The New World shopping mall is a four storey former shopping mall in Bang Lamphu, Bangkok. After a fire it closed down in 1999 and not having a roof, the basement floor remains under several feet of water year round. At some point in the early 2000′s neighbours began introducing a small population of exotic Koi and Catfish species apparently to control the spread of mosquitoes breeding in the stagnant water. The small group of fish began to thrive and the result is now a self-sustained population.
