excited to share my first ofmd fanbinding project! this show has gripped me tightly and refused to let me go, and i have read a truly staggering amount of fic since i first watched it back in april. i wanted to collect my favorite one-shots into a single printed volume, but i found quickly that i had too many for a single volume, so Starcharts is instead volume one of ??? and i'm already typesetting the second (even longer) volume

this was my first time doing a collection of works by different authors--check out the fifth picture for a list of included authors! there are so many talented writers in the ofmd fandom (and more that will appear in volume two 👀) and i am so excited to discover even more for future volumes

i experimented a bit more with the typesetting for this one, and i changed up my front matter format, including the debut of my own bookbinding logo/name. i bought a hand-dyed red silk ribbon specifically for this project and i'm so pleased with how it looks 💕 featuring two kinds of handmade book cloth and a pasted-on title label

in a bittersweet way i like that we, the audience, know that gerri still cares about roman in a way that roman doesn’t. we saw her during the funeral ep, we saw her stricken watching him struggle through the speech and cry, we know she watched him walk out, we know she stuck up for him about the video. he wasn’t in a place to be able to perceive those things happening around him, especially since he probably wanted to pretend she wasn’t there after their last conversation. so when we see her looking at him through the glass in the finale, we know she’s probably just concerned about him and wondering how he is, which is why she looks at him twice instead of walking right by and ignoring him. there’s a very slight invitation there to interact. but when he feels her eyes on him, all he perceives is the crushing awful weight of having failed her, because he doesn’t know what we know. and that’s hell. but it’s nice.
