Featuring Sandra Zupanic

Hey Sandra! Welcome to the family. =)

Sandra Zupanic (b.1982) graduated with a BA in Fashion Design Womenswear from Central Martins College of Art and Design in London and an MFA in Textiles from Konstfack, Stockholm. Sandra recently exhibited her Analogue GIF:s. Yes, you heard correctly. They are so freakin’ cool!

Sandra, what does solidarity mean to you?

Solidarity means to not distance myself from other people. To never be seduced by right wing politicians promises of ‘more money in my wallet’. More money in everyone’s wallets is more poverty for everyone. Solidarity means to keep neoliberalism and racism at bay.

Fun fact about Sandra:

Cosmic sign: Leo

Went to art school? Yes, Central Saint Martins and Konstfack

Favorite piece of cake: A very delicious strudel-like cake that my mum makes far too seldom and I can’t make because of it’s very secret and/or inexplainable recipe

On a Friday night, you’ll find me… either out and about somewhere or working on something in the studio. Or hanging out at home with my housemates, they’re so many so it’s kinda like having a party.

If I were a fruit, I would be a winter apple hanging on a crisp snowy branch, best served in front of an open fire

I find inspiration … from movement, transition, chance, things that were, things that are and some things that have not yet come to pass.

Favorite The Cure-song… I don’t think I have listened to enough Cure-songs to have a favourite

My Superhero (idol/God) is… Nature (Mother Earth)

Hi, I love your blog. Could you recommend me some good books about Art Nouveau please? Thanks

Thanks! Unfortunately, I don’t know of too many books about art nouveau, but I have a few. There’s a beautiful book of Mucha’s art; it’s by Marta Kadlecikova, and it’s available here. There’s also a German Jugendstil book that’s available here. There are other great art nouveau books out there, but I don’t know of very many, sorry! If anyone has any recommendations, feel free to tell me about them here or here.
