My problem (and it is my problem, YMMV) with a lot of murderbot whump is that people tend to be better at writing torture and pain and fear and vulnerability than they are at writing legitimately scary villains, so I spend the whole fic going, "Wait, you're telling me that pathetic excuse for a villain got the drop on you?? That loser? On you???"
I saw one fic where Tlacey came back from the presumed dead and chopped off Murderbot's entire arm and nearly killed it.

Really?
One of the main reasons I love TMB is because it hits my hypercompetence kink just right. It's Cyborg!John Wick. So I can't stand Murderbot being helpless in situations I think Murderbot should definitely be able to get itself out of with minimal effort. I can't stand whump that makes Murderbot look incompetent. If the author can't come up with a sufficiently badass villain I'm noping out.
