I just, I have so many feelings about the Nimona movie. It had such a good portrayal of oppression and discrimination. Also the trans allegory and how Nimona only referenced themself by their name was chefs kiss.
The way the director described her dream perfectly describes the mindsets of people who truly believe they are doing the right thing. (ie. We need to protect our children and the future) . But that doesn't excuse the fact that you are actually causing harm while trying to justify your actions, literal mass murder!
This movie is also a brilliant example of nepotism in authority via the knights. The fact that everyone hated Ballister because they only saw him as a commoner and didn't believe he was worthy or skilled enough despite proving himself to be capable. The portrayal of Ballister as poc and the rest of the knights as white (as far as I can tell) also points out the racism depicted in the justice system.
This is the perfect let's overthrow the government type of movie and includes so many real world problems perfectly.
fascinating to me that in she-ra, catra’s “i’m sorry! for everything!” is in her moment of saving adora by saving her friend (that catra had hated for stealing adora away for so long)
whereas in nimona, ambrosius’ “i’m sorry… for everything” is when he believes that ballister is not the villain, but that his new friend is the monster behind it all

"i swear on gloreth's name." ballister said this to the director when he got captured but there's a chance that nimona overheard it when she was later shown to be in the cell with him. why has gloreth been so glorified in so many centuries that one's innocence is sworn upon her name?
"what in the name of gloreth" as if gloreth had the answers, why do people even need to name drop her?
when people exclaim "oh good gloreth" when gloreth has brought nothing good in nimona's life.
when the news end with "good day and may gloreth guide you always." guide people to what? to assume the worst in someone that's different than them when their parents pointed it out? to never clear out a wrong even though they knew what's the truth?
when nimona pretended to be ambrosius and the director said "may gloreth forgive you." deep down there's a big chance that after all these years, nimona still hasn't forgiven gloreth.
yes, she and gloreth were children. the flashback may be short and if we base it from there... maybe the tale of gloreth has just been a great exaggeration the entire time. there might have been a possibility that more things happened after that flashback with a grown-up gloreth hence the statue. but the fact stands that nimona's story was never righted for the past one thousand years. she never stood a chance after gloreth.
