Wait I realized this Twitter rate limiting thing happened literally the same day as the Reddit 3rd party app shut downs. Wonder how many of those users have come here today to this Luigi Wins By Doing Nothing Ass website
want to be clear that if i ever talk about a headcanon and then later discuss a headcanon that is directly contradictory to the first one, that’s because headcanons exist in a quantum state where they are all simultaneously true and not true up until the point where i discuss it in detail, in which case that is the one that is true in that instance. schroedinger’s headcanons
that’s what characters ARE. not people, but potential. many things, as needed, no matter how mutually exclusive.
[IMAGE ID: tags reading #good idea generator #yse i think this character is aroace. yes i think she is a lesbian. yes i think she’s bisexual #no not all at once just when i’m not fic writing. once i start fic writing the waveform collapses and only one of those is true #what is the point of being in fan spaces if i cannot explore like 700 different interpretations of the same character/storyline/dynamic/etc #wrow End ID.]
“Here’s why you can’t exterminate us, aruetii. We’re not huddled in one place-we span the galaxy. We need no lords or leaders-so you can’t destroy our command. We can live without technology-so we can fight with our bare hands. We have no species or bloodline-so we can rebuild our ranks with others who want to join us. We’re more than just a people or an army, aruetii. We’re a culture. We’re an idea. And you can’t kill ideas-but we can certainly kill you.”
— Ranah Teh Naast, Mandalore the Destroyer, daughter of Uvhen Chal, giving the Consul of Luon a final chance to surrender during the siege of the city [Imperial Commando: 501st]
Maybe not really a hot take but Satine is an awful leader.
Everyone wants to gloss over how much horrible shit Satine either directly or inadvertently caused not only to her people but their culture. Like, she basically helped cause a mass cultural genocide and then stopped teaching anything about Mandalorians basic culture. Not only that but she left her entire planet/people defenseless basically, from both inside and outside forces. Point: Death Watch basically rebuilding under her nose and all of the horrible Shit they were doing. Like how do you let one of Mandalore’s biggest terroist groups, who have done horrible shit against their own people, fucking run rampant? Like how??? Also all the fucking criminal organizations running around and running shit behind her back.
Sure she was willing to die for her beliefs, but she wasn’t willing to fight for them. For her people. I honestly don’t like her and Obi-Wan together for the simple fact that the whole Melida/Daan arc part of his backstory would be upset by her choices in the long run. Obi-Wan knew Cerasi; a girl who wanted to have peace and stop the fighting, but knew she knew laying down her weapons or disarming wouldn’t lead them to peace. She fought for her people, for her peace and died for it. She wanted more than anything for the fighting and bloodshed to end, as well as knowing that violence wasn’t always the answer, nor did it always feel good, but you needed to be able to stand up and fight for yourself. For your home and people. Cerasi fought for her people and her right to peace. She fought for her people and what they wanted/needed when her planet was in turmoil. She fought so other wouldn’t have too.
Satine didn’t fight for basically anything; most of the time it was Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, or literally anyone else doing to for her. She stood on her soap box of holier-than-thou bullshit and literally helped tear apart an entire culture because of her selfish beliefs. She may not have used a gun or knife, but she used her words as weapons against an entire culture. To demean and demonize a whole group of people for their beliefs while she raised her own as the superior one. It’s fucking hypocritical. Not to mention the entire white washing and low diversity of species in Mandalore during her reign, when Mandalorians before where they were very diverse with all sorts of races/species. And instead of learning from past mistakes, from using her history and bettering Mandalore with it, she decided to abandon all of her culture to become more like the republic.
And honestly the biggest argument to her criticism is: ‘Satine doesn't want to use violence because the history of Mandalore is based around a ton of violence’ or ‘Violence isn’t the answer’. So let’s break these two arguments down.
1) Just because a group of peoples ancestors or past has violence doesn’t mean their culture/people bad. Many cultures or groups of people have pasts with a lot of violence against them or from them. But they learn from it, they might not make these changes immediately but they will change with time and support. Not only that, but just because a culture has of war or violence doesn’t mean you should learn from it or see the strengths of that culture because of it. The actions may have been wrong but to see the strengths of your people, even from stuff you may (or may not) perceive as bad helps cultures and people to grow. To learn from the past to not repeat it. It is common sense.
2) I will agree that violence outright will not solve every problem, nor should it. Diplomacy is something we should strive for. But saying that all violence, even in defense is wrong is idiotic. Even if a culture has a part of violent nature doesn’t mean a person defending themselves will turn them into a aggressive person or some shit. Being able to fight and stand your ground is the most basic instinct of most people. To defend one’s self and loved ones is a reason to fight. To fight for justice, for peace, for freedom! All are good reasons to fight. Maybe not everyone frights for the right reasons, but that doesn’t mean all fighting or violence is needless. Demilitarizing your people and telling them to not take up arms against invaders or aggressors is not only fucking stupid but honestly a horrific idea. Either they fight and majority of people will condemn them, or they don’t fight and end up getting hurt or dying. Or worse.
EDIT: she also sent a lot of people who disagreed with her off mandalore because violence bad. But cultural genocide is totally okay 🙄
being a jew studying preholocaust european jewish history is just *mourns over what could have been, mourns over what could have been, mourns over what could have been, mourns over what could have been, mourns-*
WWII alternate history stories always go “What if the Nazis won.” WHAT IF THE JEWS LIVED?
That’s actually such a good point about alternative history. So many ask “what if we got the bad ending?”, ignorant of the fact we did, that’s just a worse ending.
Asking “what if the Nazis won” allows one to live in the safe world where the Nazis were the root source of evil in WWII. Asking “what if the Jews lived” forces you to confront the fact that almost all of Europe was complicit in their eradication. Every European power, the United states, everyone involved hated the Jewish people. Everyone was complicit in antisemitism, everyone just sat back and let it happen.
It took an invasion of Poland for the UK and France to act, and it took a direct attack on the US for the US to officially get involved. All of the torture, enslavement, and murder of Jews before this were overlooked because not even below the surface, the German antisemitism wasn’t unique. And basically nobody has the guts to address that.
every country on the planet, except haiti, set limits on the number of jewish refugees allowed in. every country, except haiti, participated in the holocaust.
listen. aging into your thirties rocks. yes your joints get a little creaky. yes you can’t sleep in a pretzel on the floor anymore after a concert or a convention. and you lose some friends. but the thing is that you sort out who your real friends are and you sort out who you really are. and you get to see your friends settling into careers they like, and adopt new dogs and cats, and you find a job you can stand, and get really good at arts and crafts, and maybe that book you loved as a kid gets a movie deal and it doesn’t suck, and you learn to like new food and bake your own bread, and you realize that the great portfolio of self harm scars you all used to curate are going white with age and not updated, and half your friends are a different gender now and so much happier and maybe you are too, and you know who you are, and that it’s a journey and not a revelation. it’s a direction you’re headed, and you’re enjoying the trip.
reaching your 30′s rocks. and i’m hearing good things about what comes next, too.
i am looking into your eyes, i am holding your hand. i absolutely promise.
if you can just live long enough, your soul will build your body into a home. you will live there and you will find a way to be at peace. it’s worth the time and it’s worth the work. i promise.
Your soul will build your body into a home.

Imagine Eddie as a ferret dad. Like he goes off to college (not a great one, but he still got in- music and drama) and he’s not allowed pets in his dorm but he sneaks this little thing in and whenever people come over he’s just got a joint in his mouth and a ferret in his hand like
He’s no longer the freak. No longer the outcast, miles away from his lingering reputation. He’s the ferret dude who plays sick guitar.
okay i cannot shut up about them
steve being the one average intelligence friend among fucking geniuses (most of which are like fucking 13 year olds / all of which are younger than him) must be so damaging to his self esteem
because he’s only surrounded by child prodigies, a literal genius that’s fluent in several languages, and (probably the valedictorian if she wanted to be) a badass genius journalist, he has no example of what average intelligence is and just assumes he is stupid
which is not helped by the fact that everyone looks down on him/calls him an idiot/expects him to know everything!! so they just enforce this belief that he’s stupid and less than just because he’s not as intelligent as the rest of them
and then along comes eddie munson who failed senior year twice, yet is an amazing storyteller and genius DM, who knows about all these cool things and guess what? dustin looks up to him!
and steve knows dustin isn’t replacing him but dustin thinking he was cool was one of the only things holding his facade together
and then robin is only thinking about vickie and of course steve wants to help and he listens and gives advice, but robin was the only one who was around, who hung out with him, who listened
and max is isolating herself, and lucas has basketball and hellfire, and he doesn’t think nancy would ever want to be friends, so it’s. just him.
and then
and THEN
steve is walking through the upside down with eddie munson, and eddie references something he doesn’t get, and steve expresses his confusion and is prepared to be made fun of- but eddie just. tells him? explains it to him?
and it catches him off guard because no one has done that before, even as King Steve carol would roll her eyes and tommy would laugh whenever he asked them something. whenever he asked questions in class (which was rarely) the teachers told him he should’ve been paying attention but he was- he just didn’t get it
so steve tests it again later on and the same thing happens- even in front of the others, when steve asks a question eddie just tells him without poking fun and it’s… it’s really nice actually
once vecna is defeated and everyone survives (bc fuck you) steve continues to badger eddie with questions, looks to him whenever he doesn’t understand what’s going on and eddie will immediately explain it in a way he can understand
a while after they become good friends, steve just has to ask.
“does it get annoying?”
“…does what get annoying?”
“me asking you about stuff all the time”
but eddie just smiles at him, tells him how he actually loves that steve asks because it means he’s engaged and interested, when eddie is used to people getting bored of his rants/tirades
he tells steve that he loves explaining things to him, loves that he listens and pays attention and steve realizes oh, we’re kind of perfect for each other aren’t we?
he thinks he’s okay with that. especially if eddie keeps smiling at him and telling him about anything and everything he wants to
