsense that almost no one on the right takes seriously to try and discredit a movie bringing awareness to CST and a real organization that's fighting it has drawn a line in the sand. Criticizing the movie is now seen as support for pedophilia, for a wide variety of reasons, only some of them unreasonable. It's the people on your side, anon, that drew this line. And you are firmly placing yourself on the wrong side of it by attacking the movie instead of promoting your "better media". Which you could have easily done by saying "if you liked Sound of Freedom, check these documentaries out. They do deep dives into CST and give more factual information than you get from a 2 hour movie. Here are some other organizations you can donate to to help stop children from being trafficked and abused." But you didn't.

I don't know exactly how you plan to implement this. Give people the option to keep them collapsed if there truly are people who are annoyed by how long they can get (you already have a version of this feature), but don't collapse them for everyone or new users by default. Please. It will make Tumblr so much more boring.
