Ezekiel Nana Ansah, also known as “Ziggy”, is a 2013 NFL Draft prospect from Brigham Young University. He was born and raised in Ghana. His life is really intriguing because growing up he never had the intention nor the dream of playing American Football. As a kid, he was devoted to soccer and loved the sport of basketball. He swore that he would one day play in the NBA. When he got to college, he was cut twice from the BYU basketball team, which greatly disappointed him. He decided to join the Track team instead of moping around in sorrow and became a superstar; running an impressive time of 10.91 in the 100-meter dash. Keep in mind, he had never ran track before. After all his track accomplishments, he still wasn’t satisfied and decided to walk on to the BYU Football team. He made the team but knew nothing about football. He had to be taught the most basic rules and methods. It is said that he even needed help putting on his pads for a long time. For his first two years on the squad, he saw little to no playing time. It was until his senior year that he had his chance to shine. He had one of the greatest seasons of his life; making the senior bowl and earning the “Outstanding Defensive Player” Award. He now has his eyes set on the NFL. It’s amazing sometimes to see the journeys life will take you. His life is a true testament that illustrates whatever happens in your life you have to be able to adapt and keep going. When doors close, others will open. It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. I truly look forward to seeing Ziggy play in the NFL.
