It's so funny to me how I like tmnt not just one specific version but the whole franchise. Interacting with the fandom feels like talking about our cats to another cat lover; it's amazing.

Essentially-

some tabs have been open on my phone for literally 2 years they r like brothers to me

you are all sick in the head

sorry for getting attached to the white chocolate cheesecake recipe i opened in february 2020. as if its my fault

Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.

pov: you’ve been transported to the 17th century

I'm crying. Here's a photo of a sailor from the Götheborg watching over the little sailboat in tow:

From the story:

We repeatedly emphasized that we were aboard a small 8-meter sailboat, but the response was the same each time: "We are a 50-meter three-masted sailboat, and we offer our assistance in towing you to Paimpol." We were perplexed by the size difference between our two boats, as we feared being towed by a boat that was too large and at too fast a speed that could damage our boat. The arrival of the Götheborg on the scene was rapid and surprising, as we did not expect to see a merchant ship from the East India Company of the XVIII century. This moment was very strange, and we wondered if we were dreaming. Where were we? What time period was it? The Götheborg approached very close to us to throw the line and pass a large rope. The mooring went well, and our destinies were linked for very long hours, during which we shared the same radio frequency to communicate with each other. The crew of the Götheborg showed great professionalism and kindness towards us. They adapted their speed to the size of our boat and the weather conditions. We felt accompanied by very professional sailors. Every hour, the officer on duty of the Götheborg called us to ensure everything was going well.[...] This adventure, very real, was an incredible experience for us. We were extremely lucky to cross paths with the Götheborg by chance and especially to meet such a caring crew. Dear commander and crew of the Götheborg, your kindness, and generosity have shown that your ship is much more than just a boat. It embodies the noblest values of the sea, and we are honored to have had the chance to cross your path and benefit from your help.

"Our destinies were linked for very long hours" is just knocking me out.

I dislike dogs, I think they're annoying and I generally dislike their personalities unless they're a) working (in which case I shouldn't interfere with them) or b) basically cats (in which case, just get a cat, they're far more physically pleasant to touch). I'm not afraid of them and I don't hate or resent their existence, they're important animals, I just don't want them around me.

But if a dog comes over and wants pets or play then I WILL pretend I love it and I will pet it so much because it's not the dog's fault that I don't like them. It wouldn't understand my rejection and I don't want to make it sad. Just because it's an unpleasant animal doesn't mean it deserves to be sad.

There seems to be a deeper philosophy one could derive from this but as it is its solid.

Behaving with basic compassion for other living things regardless of whether they fulfil your own emotional and aesthetic preferences. The world makes me happy but the amount of happiness I bring others isn't contingent on them making me happy first. It's not a serotonin transaction.

... Transactional Serotonin would make an absolutely fucking baller band name.

"The trannies should be able to piss in whatever toilet they want and change their bodies however they want. Why is it my business if some chick has a dick or a guy has a pie? I'm not a trannie or a fag so I don't care, just give 'em the medicine they need."

"This is an LGBT safe space. Of COURSE I fully support individuals who identify as transgender and their right to self-determination! I just think that transitioning is a very serious choice and should be heavily regulated. And there could be a lot of harm in exposing cis children to such topics, so we should be really careful about when it is appropriate to mention trans issues or have too much trans visibility."

One of the above statements is Problematic and the other is slightly annoying. If we disagree on which is which then working together for a better future is going to get really fucking difficult.

Someone who says they don't care if dudes wear dresses and makeup is a better ally than someone who says they're a safe space for women and non-binary people. I am not joking.
