my worst trait is thinking I never have anything interesting to say because then it leads to moments where my friends are shocked I wrote entire books and voice acted in some popular podcasts. and im like yeah. i think the people who try to claim all mcyt stuff is abt the ccs and use that as some moral standpoint (a la “rpf is disgusting you’re all awful for endorsing rpf”) have a fundamental misunderstanding of how. acting works?

like they say that if u draw a character and base their appearance off what the cc looks like then ur just drawing the cc and ur awful and thats just. wrong. ur still drawing the character. like if you drew a character from a movie and made them look how they do in the movie, you’re still drawing the character, not the actor. 

“oh but the character has the same name as the cc so its weirder” literally no??? its very rare that these ccs are actually using their Full Legal Name for their characters. and in the case that they are (joe hills immidiately springs to mind), well. there’s plenty of other media where the characters share at least the same first name as their actors (welcome to night vale, for example). 

this is going nowhere and not particularly spurred by anything new, im just tired of mcyt fans (and antis, which is worse cuz their information is usually wrong) trying to argue morality in fan content.

i feel like all fandom spaces would improve dramatically if more people learned how to enjoy non-canon ships which were never written as romantic without acting entitled to official validation or throwing a hissy fit over not getting something that they were never promised
