i loved this episode because it really shows that it wasn't just anakin who lost padmé. yes the narrative followed him and focused on his point of view but. padmé was loved.

she was a great senator who fought for the people, who pushed to make the republic a better place for everyone, who personally showed up where she was needed, no matter the planet, no matter the distance.

she was sweet, compassionate, strong, determined, and the people of the republic loved her.

seeing bail and mon grieving her loss, seeing ahsoka, who was supposed to be as far away as possible from that place, showing up to grieve her. well it hurt.

I totally agree with you about people insulting Kenobi 😭😭 I watch Andor w my more "mainstream" sw friends and it's constantly like "wow this is sooo much better than Kenobi" "the writing in this is so good, unlike Kenobi." And I'm constantly like "how dare you insult my favorite character??? The show that got me back into sw??? You dare slander the best sw show??"

I get so defensive too, like I’m aware there are valid criticisms of the Kenobi show, but I loved it, and love means a kind of forgiving blindness that accepts the flaws as part of the whole and loves them too. Hearing people criticize it without kindness and patience and willingness to meet the media where it is… it hurts like nails on a chalkboard. Hearing people put it down to boost up Andor makes me feel so frustrated. They’re such different shows, with different audiences, different goals, different plots. It’s not worse, it’s in a different category.

Idk this is a pet peeve of mine but I think the audience for Andor is the kind of adults who think they are too smart for Star Wars, and are too cynical for fairy tales. It’s for the people who don’t want to watch a space fantasy that’s pleasant or for kids, they want gritty morally complex adult television, and they’re getting it! I’m happy for them, and think Andor is great for them. I’m just not always one of those people. I appreciate the genre of space fantasy and mythological, exaggerated, tragic storytelling. It’s great that Andor exists and meets the needs of that audience but gahhhhh
