PINOY GROOVE EXPERIENCE (Philippine Popular Music Revisited):
Whitelines - Zsa Zsa Padilla (1985)
Known as the Divine Diva, Zsa Zsa Padilla formally began her music career at age 18, singing with the legendary Manila Sound band Hotdog in 1982. She pursued her solo career one year later opening for Kuh Ledesma and eventually working with the likes of Leah Navarro, Basil Valdez, and Nonoy Zuniga. She released her first album, Am I Your Kind of Woman in 1984. Success soon followed with hits such as “Kahit Na,” “Point of No Return,” and “Mambobola.” She expanded her success by appearing on television and starring in movies. She has become a household name and is currently releasing a new album in 2015 called Beginnings. A truly remarkable talent with a powerful voice and endearing presence on stage and screen.
“Whitelines” is taken from her fourth release Zsa Zsa on Blackgold Records. Penned by J. Sta. Maria and R. Sacro, “Whitelines” is prime 80′s synth rock. Positively exhilarating, like cruising with the windows down in your yellow 1985 Chevy Camaro IROC with your friends.
Also, happy birthday! (May 28) Much love to a sweet person and loving mother of three of the coolest young women you’ll ever meet.
