Today in needlessly inflammatory statements: more so even than Harry Potter, I’m most frequently tempted to say “please for the love of God consume other media” to people talking about ATLA and Discworld.
(For sake of clarity: both Avatar and Pratchett’s novels are genuinely good and worth watching/reading. I just find that in both cases substantial swathes of their fandoms talk about them as if everything you need to know about fiction, art, and life itself can be found within them. And, well, no.)
