one time in my last job a woman came up to the register explaining that when she bought stuff a day prior the clerk forgot to scan a pair of socks worth less than €2 and it was only right for her to bring it back to the store and pay for it proper. unfortunately my manager was directly next to me at the time and took over the register to handle this serious issue. the receipt she had brought with her said which register performed the previous transaction that forgot the socks and the manager could find out who was running that till on that day. poor dude had a manager yell at him for a half hour about how much of an incompetent fuck up he was, he left the job immediately after but i couldnt tell you if he quit or was fired

i think about this moment a lot. the customer seemed like a sweet woman with only good intentions and when she paid for the socks she had a look on her face that said "i feel good because i did the right thing". and a guy lost his job because of a pair of socks. if shit like this ever happens to you and a clerk forgets to scan an item just think of it as a small blessing or that you had good luck or something. keep it.

People don't like to admit it bcs cringe or w/e but Homestuck really did revolutionize the webcomic as a storytelling medium and I am endlessly frustrated that before webcomic artists could really stretch our legs fucking webtoonz swooped in, set a new, more restrictive standard, and then monetized and monopolized the ever living fuck out of the concept of The Webcomic until it drove away anyone who couldn't be a professional quality manga artist for free, and now the only webcomics that actually feel like spiritual successors to Homestuck are so obscure they're basically cult classics that you have to beg people to read.

Like it's just so wild to be in high school and see Homestuck be like "we're using like fifteen different artistic mediums to tell this story bcs we can" and be really fucking inspired by that, only to grow up and see basically every webcomic ever have to conform to One Single Standard or fucking perish.

Actually, I realized my real point here: we all need to make our art weirder. Please make weird art. I want more stuff like Prequel Adventure and 17776 and MyHouse.wad and I want it now. Capitalism thrives on conformity. We must be weird at all costs.

Its not bad overall. I like that theres alot more space filled in here.

But I have one major problem.

The in-tab notifications are WRONG.

It used to be that for every new post you havent loaded yet, tumblr would get a little number up on its tab. Encouraging you to go back to it and look at the new posts. I've been using this for years to ensure I dont miss posts during the day.

As you can see, it is not doing that. When I am in a different tab I am incapable of seeing if any new posts have come in until I reopen the tumblr tab.

Oh well now what DOES add that little number up there telling me to look at the tab?

Now the site encourages you to click back because you got engagement.

And maybe Im thinking about that part too much. But it disgusts me and I cant think of any OTHER reason that change would've been made.

Staff tried to tell us they want people looking at posts. They want them lookign at the BEST posts ect ect algorithm bullshit. But with this? Clearly they dont want me looking at posts! Or they'd TELL me posts are there to be seen when I'm tabbed out! They want me seeing engangement. Engagement I do not usually get because I do not make original posts often! They want us to get on the engagement dopamine rush every other fuckign site runs off of.

That sounds like a bug, please file a Support ticket so we can look into it!

I was looking at seagull stickers for my instagram story and I came across seagulls saying supportive things like "You matter! <3" and that's the first time I've gone "He would not fucking say that" over an animal.
