~*~britney~*~

Confession: its been more than a week and Britney’s new and GREAT song has been completely been overshadowed by Katy Perry’s mediocre song. Especially on Belgian radio stations. But in other charts as well. And frankly, it pisses me off.

As a hardcore Britney fan, I couldn’t care less about Work Bitch being played or not. Back in 2013, I was dissapointed in Britney because it wasn’t a bad song. Britney Jean was not a bad album. But it wasn’t good either. But I was cautiously excited when I heard Make Me. It’s a completely different direction she’s taking, and she’s actually doing a good job. Her vocals are good. The lyrics are good. And G-Eazy takes the song to the next level. I’m not saying Rise isn’t good. I like Katy. But it’s not new and refreshing, it’s just Katy Perry. And as far as I can tell, it’s not more radio friendly. She’s not more radio friendly.

A friend of mine, also a Britney fan, has been pushing the song on a major top 40 radio station (Q-music). They’re always quick to respond and quite friendly. But he always gets the same response. “I’m sorry, it’s not up to me”. So who is it up to? The DJ’s at the station say it’s up to the editors. The editors tell my friend its up to the DJ’s.

On my quest to figure it out, I have asked myself: perhaps radio stations really hate Britney? Before doing some research, I already knew the answer: nah, there isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t hear Britney. But I checked anyway and noticed the playlist was not lacking Britney Spears at all. Toxic, Crazy, BOMT,… So they’ll play her music, but not Make Me? So it only leaves me with one question:
