be as kind as possible, as often as possible

Hello, I am Kontextmaschine. I am 27 and not entirely happy with my life.

I had a livejournal, got it way back when I was the kind of person who had a livejournal. Now I see the people still there still are, and I seem to have become the kind of person who has a tumblr. Maybe I’ll still keep it up, split topics between them, we’ll see.

I will write about history, modern society, and my life. I will often write as if these things are indistinguishable.

Also sometimes there will be happy hardcore.

The title comes from an idea I once had to write a column tracing the history and precedents of events in the news, like some sort of “context machine”. But we all know the story of modern journalism, and I guess this is the place for that, now.

I made it Kontextmaschine because a machine dedicated to historicism is obviously German.

Hello Kontextmaschine who would have been 40 but never did become entirely happy with your life.

I had a livejournal too, and I read your tumblr, about history, society and your life. I’ll miss reading that. Never did share your taste in music though.

I liked your choice of name. It suited you well. Rest in peace, friend.

tumblr says not everyone uses tumblr so here's a poll to prove to tumblr just how tumblr using people are

wow it seems tumblr users are evenly split on whether they use tumblr or not! reblog for a larger sample size.

The Commission’s unexplained discounting of the obvious financial and mathematical relationship between the spot and futures markets falls short of the standard for reasoned decisionmaking.

when a judge (iudex non calculat) knocks your mathematical and logical reasoning capabilities, you really gotta rethink your life

Ahead of a retreat of the German government in Castle Meseberg on Tuesday and Wednesday (29 and 30 August), calls to subsidise electricity prices for energy-intensive industries are getting louder, increasing pressure on Chancellor Olaf Scholz to make a decision.
The parliamentary group of Scholz’ SPD – which will meet on Monday ahead of the government retreat – has circulated a concept paper, seen by EURACTIV, to introduce a subsidised electricity price of 5 cents per kilowatt hour for certain industries over the next five years.

As German producers are struggling with higher gas and electricity prices after the country turned away from Russian gas, Economy Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) had initially proposed to subsidise electricity prices for energy-intensive industries, such as chemical or steel producers.
This should keep industries in the country that might otherwise relocate their production.
Habeck, who promoted the idea of a “bridge electricity price” of 6 cents for 80% of heavy-industry needs until 2030, said that “the question is: not to borrow money or to have no more industry”, and that he would therefore opt for taking on more debt.

Members of Habeck’s Green party, however, have increased pressure on Scholz to let go of his cautious position, with Lower Saxony’s Energy Minister Christian Meyer (Greens), posting on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that “the Chancellor’s stance is against industry, trade unions and climate protection”.
“We urgently need the transformation electricity price as proposed by Robert Habeck. Now!,” Meyer wrote.
