I made this collage with the fourth chakra - the heart chakra, Anahata - in mind. The color green vibrating around the person sitting is associated with the fourth chakra. Anahata is Sankrit for unstruck, unhurt; when our hearts are open we are full of love, joy and compassion, therefore unhurt.
The flowers in this collage represent me and my name, Se'mana which means flower girl. To me, the flowers also represent the rose quartz which is associated with the heart chakra. The rose quartz is a love and healing stone with a feminine energy. It brings forth love in self, relationships and also brings about calm and helps with sleep.
The individual sitting represents feminine energy, not necessarily a woman. The face is a rose, representing a spirit in bloom, in healing and beauty.
I call this Our People, Our Strength because through love we receive & give compassion, we bring peace to ourselves and those surrounding us and we find strength in healing from historical trauma. My zine queer indigenous girl is specifically for and by queer, trans, 2-spirit, non-binary, disabled, chronically ill and neurodivergent black, indigenous, people of color. This is for us.
Please feel free to post your submitted pieces on Tumblr (tag us so we can find them! If you already did then please send us the link), and we will reblog them in the meantime as we set up printing for the zine. More updates this weekend! ✌
hello friends! since we’ve garnered enough interest, jules and i will be hosting a quick podcast on feb 28 (aka the day we’re celebrating shiro’s bday this year)! it’ll be super fun. you’ll get to hear our voices and standard banter lol. (also to clarify, it won’t be live — we’ll just be posting our podcast then!)
we’ll be taking questions via our ask throughout this weekend, so if you have anything you’re curious about, definitely drop it in our inbox before Sunday, February 26 at 11:59 pm EST!
this can range from anything about the production and creation of the zine to what our favorite foods are or anything shallura (lol of course)!
the feb 28 podcast will be the first of our podcast series that we’ll be hosting through this blog. given enough of you are listening and want to hear more, we’ll likely have monthly podcasts where we interview various fandom friends and creators — honestly whoever is down to talk with us for a few minutes — so definitely tune in if you’re interested!
We still need about 23 more artists, so I’ll have the zine open for another month, which means the closing date for joining the Zine will be March 31st! If we do not have enough artists by then, then I will keep it open for maybe another month or so. Just remember to reblog and tell your friends as much as possible about the zine!
Received a thank you letter from Misha Collins and Random Acts for our SPNIME donation! We were able to donate $900 of profits from the zine to the organization. We know it will be put to excellent use and hope that it can help do a lot of good!
