So the Broadway Season of 16-17 is incredible and I have so many feelings about it
I only have the knowledge of the new Broadway Musicals so that’s what I’ll talk about.
FIRST OFF COME FROM AWAY:
This show has such a powerful message as the shit show of 2016 is over. It’s such a wholesome piece of theatre that the world so desperately needed now. Such a powerful ensemble and story that is BEAUTIFULLY crafted to create such a welcoming story of love in tragedy. Has a lot of potential at the Tonys this year.
NEXT A BRONX TALE:
This show fascinates me. It sounds very west side story meets zoot suit meets little shop to me.( I maybe a little crazy but just my two cents)
I think this show is a big contender for the choreography, but overall may receive the Bright Star treatment and get shut down at the Tonys.
NEXT BANDSTAND: (Disclaimer, I’ve seen very little of the show but I have thoughts. So deal)
This show will probably get the Bonnie and Clyde treatment if I’m being real, however I’m fascinated in particularly with Corey Cott. Everything he’s done with the show just is absolutely amazing and same goes for Laura Osnes as well. Could be contenders for the Tonys but only time will tell.
NEXT CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
PIPPA IS BACK YO
FINALLY DEAR EVAN HANSEN
easily the biggest Tonys contender. Brilliant story with brilliant actors and actresses. Also BEN FREAKIN PLATT. DAMN. Like the fact he does that 8 times a week is profound. Pasek and Paul have crafted a masterpiece.
Keep in mind these thoughts are opinions about the show and actually just are my rambles.
If I had to guess some tonys right now I’d say
BEST ACTOR: Ben Platt or Corey Cott
BEST ACTRESS: Phillipa Soo or Laura Osnes or Ariana DeBose
BEST SCORE: Come from away or Dear Evan Hansen or Bronx Tale
BEST SCENIC: Come from away or Bronx Tale
BEST BOOK: Bandstand or Come From Away
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: ANYONE FROM COME FROM AWAY OR DEAR EVAN HANSEN TBH
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: SAME AS ABOVE
BEST MUSICAL: DEAR EVAN HANSEN OR COME FROM AWAY

Do you know how Broadway Stars are always like “I grew up listening to Into the woods and West side story” “I was obsessed with Patti Lupone” “Bernadette Peters was my idol” “My parents will always put Les mis in the car”
Well, in a few years, Broadway stars will say things like “I grew up listening to Hamilton and Spring Awakening” “I was obsessed with Jonathan Groff and Aaron Tveit” “Idina Menzel and Laura Benanti were my idols” “My parents will always put Hairspray in the car”
We are the new generation, the girl who sits next to you in choir could become the main character in the next Broadway hit, that boy who does really nice covers on Youtube may be the next tony winner. Hell, the person reading this can become the next Broadway stars and inspiration for thousands of children from all over the world.
