LIONS’ ZIGGY ANSAH EARNS FREE IMAX MOVIES FOR A YEAR - If you watched the 2013 NFL Draft, you might have noticed what Detroit Lions 1st round pick Ziggy Ansah was wearing – a pair of IMAX 3D glasses.

Wearing the glasses, which Ansah says he acquired in a 2011 screening of the movie ‘Thor’, paid off big time. IMAX sent him the following words in a letter:

“We, at IMAX, couldn’t help but notice your keen sense of style at the NFL draft this year,” the letter read, according to the Detroit Free Press. “You made quite a fashion statement with your pair of 3D glasses. As a member of the Detroit Lions, you share our love for the color blue, and we would like to add an IMAX silver lining for you – we would love to celebrate your first year in the NFL with the opportunity to see all IMAX 3D movies on us for the next year.”

Ansah was drafted 5th overall and is expected to get a deal much like the one the Jacksonville Jaguarsgave to their 5th overall pick a year ago, Justin Blackmon, worth about $18 million. I’m pretty sure that’s more than enough for a few tickets, but if you can get them for free, why not? (Photo viaSportsNation.com)

Ezekiel Nana Ansah, also known as “Ziggy”, is a 2013 NFL Draft prospect from Brigham Young University. He was born and raised in Ghana. His life is really intriguing because growing up he never had the intention nor the dream of playing American Football. As a kid, he was devoted to soccer and loved the sport of basketball. He swore that he would one day play in the NBA. When he got to college, he was cut twice from the BYU basketball team, which greatly disappointed him. He decided to join the Track team instead of moping around in sorrow and became a superstar; running an impressive time of 10.91 in the 100-meter dash. Keep in mind, he had never ran track before. After all his track accomplishments, he still wasn’t satisfied and decided to walk on to the BYU Football team. He made the team but knew nothing about football. He had to be taught the most basic rules and methods.  It is said that he even needed help putting on his pads for a long time.  For his first two years on the squad, he saw little to no playing time. It was until his senior year that he had his chance to shine. He had one of the greatest seasons of his life; making the senior bowl and earning the “Outstanding Defensive Player” Award. He now has his eyes set on the NFL. It’s amazing sometimes to see the journeys life will take you. His life is a true testament that illustrates whatever happens in your life you have to be able to adapt and keep going. When doors close, others will open.  It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. I truly look forward to seeing Ziggy play in the NFL.

Ziggy is truly incredible! He’s only played football for three years and now he’s a top 10 pick in the upcoming NFL draft.
