Today was officially declared as the National Day of Mourning for the Philippines. In honour of the fallen 44 Troopers, all flags were raised half-way, to symbolise mourning. These Men and Women fought with their lives at Mindanao tried to target suspected terrorists Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and Basit Usman. However in their dispute, they were killed by the MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front), and BIFF (Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters).
One of the Troopers, knowing that he would die, brought out his mobile phone to look at the photos of his family one last time before he was shot to death.
May these people never be forgotten for their sacrifices.
KUALA LUMPUR: Rumours of a hike in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) were spread by those with political motives to intimidate the public.
Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said the government will do the right thing for the benefit of the people.
“This rumour was created by people with a political motive,” he said when commenting on rumours that the GST rate will be increased to 8 per cent which had gone viral on social media.
In tabling the 207 Budget today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said people should not believe rumours that the GST rate would be raised from the current six per cent.
“The GST has managed to cover the shortfall from other sources of revenue for the government,” he said.
